Paizo hear my plea! For years I’ve entered this competition and heard that judging was hard. Now I know that judging is hard. I’ve seen the horrible, uninspired submissions that you have seen and now I know and share your pain.
So please Paizo, end our suffering and cut the bottom 33% after one week of voting. And one week after that event cut another 33%.
Maybe it is too soon, but after spending a combined 12 hours judging pairs and finding only 2 items that were superstar, I think and hope that removing the bottom 33% will keep the voting fresh for the remaining voting period.

Laughs....
Understandable, we have to endure four more years of this to be even.
I am so sorry for the hurt we've caused.

The difference is that when the judges before saw an item they didn't like, they didn't have to see it again, and again, and again, and again. I've seen some items a dozen times that these judges may never see.
We're even.
Gosh, I'm glad these submissions are anonymous.

I hope they didn't have to see them again and again and again. Tis painful indeed.

Paizo hear my plea!
Suck it up, guys! ;-)
You were already spared the completely mind-numbing insanity of the 10% that were DQ'ed. Some for reasons that would make you implode after a single viewing. You only know a small measure of the pain. Now vote on! And endure!
And, if you can't do that, I'll be merciful and give you the only other way out:
EXPLOSIVE RUNES!!!

Quite whining you all. You think that voting on this is hard? You haven't had to create, perform and then grade a test for fourteen year students. Bah, grammar mistakes? English is damn simple grammatically. Sheesh.

And deprive the judges of this year's hearty dose of schadenfreude? No, I think not.
We have - collectively - earned this. It's time to wash the dishes our own damn selves, so to speak.

The fact that you guys had to figure out which ones to DQ...doesnt that mean you saw them all already?
Saw? Yes. But we didn't have to take any time to really read or understand all of them—we just had to make sure that they followed the rules: making sure all the pieces were there, everything was generally in English, and didn't go over word count. I can do that in a few seconds per entry. Things that that cursory look wouldn't catch were then caught by the reporting system that was available the first day.
(I speak for myself—some of the judges did read and comment on some items.)

Looking forward to more 'wonderess items' for the pinky ring slot. Also any combination of "Black" "Doom" and "Shadow" in the name would get an upvote consideration from me.
Hoping also to find a few more Bag of Everythings and maybe a Six Spells for the Price of Nones hidden in the mix.

Black shadow of doom is a great name for a multipurpose epic spellcasting artifact!

As I wait to find mine(hoping it made the 10% DQ cull) I have been wondering how some of these made it past the DQ cull. Do I vote for the stinker that's nonsensical or the stinker that doesn't even try to fallow the template? It's hard bringing my self to vote for any of the stinkers even knowing it's only to vote it less stinky than to other.

Between those two options, the one stinker that didn't follow the template ... at least it's not nonsensical.
And I am also still hoping to find my entry ... the longer it goes, the more I am thinking I did something in my submission that made it fall in that 10%...

After naps I find I wasn't nearly as funny as I thought I was before them. I'm sure the judges either find more naps or more self-restraint.
Probably the latter...

The point is, no-one expects you to go through the items dozens of times. If you start seeing a bunch of repeats, feel free to cut out. There will be a bunch of people chipping in on judging over the coming couple weeks to help relieve any 'suffering'.

I did say "most things." I'll also mention that that one kept to formula by attempting to stretch into a terrible sequel.

I'm only going until I can vote for my item once. That's all I really wanted to do. And if it was really bad I would quit. It is just a little frustrating when I see other items over a dozen times and never my own. Hopefully I didn't get disqualified for some reason and end up with no item to find. That would be sad.

There was only one Wayne's World movie, much as there was only one Highlander movie.

That is unlikely. Items get weighted more likely to appear when they have less votes. So if your item is really good or really bad, then it wouldn't get as many "equally good/bad" votes as other items, and it would take longer for you to see it.

If people are following the guidelines, there won't be many "equally good/ bad" votes; all items will have nearly an equal number of votes.

I don't think so.
I think it's reasonable to assume most people taking the time to judge items, are going to at least make an effort to do it right. If you are clicking "equally good/ bad" a lot, then you have no room to complain about seeing lots of repetitive items, you are creating the problem you are complaining about.

I didn't want to go all maximized and mythic, because I don't actually want anyone to take that way out. Just rough them up a bit before I push them back into the voting line. ;-)
Dude, you're a little more cruel than I expected.
I do like the culling suggested at the beginning of this thread. The time frames make sense as well in that it gives all items enough time to separate chaff from wheat.
