Alignment restrictions for rangers

Rules Questions

I know that rangers are allowed to be any alignment, but is there a restriction placed on their alignment from their deity? Like clerics, do rangers need to stay within on axis of their god's alignment to be able to cast spells, etc?

I don't think there is, but one of my players asked, and I wanted to be certain.

No, rangers aren't deity-dependant like clerics and paladins are. The 'divine spells' they get come from living with nature and communing with it, similiar to a druid.

They don't have to be, like paladins and clerics, but it can be fun for favor.

No, I think the idea is that they get their power from nature directly. But deity-bound ranger certainly COULD--just up to you/the player.

Although long ago and far away, all rangers had to be of good alignment.
