I was wondering if anyone else has have been day dreaming about stories you will help tell via game play. What sorts of things to you want your character to be known for? What sort of stories do you want to build? What sort of drama do you want to be in the center of?

Goblin Squad Member

Thank you tetrix for this occasion.

Humble, kind and benevolent. I dream about saving town of bandits, finding a special ingredient to save a little ill girl. I wish to be the NPC who help the hero because he know the terrain. The boy who without his help evil would have won. I dream myself of finding donjons, keeps and ressources. I am the one who say let's talk first and than we will fight.

In the midst of battle of good and evil, he will just want to live his life. His flaw: too gullible.

My biggest dream is to live up to my aunt's legacy. She was once an explorer in these scarcely tamed lands, and I've travelled here to follow in her footsteps and make it a safer place.

-- Alantia Nightfall, Lady Bard

I may be evil but I want to be a respected researcher and a renound ancient culture archeologist. I am thinking ancient Azlanti, Cyclopi, and early Elven specialist. maybe a dabble in Arboliths. I will probably obcess with anything older than earthfall. aside from that, basic undead stuff as my major profession. so I will probably hide in plain sight as a graveyard caretaker or cleric of pharasma who likes (old things).

I may not see alot of combat.

Well I have 2 dreams.

1. Malik wishes to become a great and power wizard/Lich who creates his undead minions from his wizards tower.

2. Another being, wishes to be a simple ranger/woodsman. Who after a along day of hunting, guiding and tracking in the wood can return for a well deserved rest at his inn.

Hoping to be a tracker/bandit and spend my time defending my settlement from npc/pc's, claiming bounties, and robbing rich caravans.

It is rather simple actually: a MMO with finally an interesting characterdevelopment again that helps me best a harsh environment, and strongly ties into playerinteracton, meaning that my character both needs other players, and can also help them out.

Ok, that was not really an answer to the OP, but still. :)I have no hopes of becoming a known person in the world, I do hope however that the world will make me remember at least a few other players by name, something that the last crop of MMO's failed to do. (Not talking about discussing football with your guildies here).

My Main I want to be known for being a strong and helpful community member, assisting new players, and protecting others from all that is unjust and evil. And the best bounty hunter around.

My alt, just wants his own bar, assuming the kickstarter is not the only way to get your own tavern. I miss my cantina in star wars galaxies...

For me, the value of the mmorpg is the quality of the community, given a sandbox to develop the game in interesting ways.

Mine is long term; I will have to live up to my per-resurrected self. Phlux Soulglitch the First did a lot important things in the River Kingdoms and now Phlux Soulglitch the Returned will have to relearn his abilities, find new allies, and reestablish his legend in the current time.

To establish an kingdom that will be one of the foremost powers in this game, and a consistent force against any who seek to oppress others for their own gain.

To have a great time, build a rocking awesome character, and make a name for myself.

Goblin Squad Member

Things I want:

• A crafting and resource system at least as elaborate as A Tale in the Desert (which Pathfinder Online reminds me of).

• A crafting system that lets me do the kind of fun affect-the-world stuff that only NPCs ever get to do.

• A crafting system that lets me make robots, ideally for uses besides killing and guarding.

• Androids as a playable race.

• Robots, not just in the megadungeon but in various dungeons I find.

• Technology-focused guilds. Fleshwarping, alien technology, race creation, etc.

• Fleshwarping, and not just applying the fleshwarped template either. At the very least I want the amalgamated template, I wanna see what happens when I cross a nymph and an otyugh (though getting consent'll be tricky.

• Polymorph spells, particularly polymorph any object, being just as good in the MMO as they are in the Core Rulebook.

• Being able to create my own lair, complete with specialized rooms.

• Being able to visit the Great Beyond so I can politely ask outsiders to indefinitely work for me rather than get on their bad side with planar binding.

• Maybe visiting other planets, too. If nothing else, interplanetary portals would certainly make the territory more notable.

• Books, like in Skyrim. I want librarians to be as viable as blacksmiths here.

• Being able to have a harem-yes, Vic, I know there won't be any sex in this game. That doesn't mean there can't be pretty people to look at, right?

Simple pleasures that are almost guaranteed by early access:

I want to be a part of building things that affect the world: settlements, powerful items, even kingdoms.
I want to discover something that hasn't been discovered by hundreds before me. A location, a recipe, a tactic, I don't really mind what.
I want to be known as trustworthy, helpful and a team player - despite being a rogue.

Goblin Squad Member

I want to ride a unicorn that breathes rainbow fire and rain destruction on all the nations of Golarion. Then I will fly into space and puncture a hole in the sky, breaking the fabric of the intornets and appearing in the offices of Goblinworks.

From there Ryan Dancey will crown me the king of Pathfinder Online and I will be worshipped. Paizo employees will feed me bacon and draw daily portraits of me atop my unicorn until the end of time, or the game goes offline, whichever comes first.

All of this will happen to the tune of a T-Rex soundtrack.

A guy can dream right?

I'll tame those lands and make them into my own grand empire.

As a mistress of the arcane arts, such a thing should be an easy task.

To be equal parts feared and respected.

Goblin Squad Member

I want to be the best Armorsmith in the land. I want to make armor so good, I send adventurers on quests just to earn a peice of my masterfully crafted armor.

Also will do a little low level adventuring and help out new players learn the ropes.

When I get in game my goal might change though, being a Mass Combat commander seems like a really cool role.

As for how I want the game to play... check out my thread; http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2p9ps?My-collage-of-game-features

Being a well-known/respected bounty hunter and mercenary would be cool. Some of the best fun I've ever had in an MMO was bounty hunting in SWG pre-NGE. Though from the sound of it, the market for this role may be pretty saturated.

