Which character?

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

So I made my first Pathfinder character a couple weeks ago to use n a PFS group. I made a human Ninja, but after playing it a couple of times and reading the CRB, APG, and UC books, I think I want to change to a virtuoso Inquisitor.

Which class will generally be better for PFS? If Inquisitor should I just leave the Ninja with the 2 exp and make a fresh Inquisitor, or apply the 2 exp and all of the loot to my Inquisitor?

If I do go with an Inquisitor, where can I find a list of all of the gods/goddesses of Golarion?

BTW, I picked virtuoso Inquisitor because I like the idea of a skill monkey character and a character that can serve as the "face" for my party since that was lacking in the 2 scenarios I did on my Ninja.

All classes can do well in PFS. But if you like the ninja mechanics, it would not be hard to rebuild your ninja into a "face" character. Ninja ki points work off of Charisma, and they get the good social skills as class skills. Cha 14-16 plus trained in Diplomacy, Bluff, and Sense Motive will get you pretty far.

But more importantly you should play what you think will be fun.

There's a list of the major gods in the Core Book. They are described in much greater detail in "Gods and Magic". There are three "Faiths of" splat books that focus on good, neutral, and evil" gods.

I think I'm going to go Inquisitor. I have a feeling a ninja built to be a face will be less than optimal, which would end up driving me crazy.

I can make a virtuoso Inquisitor and be the party face and be a support character in battle just fine.

So I guess that means it would make sense to apply the 4 fame/PP, 2 exp, and 2000 gold I got to the Inquisitor.

Correct, one of my favorite things about the new PFS rules is the level 1 rebuilding; until you play a character as level 2 (or higher if add in GM credits from running a game or two), you can change anything and everything about him/her. I think the only exception are items purchased with Prestige Points, and I'm sure some forum-google-fu would confirm that.

So have fun with your inquisitor; if that still doesn't feel right, then you can go with ninja :P

There's also a ninja pre-gen, too, if you want to try it out before sticking with it.

My first week I didn't have time to roll a char so I made a ninja pre-gen. It was ok so I rolled a ninja. Then I bought the Advanced Player Guide and saw Inquisitors. I played my ninja last week, but I think I want to be an Inquisitor instead.

I'm rolling it up now. Just having problems finding Traits.

There's a set of free traits you can use at paizo.com/traits.

The rules for them are in the APG, which you have. Additional traits can be found in many of the other Additional Resources.

The D20 PFSRD site also has a pretty comprehensive list of traits, and their source (so you can pick up a copy and keep your character legal).

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

Yeah I finally found them. Decided on Reactionary and World Traveler, although I'm wondering if having a higher initiative will be as important for a support character.

Inquisitors are awesome; quite like bards, except with divine spells. Still quite as competent in nearly everything.

Hmm... Bard/Inquisitors...

Umm... What exactly is a "Virtuoso Inquisitor"?

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

Virtuoso is a play style. I got it from Bodhi's Inquisitor guide. It's basically a skill monkey Inquisitor that serves as party face and fills a support role in combat.

Does armor affect the failure rate of Inquisitor spells?

1/5

No, because they are divine spells.

The Exchange 5/5

for a "face" character you might want to look at the Trait "Exteremly Fashionable" (?spelling?) - from Adventurers Armory. There are two Fashionable traits... you might want to look at each. Wear XX gp in clothing/jewelry and get three +1 skill bumps to social skills.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

Nice I can go with a breastplate and shield then. And being at medium carry weight wont't affect me too much either since I don't have to get into the thick of things.

Just got a last few details to work out.

Thanks guys.

I recommend looking at the Agile Breastplate in the APG. You could also buy a Mythral Breastplate around level 4.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

What is the benefit of Agile over a regular breastplate?

1/5

Agile Breastplate: This breastplate is specially crafted in a manner that allows extra maneuverability for some physical activities. The armor check penalty for Climb checks and jump checks is only –1 (masterwork and mithral versions of this armor reduce this penalty as well as the normal penalty).

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

Oh well I don't have any ranks in Climb anyway so my rolls on it will be terrible anyway.

I've also decided to go a different route and go archer, so I'll most likely be wearing MW Studded Leather.

There are several Climb checks that are DC 10. This means that you can Take 10 on them even if your Climb mod is only +0. If your mod is negative, things get difficult.

Archers can still wear armor. If you want light armor for the movement options, Mythral Chain Shirt is your best option as soon as you can afford 1100 Gp.

Another piece of advice, after you earn your first 2 Prestige Points you can spend them to get a Masterwork Darkwood Composite Longbow with up to a +3 Strength rating. It's the easiest and best way to up your damage early. It's the only bow you will ever need to get, hopefully.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

This is a pre-level 2 reroll. I've played 2 scenarios on the character already, so I have 2 PP (I spent 2 on a wand of CLW) and about 1800 gold to spend.

I was going to pay gold for a composite longbow (Str +2) but that dark wood one sounds better.

I'm wearing a breastplate and add 3 to my AC from Dex so that should be good for armor.

Grand Lodge 4/5

Once you have the Fame for it, especially if you ever want to bump Str, or get Str boosted for some reason, spending the 1000 gp on your longbow, once it is +1 already, is a good way to go. It is one of the many amazing and useful things found in the Ultimate Equipment book.

Remember that your armor can cap your Dex mod to AC, so keeping your eyes open on armor for a while is not a bad thing to do.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Don't get a Str +3 composite bow if your character only has a 14 Str. You'll take a -2 to Attack Rolls for not meeting the Str requirement of the weapon.

Thanks for the additional input. I played the archer inquisitor in a scenario yesterday and I did very well despite being the only level 1 at a table of 7 people.

I'm level 2 now, and I'm not entirely certain where to go with my ability scores as I level up further. I didn't leave myself any odd ability scores that my class uses.

The next purchase I'm looking into is armor with a higher max Dex bonus as I figure eventually I'll get a belt or something that gives me more Dex.
