I would have rathered d20pfsrd just not opened a store that I would never use =\

The Exchange

Well Coridan, just so you're clear, all of the same content you had before will still be there. The only difference is that the stuff that d20pfsrd.com can't use directly will be on the sister site that we link to. In the meantime, the OGL content will be made more "generic" so that it can be used more easily in any campaign. However, if that's still not good enough you've always got the PRD and/or archives of nethys etc.

Grand Lodge

I dig what you guys do.

Will the "generic titles" effect your search functions?

The Exchange

@Blackbloodtroll: We *hope* not too much. We have some options in mind. We haven't quite gotten that far yet but we do intend to attempt to make searching still do what you want it to do with a minimum of fuss.

Scarab Sages

As mentioned above, all of the Skymetals (and many others) can be found on the Archives of Nethys, using the Community Use Policy, here: http://archivesofnethys.com/SpecialMaterials.aspx.

Reposting from the other thread since its basically the same thing...

Right. And all of the mechanics of such things will still appear on d20pfsrd.com, and should still theoretically come up in search results and/or autocompletes in searches, leading you to the pathfindercommunity.net sister site, which has all of the community use content plus all of the iconics from the NPC codex, many statted out at all levels, not just the ones provided in the book. The complete builds of the other levels done much like we did for all of the dragons, building out all age categories etc.

That said, yeah, archivesofnethys is great, most especially if you're trying to focus on what's legal for pfs play etc.

Grand Lodge

Thank you all. This is my first experience with such things.

I will be sure to be aware of the Community Use Policy when posting material.

I understand why the store was financially necessary, but this whole commercial thing is kind of a pain, especially since convenience was one of d20pfsrd's biggest selling points, in my opinion... Oh well.

The Exchange

@The Golux: We'll continue attempting to make the game and rules as convenient as possible, and continue to bring you everything we possibly can, at no charge. We hope you'll find that is a reasonable arrangement.

throws thread into a resurrection station to draw SHODAN's attention

Now that skymetals are on the PRD, has this changed? Are their names also open content now?

Odd.

PRD wrote:
Unless otherwise noted, skymetal has the same hardness and hit points as steel.
The entirety of adamantine's entry is:
PRD wrote:
Adamantine: The most commonly known skymetal, adamantine is extremely strong and favored by weapon and armor smiths alike for its ability to cut through solid barriers with ease and endure heavy blows.

Adamantine is not noted to have different hardness and HP there. Does this mean it now has hardness 10 and 30 HP/inch instead of hardness 20 and 40 HP/inch?

A response Liz Courts gave to the same question elsewhere

Related to a couple of projects people are working on (or have worked on) regarding the presence of "Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Technology Guide" in the Pathfinder Reference Document...
Previously, the names of skymetals were considered Product Identity (in regards to their earlier appearances in the "Shattered Star Adventure Path" and "Pathfinder Chronicles: Into the Darklands"). I've consulted with the Powers What Be, and taking a change from Paizo's previous stance, these can be referred to by the correct name (siccatite, for example) instead of whatever pseudonyms you may have used in the past.
HOWEVER. The guide is NOT a part of the Exhibit B list for the Pathfinder Compatibility License, so you cannot make mention of this book in your product's running text (and yes...I will be watching for this). It, of course, must still be referenced in Section 15 of your OGL statement.

Owen cites the answer correctly—since the names of Those Other Skymetals are on the Pathfinder Reference Document, you can use their names.
You still cannot reference Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Technology Guide by name in your product's running text (you will still need to update Section 15 of your OGL statement accordingly, of course).

I don't know. On a tangent, what use would it be to have mechanics that you can't refer to by a name?

Instead of the names presented we have green skymetal, red skymetal, grey skymetal.

On yet another name related tangent, as the players delayed, allowing Clegg (a crime boss from port) to claim the main Skymetal reserve on the Devil's Elbow, and the name of the metal had more or less been lost to antiquity, the folks in "our" Golorion know the metal as Cleggsteel.
