Not all geeks agree on everything. Just check the Big Bang Theory thread.
What Big Bang Theory thread?
The "love it or hate it" thread.

Thanks.

My search-fu is very weak. Is there any chance of a link, or directions to menu/sub-menu/sub-sub-menu...?

I am a master of search-fu. I could destroy you. But, since you are weak, I shall help you this one time and show you this.

Thanks, sensei.

I've read, absorbed, and commented on the thread.

Er....wow!

This. There is a LOT of disagreement on just what "defines the western geek" and I'm pretty sure a lot of us would disagree with half or more of your list.

Firefly, buffy, etc. You all know me by now, so I had to put out the usual stuff first . -1 on lost, although the show got really really convoluted after a while, it remains excellent television for the most part. Although I love jokes made at its expense. I'll add alphabet soup cop shows to the list.

I'm curious why do you dislike Whedon? I know your entitled to your own opinion but I am curious. Also firefly was 1 season.

As for the question Jersy shore

Funny story about the Travel Channel one.

They investigated our local library (Carnegie Library of Homestead). We watched the episode in its entirety even though we can't stand the main guy. The 'investigated' all the usual weird sounds, odd shadows, and strange happenings. They came to their usual lack of a conclusion, then went out and loaded up their van and drove off.

So, what's the funny part?

They were parked the wrong way on a one way street!

If they hadn't also 'investigated' a local police station, would they have gotten a ticket? Anyone else would have.

I have to admit, I was watching Destination Truth on SyFy. This show is pretty typical of what you're describing. They were hunting for some mythical ape-man in China. They're out there at night, no lights, all green-lit night cam and everything, and the host turns and says to his partner (more or less) "Isn't it a great job we have? We get paid to travel all over the world so we can run around in the dark jumping at noises and almost find things." I had to laugh, because it's true. This guy is making good money to be a world traveler and make bad TV. Who could ask for a better career?

Destination Truth gets a pass from me because the host is hi-freaking-larious. And not in a "these chumps amuse me" way. He's genuinely funny. It's not a monster hunt, it's a comedy.

Anything made by Disney with the exception of the Gummy Bears, which is based off of D&D.

I better include ER, CSI, and Law and Order.

One show that is so bad is Heroes.

I'd better include My Little Pony.

Oh, yes, one show that was terrible was Will and Grace. That should not have lasted one season.

I've seen the commercials for that one and it doesn't seem as obnoxious, yeah. I can see people getting some enjoyment out of that one.

But things like Ghost Hunters/International, Haunted Collector, and Ghost ______ make me very angry. The closest I came to watching another episode was when Jensen Ackles was on there once but I figured it wasn't worth it.

I guess Survivor could be put into that list. The first season was original, but I don't understand the appeal in future seasons, but then again I don't watch soap operas or (most) reality TV.

Amusingly I watched the second season as soon as I read they voted out the survival expert first. I wanted to take a sadistic glee in their being so busy playing 'the game' that they forgot about things like survial skills. I was rewarded.

Other than that, feh. Donna loved 'em though.

Undercover Boss.
Really, after the first season anyone who doesn't live under a rock should be hip to the concept when someone comes into your workplace with a television crew in tow.
