An interesting role-play idea involving Sorshien's clone (spoilers)

Okay, we generally have a four man party when we play an AP, usually selected from a pool of five potential players based on the current time demands and whatnot. One of the five is a female player who very much enjoys romantic or sexual aspects of RP, but always makes her characters attracted primarily if not totally to women which generally leaves the rest of the PC's as observers rather than participants.

We were talking characters Shattered Star and she's going to play her first full caster while another PC is trying out a new melee-centric build with a traditionally low Charisma. They've decided to kind of run it as he's devoted to her and serves as her surly protector (though he's quick and brooding more than burly and boisterous). His interest goes unrequited and possibly even unnoticed due to the reasons mentioned above.

Now we've talked about the various rune lords and whether or not any of the characters would have any knowledge of or interest in them or in Thassilonian history and culture as a rule. Another player intends on making a halfling Archeologist who's fascinated by Thassilonian relics and tomes while she (the female PC) just jumped all over the idea of her character having a fascination with Sorshien since her character this time around's going to be a bit of a hedonist and an enchanter as well.

My thought would be to 'arrange' the death of the melee character at some time that is appropriate and have him ressurected as Sorshien's clone - let the party think he's dead, pull him aside, explain to him what's going on and let him rejoin them at some climactic moment... only now he's female (physically, at least) and not only that, carries the mystical equivalent of Sorshien's DNA. Thought it might make for some good play to put the shoe on the other foot for our female player.

Anyway, I was looking for any thoughts or recommendations from people who have some experience with the AP. In my initial read through doesn't seem to suggest that it will cause any problems with the AP as written...

I don't think that it "will cause any problems with the AP as written".

You will be changing the AP as it was written though by forcing the death of the melee character and the clone body onto him.

Also, is there a reason your female player chooses to make characters that are attracted to females? Maybe she doesn't want to RP romantic or sexual encounters with the real life males at the table with her?

Creating a situation where one of your players is uncomfortable would be my biggest concern with your plan.

Scarab Sages

Provided the players are all okay with it I don't see any problems. Actualy, in my group, I'm considering having Oriana attempt to train the clone up as a squire (due to her twisted and conflicted feelings regarding Sorshen and the squire archetypes in the Knights of the Inner Sea book) and see how far she gets before the rest of the group cottons on. Now that will be a nasty moment when one of the other characters asks what she's going to do to the clone's face with that broken bottle.

Nah, I think its as much to tease them as anything - the players are a pretty laid back bunch. And for what its worth, I'm not going to go out of my way to kill anyone, though when there is a death in our games its usually to some dramatic purpose rather than a hum drum TPK. The character build is a high melee-damage build but its light on defense so I suspect sooner rather than later the player will do the job for me. We'll see.
