good day to all. i have a question . one of my players invite a new player but he never play again and start reading the books ultimate magic and core rulebook, and then he ask me something that i don't know what to answer exactly. (he seems a really ok guy and that he can make it in roleplaying for a first timer)
if he take an arcane bloodline familiar and the eldritch heritage feat serpentine bloodline does he get a second familiar with -2 on his levels?
i told him that most classes that give familiars stuck for only one familiar so a witch 2 level and a wizard 3 level multiclass will have 1 familiar 5 HD.
and he told me this is not a class familiar but from a feat bloodline and at -2 levels. shall i give him one familiar and he wont level it for 2 levels when he will get the bloodline power of the serpentine or a second one? i thing the first one is the most right

First: The entire first part of your history is unnecessary. Just get to the question at hand.
Second: Only one familiar is permitted at a time, no matter the source. Just like you can't have a familiar and a bonded object at the same time, the classes would stack for the purposes of the familiar's level but would not grant a second one. In the case of the arcane bloodline sorcerer, the familiar from that class would take precedence and the Eldritch Heritage feat for the serpentine bloodline would simply not work.

Editing the original post for clarity:

You are right, in that almost all sources lead to a single familiar. However, in this case it seems like two familiars are coming from the same class. The sole benefit of the Eldritch Heritage feat is the first level bloodline power, and nothing restricts a sorcerer from taking the feat (I would think this would lead to a crossblooded sorcerer, but that's not RAW.)

I wouldn't allow two familiars for one player. I might reconsider if I knew the player could handle playing 3 different characters in combat without making others wait, but in that case for simplicity's sake, I'd have them take the 3rd party Feat that lets you get a second familiar at - 2 levels. Additional Familiar or something like that?