Maybe a bandit leader. Try to keep the group somewhere in Neutral, rather than evil. Maybe sell our services as privateers to nations at war.

I don't know if the game will support or allow this one, but it's been on my mind: Anarchist. Running an underground organization bent on the fall of powerful governments and settlements. Has the attitude that order is a disease imposed on the world by oppressive, selfish individuals who only build empires so that they may sit at their head. Trouble is, this would call for not being a member of a settlement, or at most a small one. I don't know if that would leave any way to really attack or harm the big keeps and cities.

This guy would do well to join up with The Leper Consortium.

so many ideas. can't wait to see them put into action. this is going to be an awesome game as long as we don't get to many OOCP's. I think staying in character 24/7 Unless you use pm and chat channels would be a very good thing. it was nearly impossible to rp in WoW evan an RP server. Because of all the people running around saying X item for 300gold or 5 dollars or my personal favorite hey want to help me run this dungeon so I can get this item we only have to do it 5 million times!

I always turned off Trade chat. And you can always ignore non-role-players.

I have to say I'm excited by the prospect of striving for a pillar of good and order in the game. Maybe even joining/forming a noble order of knights. :)

The most complimentary story that I would hear over a nice tall ale in a tavern would be:

Big Bad Fighter Guy sitting at the table with a few others, probably a cleric of some kind, a Paladin with his full plate polished to a shine. A roguish looking fellow and a guy in a pointy hat with burnt eyebrows.

Roguish fellow: I know my information was correct, the last folks that went to explore that cavern said there was a huge pile of treasure that they had just started to pillage when the dragon ran them off....I don't understand!!

BBFG: "Figures, we kill the beast and there's no real treasure to be had...I'm sure you had something to do with it not being there...I'll be watching you...."

Cleric and Pointy Hat guy: "We blew almost all of our spells, set up the fight with the dragon perfectly, slew him and for what....a few hundred gold and some silver!! Geez."

Paladin: "We vanquished a terror upon the land, that alone is reward enough!"

My guy, sitting at a nearby table buys a round of drinks for the downtrodden group. And says: "Tough go of it eh? Have a round of the best in the House on me, I had a good day today!"

He had overheard the conversation between the rogue and the informant earlier in the day. He had left the cavern in question a few hours before they came to fight, making off with most of the the treasure while never waking the dragon....

Some of the best stories are those that are left untold.

I can't wait to mess around with PFO!

Put 'em near the temples of Cayden Cailean (read: alehouses), and we can have ourselves a party!

But more seriously, creating a town where the main focus is coin. Somewhere that can serve as a giant trading center, ruled by a Lich-King of neutrality. Also, profit.

Goblin Squad Member

Craft some swords, maybe build some roads and walls. Hopefully ones people will see for all time.

I'm sure I'll go on an adventure or two though. Maybe even an unexpected journey.

I want to be known as an honourable assassin. I do not take contracts because someone called you dumb, I take them because they have wronged you. Slay someone for fun who is far less skilled than you, the contract may end up being free.

Additionally I would like to look into launching a settlement for mercenaries and rogues. Rogues being those who do not have a home, sort of like a pirate town might be. Idea of a mercenary nation so anyone has a place to call home is what I want to see.

Goblin Squad Member

I want to take my place in the shield wall. I've not yet been tested like a true warrior, and I hunger to break the shields of my enemies and to dance in the rage of battle.

I'm going to make a name for myself in the shield walls of the River Kingdoms and throw down those that oppose me!

Settlement/Nation level PvP oriented around alignment. I don't want to have just red team vs. blue team--I want to be part of an alliance of the righteous, allied with celestial beings, taking on literally diabolical or infernal foes.

Goblin Squad Member

Also, "Evil" characters not automatically as the villains. You can be evil while still being an upstanding member of society, after all.

I don't think that's the case in Golarian. To be evil--that is, to serve Asmodeus, to sacrifice victims to Rovagug, to complete assassination contracts, to create undead, etc., is what it means to not be upstanding, and to be a villain opposed by every paladin, good cleric, and other servant of good.

Alignment isn't ethics--it's metaphysics.

Perhaps you mean you can be evil while still being a powerful & respected member of society? In that case, I would say you are correct. There will no doubt be at least a few very Evil, very high-Reputation characters.

House Thrune of Cheliax for example.

Waruko wrote:

Well, probably by being Stupid Evil, in this. It is really, really hard to make an Evil character who's also an upstanding member of society, and it mostly relies on motivation more than action.

Also, all but the ones that are directly serving a diety are arguable.

Say you're getting paid to go empty a small holding of a group of people who moved in (when it was unclaimed!), by killing them. Is that Evil? After all, it's assasination, effectively!

Spoiler:
Because if so, all those adventurers who go clear out caves of monstrous races that are minding their own business? Evil. Even the paladin.

@Nihimon: No, I mean upstanding. Contributing to the community, helping it grow, and so on. High-rep Evil is another story- think Lex Luthor, instead of, say, an utterly ruthless merchant with an interest in getting the town built and improved. Lex is nearly mindless in his desire to rid the world of Supes, and refuses to be sensible and make a killing from his inventions. That's stupid evil, and not contributing to the community at all. The merchant, though? He's willing to sell to the community, to help it grow, because he sees a far greater chance of profit ahead. Pragmatic Villany, in essence.

Goblin Squad Member

@The-Mage-King, the best I can summon is Swearingen from Deadwood. He fits, I think, your definition of Upstanding in that he is actually trying to benefit the community, even though he's a murderous (( common epithet from that show omitted )).

I highly doubt that. I've used every word that would fit at least once here. Its what's the censor is for. Though I am pleased to see bastard worked.
