Queen's Champion: a fighter archetype

Homebrew and House Rules

Here is an attempt at a fighter archetype: Queen's Champion

Give up prof with heavy armor and weapon prof for 4 skills/ lvl and prof with the light blades weapon group + aldori long sword. Add bluff, diplomacy, sense motive, and acrobatics to class skills.

@2 lvl swap bravery for parry. The character may forgo one attack per round to attempt to parry an attack against himself or an adjacent ally. Roll to hit and if higher than the attack, it is parried. Gain an additional parry attempt/ round at lvl 6, 10, 14, and 18.

@3, swap armor training for elaborate defense. Reduce the penalty for fighting defensive or combat exp by 1 and andditional 1 @ 7,11, and 15 th lvl.

@5 weapon training becomes riposte. You can make an AoA after a successful parry. @ lvl 9, 13, and 17 you add +1d6 to your damage with all light blades and the aldori dueling sword.

Armor mastery is unchanged, and weapon mastery applies to all light blades + the aldori dueling sword.

What do you think? Any takers, suggestions, or flames?

You just can't help yourself, can you Byrd? ;p Seriously, good to see all these concepts pouring forth.

I like it. Very simple. I'm guessing this is the guy the queen chooses as her champion when it's time to settle disputes by combat.

I'd be interested in seeing an NPC-version that was a Royal Bodyguard -

*@2 tweaked Deflect Arrows/Snatch arrows instead of Parry/Bravery that protects adjacent (and later, nearby/within 10') allies (queen/king/innocent child). Oho. I'm gonna have to create that ability myself...(unless it already exists). Is it possible to snatch an arrow coming near/through your square on somebody else's turn?

*@3 swap armor training for a Summoner's Shield ally/Improved shield ally ability type thing.

@5 weapon training becomes a bonus to hit on AoO's against your chosen ally's attackers and @9/13/17 you add +1d6 bonus to damage against your chosen allies enemies.

Armor mastery maybe a tweak, not sure. Weapon mastery - shortsword and glaive/halberd maybe...

The queens champion name came from SCA play. The kings champion is a heavy fighter while the queens champion is a light fighter. I also wanted a fighter who can "face" for a party.

I can't help creating stuff. I like to come up with concepts and feats and such, I just fall short in the fluff, mechanical lingo, and power/ balance issues. In fact, alot of the core mechanics in PF were long time house rules I had in place. And back in the 3.0 days I created tons of feats that I found in later released products.

I like the royal body guard btw. I can see some NPCs like this in my party's near future!

I don't see why parry can't apply to ranged attacks (thinking of the movie Hero with Jet Li). I don't know about snatch arrows.

Is there a feat that lets you do "rapid shot" with a melee weapon? I think there was one in 3.X, but I can't remember.

Re: The Royal Guard: Having looked into action economy in the CRB, tweaking a Deflect Arrows feat to defend an ally when it isn't your turn is not hard at all. Just make it an Immediate Action. Cool.

Bump

I am pulling a threadcromancy so I can polish this and maybe add to my Homebrew bible.

I am interested in seeing a more detailed/polished version of this.
