What will you make your Destiny's Twin?

I know that I want my prime character to be a lawful good monk archetype, but I'm undecided about what to make my Destiny's Twin character. If the two can train simultaneously, can they do so with different skill tracts? If so I may go one way, but if there is an advantage to keep the same skill sets for the twin, I'll do that. I am curious what others have thought about for their twin.

Goblin Squad Member

My main will be a NE rogue/assassin. My "Twin" will be a crafter, unless like you say there's an advantage to them both going along the same path.

Goblin Squad Member

Main will be a Wizard of questionable morals, secondary probably something different. Maybe a ranger of some form.

...
Also of questionable morals.

I am planning on doing a Bounty Hunter style Ranger for my main character. I want to be involved in inter-settlement wars, and other mercenary type work. I also want to venture into the deep wilderness and harvest rare crafting materials.
My Twin will make those rare materials into amazing goods. I am always fond of armor smithing, but I won't know exactly what craft I will do until we get more information.

The basic idea is an action character, and a towny.

I am considering getting a head start on a druid as it seems likely that the key druid features wildshape and animal companion will not be available early on making it an ideal alt class working on his crafting, bush skills and magic while waiting for the real class features to kick in.

I will play the alts as in-game "brothers". one a cleric, one druid.

Main is going to be a Ranger with focus in adventuring (PvE) and exploration (lots of chances of PvP). Will have some craft skill just to cover some basic needs (arrows, leather armor repair etc). Can do some bounty hunting to have some fun, too but not too much as I intend to be CG or NG. Will be a version of my favourite PnP char from 3.5 D&D but without cross classing (he was fighter/ranger).

Just a good Dwarven ranger he will be in Golarion, we Dwarfs are used to reffer rangers as "cavers" you know, but Daeron is going to be not that much specialized. Wilderness is gonna be his second home... hunting creatures to get stuff to craft and sell is gonna be his goal.

Twin I have so many options that gives me a headache...

Good chance I revive an old friend of mine... A CN fighter (could be barbarian too, he is old school D&D 2nd edition, so there was no barbarian option to pick up in his time).

He was sort of crazy but brave guy yo know... cause he spent his childhood on the streets, fighting for food against older boys, running from the guards. Made lot of gold on street fighting, spent all o' it in beer and bad reputation women, if you understand me.

He was from a noble family you know... but had to run for his life when strangers railed his home and killed all his fammily. He kind of suppressed that memories, so he doesn't remmember exactly who he is, sad stuff...

Yes... good chance I'll bring back my old friend, I miss him, long time not see...

Well, fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, my second is already set in stone as to what they will be. They will be crafting and other passive skills, as are most other peoples. Mine will be famous though. My main is still a work in progress. But he/she will be of LE alignment. You may not like their code, but they will have one.

Goblin Squad Member

My native inclination is to field a Druid and a Wizard, but that is subject to change as I will re-evaluate as the mechanics of the game are revealed.

I do not yet know how wands and staves are going to work. If casters are very limited in the number of spells they can cast then it may very well be that I will choose a fighter and/or ranger instead.

Much will depend on what we learn in alpha.

Goblin Squad Member

My main will be an elven rogue who dabbles a little in magic and what my destiny's twin will be is nothing since I really have no need of one.

Goblin Squad Member

I’m going to be doing opposite of a lot of you, my main will be a crafter (thinking of specializing in structures). And my Destiny’s Twin alt I am not sure on, but I’ve always enjoyed arcane casters, so maybe a Wizard/Sorcerer archetype.

Liberty's Edge Goblin Squad Member

My main will be an Arcane Spell caster (going for all the Wizard Archetype skills), but not yet sure about my "Twin". I am torn between Ranger or Druid archetypes and the Crafter archetype. It sort of depends on what the meetings between Lisa and the GW Devs result in regarding modifications to last week's Blog. If it stands, then Crafter who pretty much stays in the settlement as I have no interest in playing that "game" discussed in that Blog (might even make a Crafter archetype my main in that case and have two Crafters); but it sensible changes are made, then some sort of Explorer type sound like a lot of fun.

Liberty's Edge Goblin Squad Member

Main will be LG Wizard, going for the full Archetype run, but I don't know about the "Twin". Maybe Sorcerer, I don't really know yet.

Goblin Squad Member

My main will probably be a monk with a building crafter for my Twin.

Goblin Squad Member

My main will likely be a dwarven fighter. As with most people my alt will likely be some sort of crafter. Though I am tempted to roll up a Hell Knight.

Goblin Squad Member

If PFO allows that people have more than 2 chars, on same or other account (by paying more than one subscription) I problably will build a craft foccused char as well. So maybe it would be my twin and the CN fighter or Barbarian I wrote about before is going to be a non-twin char, maybe.

Goblin Squad Member

My main will be a neutral human druid living in the forest. He will likely harvest but be very protective of his hidden property with a "Get off my lawn or I'm gonna shoot you" attitude.

My twin will be a human aristocrat/rogue from one of the noble families in Westcrown. Likely Neutral Evil with a tendency to poison folks to get rid of them but that is his secret identity. Most people will know him as a very good jewelry crafter and he will be living with my PnP players in our guild settlement.

I'll have a Dwarven Smith and a Gnome Rogue(/Bard?).

