Weird no one has come here and said "yeah I have seen my item 5 or 6 times"
That's because the odds of me seeing MY item twice is much, much, much lower than the odds of seeing ANY item twice. It's the Birthday Problem in action!
Probability Theory and Voting Method problems all in one crazy event? I should start setting this process up as a Statistics curriculum for next year.

Finally saw mine after three days of hours-long voting sprees.
I'm ecstatic that it is in there and I think I can be less obsessive now.
Now the worry can set in about how it's performing...
This, in a nutshell.
Except for the last part; I'm reasonably confident there are enough items better than mine to not be particularly concerned about how mine's performing. Tending my wounds, taking notes, and hoping to do better next time around.

Ditto, actually. I've certainly seen worse stuff than mine, but I have a feeling my item is squarely in the middle somewhere.
Nevertheless, I still have that lingering anxiety that insists I broke some cardinal rule of game design and, as punishment, I am actually ranked somewhere between an "Originally created by my PC to break the crap out of the game" item and an "I saw this on Star Trek and made up my own formatting" item.

I saw my item in the fifth or sixth pairing, but then didn't see it again for two days, then saw it again - so that's twice in 4 days of voting. I have seen many, more than a dozen times - and those were especially bad ones. I was starting to worry with so many repeats and mine only appearing twice, or what that possibly means.

Oh my eyes hurt and still no luck. But having seen some of the items that made it in I'm no longer worried that I was DQ.
I'm at the same point. I haven't seen mine yet but I went back and looked at it again and I'm satisfied there's no way I was auto-DQ'd.
Sure, I can see a couple of things that might have been errors but I was under word count, clear and concise, a wondrous item, non-offensive, followed the template... etc.
The few things I look at now that I could've done a bit better are mostly pricing and maybe a tweak to the construction elements--but pricing is always tricky anyway and I know these aren't things that would get me DQ'd.
So no more freaking out for me. Though it would still be nice to actually see it and I'm sure I'll keep trudging through until I do.

Just saw mine for the first time after 4 days of almost nonstop voting on my phone. I don't know how many pairs I had gone through, but I do know I counted 20 repeats of a few different items.
Don't lose hope. If your item was an original thought in your mind, and you put your juicy creative juice into it, it didn't get DQ'd.

Still haven't seen my entry yet ... <sigh>
I too have still not seen my item.
Does this mean it is either closer to the top or the bottom than the middle??
Has anyone seen their item a dozen times? I assume people actually reading these boards took more time to submit a correctly formatted and well thought out item.
I am usually going through half a dozen pairs before I see one new item, and very very rarely now that I will see two new items paired.

I saw my item four times in the first hour and a half of voting and not at all again in the next several days.
I hope that is not a bad sign of something.
I think it is quite the opposite actually. Items with less votes get called up more frequently. The system can not tell the difference between an item that has not een voted on and an item that has been paired, but the vote went to the other item. So if your item is good and gets voted on nearly every time it is matched up (and considering the ratio of good to bad items will probably be almost every time it gets paired up) the odds of seeing it decrease as time goes on.
If you are seeing your item repeatedly now, it means very few people are voting for it.
If my understanding of the system is correct.

I just saw it again and it was paired with a far less craptacular item than the first four times, which is encouraging because it implies that people are voting it up.

Woodengolem, I kind of hope you are wrong, because I want to see more of the awesome items and get to vote for them!
On what are you basing your theory that "items with less votes get called up more frequently"?
There are three weeks of voting to go. Are we doomed to see only the bottom of the field?

I don't think that is quite right. If everyone is voting your item down you also would not see it as it sinks into the metaphorical abyss.
The only thing that could influence the frequency that you see an item at is if lots and lots of people are voting neither when it comes up.

We arent here to determine the best, we are here to the determine the worst. The abyss is all we will really see. Eventually every item at the bottom will accrue enough votes to get to the items in the middle so long as people dont keep hitting neither.
The middle then becomes the bottom and the process continues, pushing the former middle items to go up against the top items.
