The Exodus, War Between Heaven and Hell.....

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Um, ok. Its true, I'm new. I'm still learning the source material. But it seems that Princes of Darkness starts off in such a way that it assumes I have knowledge of things I do not.

Did I miss something somewhere?

Seriously, could someone point me to a sourcebook or something that might illuminate for me this cosmological point? It sounds interesting, but I have missed it.

I assume you are talking about the story at the beginning? In Pathfinder there is a Book of the Damned written by an Angel to further understand the Evil Forces in the Universe. That is an excerpt from it. Pretty sure there are a few more in that book, and in the other books of the series. It is more or less for flavor though. It might be true, it might be propaganda, it might be the writings of a insane Angel, or a false prophet or a million of things. The Validity and Importance are up to the GM. Similar to a plot hook.

I think any flavor text like that in Prince of Darkness is suppose to have come from The Book of the Damned, as are the parts of the flavor text from the other two books of the series, Lords of Chaos??? and the one on Daemons, though those two books are more about the crazy angels dealings with those two groups. There is also something in Legends and Artifacts about the book itself. I am assuming there are more bits and pieces elsewhere as well.

No, that's not what I mean.

The concepts of The Exodus and the war between Heaven and Hell are repeated throughout the book. But nowhere are they given any sort of explanation or context (at least not that I have yet read, not having completely finished it yet).

Legends and Artifacts? Not familiar with that... supplement?

Thanks for taking a stab at an answer, though.

It's not in any sourcebook I know about, chariot. You're reading a myth. And as such, it may be true...it may not. There's no definitive answer in any source; you just have to decide for yourself if it's true.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, the further back in history you go, the more mythic and less reliable details become. Princes of Darkness is pretty much it now, though there may be a bit more in Chronicles of the Righteous, maybe?

Artifacts and Legends is a setting book that has a bit more detail on the history of the Book of the Damned itself, but nothing really about the war in heaven. Well, probably. No definite details, that is.

You haven't finished reading the book yet? That explains it.

The War appears to be what happens after Asmodeus murders Ihys, and the Exodus to Hell follows.
