Guild Land Rush Leaderboard discussion coming soon!

Pathfinder Online

CEO, Goblinworks

We did some brainstorming today and we're working on having some organized discussion for Guilds to help them recruit for the Leaderboard. There's a lot of moving pieces getting pushed around the chessboard behind the scenes here so not all parts of the promotion are up and ready for use, but we'll get there ASAP.

For now, I'd like to avoid spamming our discussion forum with a hundred threads about the Leaderboard, so if you all wouldn't mind, try to keep that conversation here for the time being!

I'm very excited for this, great idea!

When you check the votes vs. the pledges will 175$ pledges count for 2?

Goblin Squad Member

@Andius, I don't believe the votes here are tied to the Kickstarter pledges. Although I expect they will try to do something along those lines for the official final count.

Goblin Squad Member

I want to vote on that, although it wouldn't be for my own guild. But what if I'm sort of part of that guild?

Goblin Squad Member

Can backers vote for a guild without actually committing to joining?

I think that would defeat the purpose.

So... since we obviously need to be recruiting, and building our guilds early, in order to be early draft picks for settlement space, when do we get a guild subforum here? Having all the Chartered Companies in one place rather than isolated threads spread throughout one forum would certainly help newer backers find and evaluate guilds, and their members.

I'd also like an RP subforum...

Generally, we only create new subforums on paizo.com when it's clear that we have enough traffic to justify it, and we can come up with a reasonable list of subforums that each seem to have sustainable amounts of traffic.

I'd say we're pretty close to that point.

The Goblinworks forum on paizo.com is not going to get its own forums for roleplaying or off-topic forums; we don't have any desire to segregate PFO fans into their own subcommunity here. Just visit the appropriate paizo.com roleplaying and off-topic forums for that!

Yes, I saw that, but that's from before the guild leaderboard came out, with the requisite need to be recruiting. Vic may not have known this was coming - or might not consider that need to be worth the effort - but maybe a nudge or two about it wouldn't be amiss.

I am not so sure that will help with recruiting. If you put them all in a sub-group they may just be by-passed altogether (except those of us that are already part of a group and need to post something).

"Out of site out of mind" may not be a great idea.

It was mostly in response to your RP forum request.

I am sort of surprised that this title will be land granting in early enrollment instead of making us compete and scrap for it in game. Also am i to believe that to get you settlement the gm's will have to build it for you? Once built can it be deduced to nothing, and rebuilt later?

It's more like allowing the "Development" pillar to take root and some real player-created infrastructure is around (as well as iteratively adding everything oc!!) so players actually do have content to potentially dispute about, I think.

It would be useful to have a table to consult for "guilds at a glance" on such significant decisions as:

1. Timezone (primary)
2. Alignments
3. Expecations eg Hardcore, RP-friendly, etc

?

Time zone might be impossible for some guilds, TEO for example is spread all over the map including a few European members. No one holds a clear majority. As Onishi pointed out in his CC thread it would be best for those that plan on holding land to recruit from as many timezones as possible.

@Tetrix, GW said "I think" the hex you claim would include a guild house but not a settlement. That they will leave to the players. And while early guilds get to "seed" the garden as it may don't doubt for a second that the moment territorial conflict is open more than half of those guilds will be attacked and possibly wiped off the map.

I've contributed at the Crowdforger Guild level. Can the other five players I'm sponosoring vote in the Guild Land Rush if they are not personally PFO Kickstarter supporters? The whole point was to let me pay for them.

I hope thats how it goes. I also hope the tools to remove a settlement is not added so long after settlements can be added that they become nearly impossible to remove.

you know i just had a scary thought, the Goons style of mass recruitment would work really well for army building because of how the power curve will be so shallow. I a mass recruitment type guild gets some place built they may be hard to unroot. Although I guess thats how it should be.

That's the way I understand it. So if you get 6 accounts, you and the other 5 can vote. If somebody contributes at the $175 level, them and the other person they're supporting could submit their votes (for a total of 2). Etc.

Where can I see, all in one place, which guild specialized in what?

There isn't a fully detailed list but, there is one with all the current guilds. The best way is to use this list and click on each. Should take you to their thread.

I just reserved a FAWTL guild. Let the good times roll...

@All - from the information on the sticky Leaderboard link:

"All listed Guilds are credited with 6 "members" via the $500 Crowdforger Guild pledge. The person who pledged at that Reward level should not vote in this poll. Your participation is already being tracked."

There are 22 guilds in that list.

There are 52 guilds on the leaderboards.

Given the potential impact this event could have to the progress of a guild, an impact that could last YEARS this is soemthing the devs should have done something about BEFORE starting this promotion.

Something as easy as a subforum for guilds to recruit through with a sticky thread for each guild leader to introduce his guild perhaps??.

Goblin Squad Member

That probably means there are 30 backers at the guildforging level that don't frequent the forums. And again, the separate forum would just lead to all the guilds getting ignored.

Edit: There are currently 75 backers at that level. Where are all the rest, huh?

Goblinworks Executive Founder

Nah, it means the site has been difficult to access for a day or so. New guild just posted!

Goblinworks Founder

Guild membership.

I just posted a comment on update 19 regarding Guilds and how to find a group trying to form a Guild or have one but are recruiting now to add to their votes in the poll.

If there is a group trying to form a Guild, I am interested (and have a cool name to suggest).

If you are part of a Guild seeking recruits, I would be interested as well.

I hope you find Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links useful.

Some number of them are probably backing the same guild, and a number more didn't respond to the request for entry.

I expect this to Run for several months, so no Real Need to hurry.

While I don't disagree with the need for a sub-forum may I point out that any guild could ask Nihimon to put them on the list. And they would know who he was if they made a topic for their guild here because he messages every new company.

The companies with the most members have done so by being active in the community and diligently promoting themselves, both here and outside the PFO community. Not by complaining GW hasn't done enough for them.
