Possible 2nd ed AD&D to Pathfinder

Conversions

I'm considering running my Pathfinder group through The Rod of Seven Parts, a 2nd edition AD&D module. I'm aware of the fact that I'll have to essentially rewrite the entire module, which I'm fine with, so I'm not looking for a conversion guide. What I am looking for is an idea of equivalent levels. The Rod of Seven Parts is intended for 5-7 characters, levels 10th-12th. Given the power increase that PCs have seen going from 2e to 3e, to 3.5, to PFRPG, does anyone have even the slightest clue what an equivalent APL for Pathfinder would be? Has anyone done a 2e to PFRPG conversion? What about tRoSP specifically?

Thanks

My opinion is that you're going about this backwards. I recommend deciding on a level you would like the characters be at and building the adventure based on that.

I say this because I tried converting an old module years ago and made a mistake by trying to convert it faithfully. Toss the numbers and keep the fluff. The numbers don't translate evenly.

Do a quick run through assigning CRs to encounters. See what level range those CRs would make sense for. Adjust encounters to line up properly with the APL you want.

That is what I did for the only conversion I have done (A Rose for Talkara).

Silver Crusade

You'll need one "foundation" encounter conversion, such as Miska, and can work your way backwards or forwards from there. I'm thinking 9th to start, 12th to finish.

I own and ran that module back in the day, had a ton of fun with it, but was so daunted by the conversion that I abandoned my efforts. I believe an EnWorld poster converted the fiends and the Rod to 3rd edition, but unknown if you can still find it online. The Age of Worms AP in Dungeon Magazine has 3.5 conversions for the 6th and 7th pieces of the Rod.

Go through the module and figure out the important encounters. Convert them to pathfinder. See what kind of challenge rating they have. Try to get those to line up in a sort of curve depending on the length of the module. Now you know roughly what level you want the party to be at during various points in the game. Set starting level and the rest of the encounters CR based on that.
