It all depends on whether or not there is enough material to warrant a physical book, but that is our goal.

I sure hope there is enough material. I really don't like pdfs because I don't have a means to taking them to the game (no laptop or tablet) without printing them off, and that's not practical given the size of many products.

It's most likely it will be printed. Just in archetypes, there's over 30 pages. Add in the two new races, the new prestige class, all the new feats and items... yeah, we should be able to do probably a ~60 page softcover.

Thirty pages of archetypes? Is that something like 50-60 archetypes? Oh, my poor, bleeding fingers.

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

10 for the psionic classes (race-neutral)
30 for the psionic races (10 races, 3 archetypes per race)
8 for the base classes (we already had 3 of them in Expanded)

So 48 archetypes. :)

I've not compared my document to those numbers, but that sounds about right.

Sorry, I've lost track now.

The idea is, there will be a hardcover that combines the first two main psionics books, and adds another book's worth yes? And this will be in full color, laid out similarly to Paizo books (as far as color pictures, chapters, larger font, etc).

And, there will be a softcover that will contain the extra material that isn't in the other two books?

Just confirming. I have the other two books, but would rather get one big hard cover in full color. :)

Sounds that way mdt. UP is still the unified incredibly awesome must-have book. This new talk is about something other, that purchasers of UP won't need.

That's correct.

One big full-color, hardcover book with everything (400+ pages).

One new, small, softcover book with all the new stuff from the project (~60 pages).

For what it's worth, I wanted to bow my head to DSP for compiling the new material in a new pdf/book. Thank you so much for that and not forcing me to scrap my copies of PU and PE.

Thank you!

I will second that appreciation. I love my first two books and can't wait to see the new material.

I've held off buying Psionics Expanded to wait for the Big Golden Book of Psionic Goodness in hardcover. Though it's not been easy.

I just know i'll ended buying both though, just for ease of use. All the same, it was awfully considerate of them.

I'm hoping the Aegis things are soon to be in beta, as I never got the chance to comment on the alpha parts.

The Crystal Warrior's costs were a bit too high. Exchanging 1CP for a feat was dead on, given you can get 1CP for a feat. But after that, things got bad and fast. The suit, for example. Why would I take Crystal Warrior if I can just instead take Psicrystal Affinity and have an un-gimped suit?

Still, the concept was interesting, and the 'Ai-Supported' armor can have a lot of interesting potential.

The blast abilities [should just be treated as a weapon to both save on long rule exploration and allow enchanting] were also interesting, though yea, definitely better elsewhere.

Perhaps if the Crystal Armor was a form in and of itself, as opposed to a brawler form that's all about blasting?

A lot of tasty stuff is coming up, though. I was quite happy with Unleashed and am definitely looking forward to more of this stuff. The new not-tome-of-nine-swords too. Stalker looks fun, if a little complicated at the moment.

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

The Crystal Warrior is seeing some significant changes. It's ready for Beta - once I have a couple more archetypes ready, I'll post another batch. :)

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Aegis and Marksman are two classes that somehow really clicked with me right from the start. The former probably because I've played way too much Super Metroid, but the latter it was the powers that really did it. Foxhole and the Gravity Well/Anchor pair are just plain fun.

Here you go! Aegis, Psychic Warrior, and Wilder Beta Thread

Affinity for 1CP is still perfectly fine

Form Astral Suit seems far better now. You still have your suit, you just happen to be able to pack a psicrystal into it.

Losing Astral Repair is still a pretty serious cost, free and fast repairs are insanely versatile [when all you have is a hammer....], but if missive has no PP cost that's a reasonable exchange. One I'd personally rather not have to make, but a reasonable one balance wise.

Containment for Invigorating suit hurts, quite a bit in fact, given those +4s to environmental and survival aspects can make you bloody hardy. It's a good feat, but not sure it's worth the entire stack of invigorating. At the very least, the suit should be able to count as having Invigorating for the purposes of feats that might have required it, such as student of the astral suit?

Psicrystal shot: VERY interesting, but could you clarify this a little bit? Is it basically acting as a turret while you either also fire or do something else? Bloody awesome if that's the case, but it will need a BAB higher than +0 with Dex15 by the time you're level 7.

It seems there will be multiple options just from the ranged attack custom, or did this mean the crystal can apply whichever ones you've installed for yourself upon the suit?

If that's the case I would recommend half its owner's BAB; between that and any customs [possibly enchantments] you can apply to the ranged attack, that should turn out well enough. No need for a manyshot equivalent after all, but an extra pair of attacks equal to iteratives 3/4 is nevertheless nice.

Can't wait to see the ranged customs referred to here that's for sure. Being able to fully go 'blaster' type with the aegis is good, and the free ranged attack base custom is sensible given several abilities can be lost.

Any feats or methods of getting Astral Repair? Even if it involves multiclassing.

Tactical Suit: Very interesting. 'nuff said.

Overall, a lot of interesting stuff, though some serious sting in the costs means you really do need to think long and hard about whether you want the turret or whether you want to be able to turn the rust on twenty dead Orcs into a cart full of money for the party...

