If you are a crowd forger buddy supporter and buy the $100 year subscription add on can you split the time with your buddy?
Yeah I'm curious do we have to link things like titles, game-time etc after the KS, or will we get *codes* that we can apply to our accounts once the game starts?
Main reason I ask is I have an alpha account from the first kickstarter, but I'm also backing here. It would be nice if I could apply addons from this to my alpha account rather then starting a new second account to use with my addons.

dammit ryan now i have to give you more money.
Also ryan i dont know if you will know this yet, but will the 100 bucks a year subscription fee be available if you buy it in one chunk (say all 12 months) or is it a special kickstarter deal?
I expect it to be a special deal since it ends up being around $8.30 a month which is below what i would expect for buying time in large chunks (say 10-12 a month that way).

Questions:
1) If you are a guild backer will you need to buy an title, player pack, ect for each of the six accounts or does one add-on apply to all the accounts?
2)Does your Destiny's Twin also gain the normal benefits of the account (like Daily Deals, Player pack, ect) and if you bought an add-on does it also apply to the the Twin or only one character?
3) Can you buy some of the add-on's and have then attached to a tech-demo alpha account?

I can afford another $300 though it depends if I know before KS ends that the PFO will work on Linux, either by a Linux client or via WINE.
you could always run boot camp, just saying. its not ideal but if you have a copy of windows sitting around somewhere you'd be able to hold yourself over until you know if a Linux client is going to be available. kinda surprised its so close to the end and there has been no word definitely on Linux client plans.

Virtual machine with Windows is not an option for me. Firstly I don't own any copy of Windows for over a decade already, and secondly 3D graphics support in many Virtual Hypervisors are still not well supported, even though for some work is been done to improve 3D graphic performance.
So for us that are purely Linux users, not dual booting and using Windows VMs, we require a Linux client, or able to run in multiple versions of WINE. Some of the games available on Steam.com for Linux, actually use WINE as part of the client. Normally the game launching script that comes with Linux prepares the WINE environment for the game to function on Linux.

on a side not i totally got Linux mixed up with mac, sorry about that i completely gave you wrong info. it literally just clicked that you were talking about the penguin OS lol which actually is owned now by Microsoft if i remember right.
WINE is basically a windows emulator. so i do not see why it would not work for PFO if you use wine for other games, but then again i have never screwed around with Linux, i have friends that love it i have friends that hate it. i personally have no use for it, windows works perfectly for me so that's what i use.
have you tried contacting Ryan Dancey directly about it the Linux os support?

Linux will never be owned by Microsoft, the open licenses prevents that. Microsoft after many years at trying to get rid of Linux, they have started to work with a few Linux distributions to help with integration of Linux and Windows machines in heterogeneous environment.
Also WINE is not a Windows emulator, it just allows standard executables to be run in the Linux environment, with access to Linux resources allowed for the user account.
No I have not contacted Ryan directly. I believe it is not the correct thing to do unless person(s) invites me to have a private communication channel with them to discuss issues.

On November 2, 2006, Novell and Microsoft announced a joint patent agreement to cover their respective products. They also promised to work more closely, to improve compatibility of software, setting up a joint research facility. Executives of both companies expressed the hope that such cooperation will lead to better compatibility between Microsoft Office and OpenOffice.org and better virtualization techniques.
Novell announced in November 2010 that it had agreed to be acquired by Attachmate for $2.2 billion, Attachmate planed to operate Novell as two units, one being SUSE. As part of the deal, 882 patents owned by Novell was planned to be sold to CPTN Holdings LLC, a consortium of companies led by Microsoft. In August 2003, Novell acquired Ximian, a developer of open source Linux applications (Evolution, Red Carpet and Mono). This acquisition signaled Novell's plans to move its collective product set onto a Linux kernel.
In November 2003, Novell acquired SuSE, a developer of a leading Linux distribution, which led to a major shift of power in Linux distributions. IBM also invested $50 million to show support of the SuSE acquisition. Within the openSUSE project, Novell continues to contribute to SUSE Linux. openSUSE can be downloaded freely and available as boxed retail product with formal support.
I
with all that taken into consideration, and the misconception i ha that for some odd reason Linus Torvalds worked for novell it is easy to see why i thought windows now owned the rights to everything linnux.
but that's all irrelevant i guess. i am just chock full of misinformation today i think its time i claim up before i put my foot in my mouth lol.

No hassle Darsch.
Even Linus can't change the Linux licenses as they are open licenses. When stuff is declared under open licenses and open patents, it can't be closed every again. Also depending on the licenses, derived works can be closed, though only the parts that the company added, not the original, which must remain open. One has to look very carefully at things placed under open licenses, open protocols and open patents.

We *hope* to have an update about platform support prior to the end of the Kickstarter—we are trying to get the publisher of our chosen engine to nail some things down for us.
Thanks! If you guys can get support for Macs and Linux, that would definitely get you at least a small hike in support. Not just from those that use those platforms, but from those who refuse to support you unless you're inclusive. I'd also note that the Humble Indie Bundles tend to get larger donations from the non-windows groups. From their last bundle:
Average purchase:$6.69
Average Windows:$6.23
Average Mac:$7.94
Average Linux: $10.48

Thanx Vic.
Cutting it very close to get answers from middleware with only 8 days before KS ends. Lets hope, as I got about $300 waiting to be added.I have bought many Linux games from HumbleBundle. HumbleBundle is the place where I get some nice games to play.

Just because I'm curious, DarkOne, are you the only Linux user on the forums that only uses Linux?

And BSD! Can we get a FreeBSD executable too? And I'd love to see an AmigaOS port. That would be awesome ;)
All joking aside, Linux fans have shown a tendency to support KS's that include their favorite OS. I'm not sure they actually plan on playing/using the software...it's seems to be more a matter fan-pride.
So if it is possible, I'm sure you'd get a few more pledges if you could use Unity to promise a Linux/OS(?) client at some point. I'm also betting the average Linux user would be slightly less likely to be a game-destroying ganker...but that's just an unfounded stereotype that might have no basis in the truth.