My Character concept for the Dwarf is a Lawful Evil Smith that only sells his best creations to those who serve evil. He'll also have a small ammount of combat ability, and show the ropes to new adventurers when he has the chance (He thinks this sets him above other 'common' evil-doers).

My rogue? I think probably a chaotic neutral. I'll see where I feel like going with him, but he'll definatley be my adventuring character.

In this style of character development limited by passage of real time (and keeping your training queue full) characters training different possible areas allows you to see more of those parts of the game. Instead of rolling countless alts to play classes or have different crafting, you train all those class skills and crafting skills on one character... eventually. Two characters splitting up the training lets you have those skills twice as fast.

Goblin Squad Member

My Twin will be a Monk. I like the idea of not having to rely on a lot of gear for a second character, I can focus that on my main.

Goblin Squad Member

I'm thinking my main, might be a CN Bandit .... LOL

As for my twin, I might actually go with a LG Paladin, rise the heights of purity and reputation and then he shall fall from grace, and become a CE killing machine, a travesty of all that was once holy....

Or I'l make a crafting / merchant like we have to in EVE, to support our pirate characters.

Goblin Squad Member

I was going to go druid and crafter. Now it is going to depend on more of the PvP rules. I will not play a class with any alignment restrictions. This way I can play the way I want and not be forced into any actions.

Likely a Ranger that scouts for PvE lairs in the woods and rare crafting mats. I will also shoot first ask questions later in any situation I feel threatening. I won't go out of my way to hunt bandits or merchants and with current rules I would be hard pressed to help in either situation. Now settlement defense is a different story and hopefully track will be nice for finding our enemies.

My other character might just be a neutral merchant or crafter depending how they handle auction houses. He will likely never leave a safe zone and just build skills to play the AH.

Goblin Squad Member

Probably going Cleric and a ranger of questionable morals...

I don't know for sure, but I would be wary of assuming the Monk will not be dependent on gear.

Tentative plans include a LG Dwarf Paladin of Torag (PVE & Warfare focus) and a LE Half-Orc Cleric of Asmodeus (Harvesting & Settlement focus) so I can experience all four pillars of the game design, and play on both the ends of the Good-Evil access. This may change as more information is released and as we get nearer to EE of course.

Goblin Squad Member

One of the twins will be LG-LN dwarven cleric/crafter.
Other one will be of different alignment and of some scout type (scout/harvester).
Not much info to decide now, imo.

Goblin Squad Member

Mine will probably a magical crafter, to go with my exploring character.

Goblin Squad Member

Wizard/Sorceror type and a Bard.

I'm fairly sure that they will be able to train simultaneously in different skill tracts. Anything else seems like an attempt to pick my pocket.

There's no way I am going to pretend I can play anything lawful. My own nature is too chaotic. (There are no moral absolutes, existentialism rules but anarchy and nihilism sux) And sadly, I have never played any mmo for 2.5 years, much less 17. (Hell, I'm damn near 60, no phreakin way will I be playin' this game in 17 years) So, I'm probably gonna go for some crossbreed, play for a couple years, and find something else to do, if history is a fortune teller. As much as they might be gimped in the short run, I'm probably going to try to create some sort of mystic theurge, eldritch knight or arcane archer archetype with my main and my twin. Now you've been warned, 'Ware the 'Beard...

I intend to have an adventurer and a merchant/crafter.
Each will be able to complement and supplement the other's activities.

I hope. Either way, my guild (the Pax Mercatorum) will likely be filled with people doing a similar strategy, so if I cannot interact with my alts, then I can essentally do the same thing with a guildmate's alt.

Until more plans are laid and more information about the mechanics is given, I don't really know what class/archetype I want to go down for either character.

Scarab Sages Goblin Squad Member

My main will be an explorer monk. My twin will be either a Druid or an aberrant bloodline Sorcerer depending on what GW does with Druid animal companions and summons and if the aberrant bloodline is in game for Sorcs.

Maybe we should start a chartered Company of Codgers.

Obviously you didn't collect enough Dragon magazines ;)

Originally I planned for my first character to be a crafter. I'm actually annoyed that the example for Destiny's Twin was "make yourself a crafter alt", as it seems to be leading to a situation where crafters will be the most common class in the game by far. I'll probably still make a crafter, as long as crafting still promises to be engaging, but I may change my mind (because I abhor FOT*).

As for a second character, there are so many options. A soldier would be interesting, but might not even be available until late in EE. Beyond that... I simply can't decide yet.

Too expensive and hard to find here in Brazil the time I played it, and I was just a teenager, so not much money to spend on game stuff. So I played using just core stuff from the only AD&D book a friend of mine had and allowed us to photocopy.

Edit: Internet was not a reality this time, the most advanced computer available was just PC 286, so no way to have access to everything like we have today.

Impressive that this game idea has attracted such a stellar company of gentlemen!

As for joining a company: I need to see what my own guild decides to do and how significant a population we can field in it before I make any external committments. On the one hand that puts me at a disadvantage in some ways (the way I seem to be accumulating antipathy with my outspokenness my guild may well decide I need to dissociate myself) but on the other hand I am learning of some groups I believe I would not wish to touch with a ten foot pole.

My spidey senses tingle when I read some posts. If GW associates my forum name with my character names I might have trouble existing at all in the game by the time it goes live.

Ah well: to the brave belongs the glory: Stand Sure! is the family motto.
