I have to agree with Vic - and am happy to do so. I showed my 11-year-old the beginner box and helped him make a character. I ran him, his older brother and a friend (none of whom had played any RPG before) through the Black Fang adventure that comes with it. Then I went out of town for a week. When I came back, my 11-year old was DM'ing for his friends, and continues to do so a lot.
If you have questions on how to do anything, just ask 'em here. We love to help people get into the game, and we all remember learning it and taking a little while to wrap our brains around it.
And isn't it awesome that you got your question answered first by a Paizo bigwig (though he might prefer a different term)? Another great aspect of this game - the people who created it are part of the conversation about it.