I'm completely happy to be getting the new book - I have both the old ones, admittedly in PDF but the art is nowhere near as good as this is going to be...

Happy Anniversary! Looks like the Kickstarter kicked off 1 year ago today.

And we're getting really close to finished!

I've put six racial archetypes into Beta playtesting this week. All that remain for archetypes are the third dromite archetype, the new cryptic and soulknife archetypes, and the archetypes for the non-psionic base classes.

Check out the duergar archetypes here and some forgeborn and xeph archetypes here!

Really looking forward to getting this completed, it's been a massive project, but the psionic library for Pathfinder is going to explode once we get these books out the door. :)

Looking forward to this. Sadly I missed out on the kickstarter. I'll have to pickup the book when it's done though.

So how soon before the Mystic Psionics rules come out? :]

I own the book... I've opened the book.

That's about as much work as I've done on Mythic ;)

You've heard it here, folks! Jeremy has officially started on Mythic Psionics! ;) j/k

that's a good point though(elbows Jeremy). that mythic book is super awesome, be a shame to see psionics left out of it...

Indeed, I was going to ask the same thing about Mythic Psionics :) It would be cool to have a special mythic path for Psi characters (maybe... Ascended? sounds cool to me) and the feats and whatnot shouldn't be too terribly difficult to do. I mean, most (if not all) of the Mythic stuff builds off of what the character already has, so... yeah :)

You literally made me laugh out loud. You deserve a cookie. :)

@Jeremy, I would also like to thank you for putting out the smaller book for those of us who already have your previous work.

Hey, wait, brilliant idea...

We start a Kickstarter to get Jeremy to write Mythical Psionics, and add it into PU. I'm willing to wait until late 2014 to get an all-in-one mega-book.

Mruhahahaha.

Yes. I'm kidding.

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

Oh please Lord, no. Plus, you'd have an angry pack of backers to deal with.

The Exchange

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Maps, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

For the record, I look forward to Mythic Psionics when you can get to it. I already have a stat block I've been working on mostly just using modified versions of stuff in Mythic Adventures.

Same here. Put me on the list of people who would love a Mythic Psionics book when/if you get to it.

Jumping on the Mythic Psionics bandwagon as well, here.

AFTER you finish Ultimate Psionics, though.

Please?

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

With as close as we are to finishing up all the new player options, I'm not touching any new projects. It's one of the main reasons I'm not participating in the Path of War discussions, my focus is on Ultimate Psionics.

Speaking of Mythic Psionics - there is going to be a bit of that in the Crossover PDF with Kobold's Deep Magic thing as I recall. Along with some Psionics as Vancian spells, and some deep magic spells as Psionics.

Maybe this has been asked before (and if so, I forgot, forgive me) but for those of us who are getting the books from the Minis KS, will said books be sent at the same time as the minis, or when the books are finished?

@ Changing Man,
Good question. I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to that myself.

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

More than likely when the books are finished, since they're likely going to need separate boxes anyway and the books should be finished before the minis and I really don't want to hang on to hundreds of copies if I don't need to. :)

Most excellent, Thanks Jeremy!

I'm hoping that once the dust starts to clear, we'll be seeing Psionic Minis II ;)

Jeremy, do you think you will release Ultimate Psionics and the supplemental booklet/PDF at the same time, or will there be a delay in releasing the separate material for those that already have the Psionics Unleashed and Advanced Psionic?

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Honestly, more than likely the supplemental book will be released first - we want that hardcover to be done right the first time given the cost of printing in hardcover, and that lets all the new stuff get reviewed while we finish layout on the big book.

Out of curiosity, are any of the Critters in the Psionic Bestiary going to be statted or laid-out for potential use as Player Characters? That humanoid peacock thing could make for an interesting character...

Well, that is great news to me! I am really excited to see the new material. Thanks!

I skimmed thru, but didn't find an answer. Is there a psionics update for hero lab? Even if its "only" psionics unleashed, I would be very grateful.

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

Psionics Unleashed is currently available for free from the d20pfsrd community repository.

We're working with Lone Wolf on getting native psionic support enabled in Hero Lab, but that's the closest thing currently available.

Even though it may mean getting the book a bit later I really, really like this idea.

I was going to suggest that once you have everything finished and the entire book laid out exactly how you want it and all ready to send off to the printers - don't send it. Send the pdf to 5 or 10 or even more people a little bit early - the kind of people who would pour through the book looking for every potential little error. Between here and the DSP forums I'm sure there are plenty of people who would do it.

(I'm not suggesting me at all. That's the kind of thing I am terrible at.)

I bought the pdf when it originally came out. I'm hopeful that Hero Lab support will come in time.

Thanks for your quick reply!

Oh, I'll be releasing the PDF to all 400+ backers before we go to print, just for that reason. :)

Speaking of releasing - here is the Paizo Pre-order for Ultimate Psionics. If you pre-order, you get the PDF for free once we release it!
