Gunsmithing in Society play

Pathfinder Society® General Discussion

As we all know, the default prices for guns and ammo are quite expensive. You could buy almost a half dozen daggers for what it costs to fire a gun once. The Gunslinger gets a break though, because they get the Gunsmithing feat for free, which means their ammo costs are 10% of what's listed in Ultimate Combat. The caveat, of course, is that they're crafting the stuff themselves (up to 1,000 GP of ammo per day of work).

How does this work in Society play, though? There are no crafting rolls for the Gunsmithing feat; it's just an expenditure of time. Do Gunslingers just pay reduced costs and show up to game with however much ammo they can reasonably carry/afford? Or is the crafting handled in front of a GM and signed off on, kind of like a day job check?

You get the ammo at a discounted price, there's no crafting check made. Details are in the Additional Resources:

Additional Resources wrote:
Gunsmithing does not grant the ability to craft firearms, ammunition, or black powder. Rather, it allows the purchase of bullets, pellets, black powder, and alchemical cartridges (with 1 rank in Craft [alchemy]) at the listed reduced price, but does not grant a discount on the purchase of any firearm. Resold items gained through this feat are worth half the actual cost paid, not half the regular market value for the item. No PC can purchase a gun without this feat, even if they possess the Amateur Gunslinger or Exotic Weapon Proficiency (firearm) feats.

Ah! That's more or less what I figured would be the case, but I hadn't found that in the material and wanted to be sure.

I assume the rest of the Gunslinger's stuff is normal? They can still pay 300gp to turn their starting weapon into a masterwork weapon?

Yep, that's all the same.
