Elf from the city of El (Castrovel) in Society?

Pathfinder Society

Looked around but can't find any official word on this. Obviously a Lashunta is off the table, but is it legal to play a regular old elf in PFS who happens to be from Castrovel? It wouldn't change the stats of the elf at all--just something fun for flavor.

I don't know much about the other planets so I'm not sure if elves exist on Castrovel. If they do then I say go for it. If they don't and you're looking to actually play a native of the planets I think you would have to give a reason for being in an elf body. You could also just think your from Castrovel, which might be fun as well.

Delusional Pathfinders are fun. I see them all the time. :-)

Soyvarian; where Elves on Golarion are ostensibly originally from, is on Castrovel. So, yes, there are Elves on Castrovel, it says so in Distant Worlds & everything.

That said, I have no idea if Distant Worlds is considered applicable for PFS.

Well there you go, I didn't know that. Sounds like your golden. Since Distant Worlds is campaign specific it is canon and applicable to PFS.

Thanks for the feedback. Yep, elves definitely exist on Castrovel, and El is their capitol city there.

So far, no major objections seems promising!

just hope you don't run into an NPC Elf from Castrovel who expects to discuss matters there, and you don't know anything about the place, so you will be assumed to be crazy. which everybody else was already thinking anyways.

Why wouldn't I know anything about Castrovel? I've read the Distant Worlds supplement enough :)

Well, maybe take a rank or two in Knowledge, Local and Knowledge, History and perhaps a trait or two. Of course, getting to Absalom may have been a bit of a challenge. Perhaps the character was part of a small group of elves who contacted the Pathfinders in Absalom. Possibly, the Pathfinders and the group from El agreed to swap some personnel so that there may be someone on Castrovel who is a member of the Pathfinder society and is exploring that world. (Sounds like a good idea for an NPC for a future adventure.)

There's a big "stargate" right there in El that links straight to Golarion, so the physical part of travel wouldn't be that rough. But, yeah, the political aspects would have to be thought through a tad. Not hard to do though. You're concept of an exchange program actually sounds very workable.

Circling back to this thread from a couple of years ago. There's a much easier and more airtightly legal way to play an Elf from Castrovel since the release of Pathfinder Player Companion: People of the Stars a while back. The trait "Sovyrian Intellectual" is legal for Society play according to the Additional Resources page.

"Having grown up in one of the intellectual centers of Castrovel, you speak precisely and persuasively, especially among elves. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Diplomacy checks. This bonus increases to +3 against creatures with the elf subtype."

Right there in black and white "Having grown up in one of the intellectual centers of Castrovel..." Makes the whole thing much more straightforward.

That's absurd. Just because the player doesn't have the answers doesn't mean the character doesn't.

With Occult Adventures, you can play actual Coneheads now.
