Salim Ghadafar?

Does anyone know what class & level Salim Ghadafar is from Death's Heretic?

Thanks!

Don't know his level - I'd say it's pretty high, though - but his class is Inquisitor.

Kajehase is correct, he is an Inquisitor.

Minor Spoilers:
It is tough to guess his level because he doesn't use spells very often. We see him use Expeditious Retreat (in pursuit of Delini) and an unknown level of cure spell.

He has not cast any other spells at the point that I am in the book (second read through, I'm currently in Chapter 20). He takes on a Babau Demon (CR6) alone and triumphs.

So, he's got at LEAST 6 levels in Inquisitor, probably more.

I just saw this thread! But you're all pretty much spot-on.

One thing to consider, though: Was he *always* an inquisitor? Or did he gain levels in other classes during his childhood/military training...?

Good point! He probably has at least one level of Fighter. Given that he was a commander and took out some warriors with relative ease, he may have more than one.

So, my thought is that he's around level 6 with a mix of Fighter and Inquisitor. I guess if I were to try to roll up Salim Ghadafar, I'd make hime a Fighter 3/Inquisitor 3.

I think I might go a little higher, with maybe even as many as 10 character levels. I guess what might be termed his philosophical opposition to using his own spell-casting ability makes it hard to figure out, though, yeah.

I may just be being influenced by my personal gaming experience here--none of my characters ever even considered doing the kind of plane-hopping he does until reaching north of 10th level, but that probably just speaks to the fact that I haven't managed to get a character above 4th level since the mid-80's! ;) I have high hopes for my newest Society character though, who'll coincidentally be applying the Death's Heretic Chronicle sheet before this weekend's game.

Anyway, Aaron, if you do stat Salim out, please post it here if you don't mind (and if nobody else minds), it would be fun to see.

Cheers,

Christopher

Actualy, to me it always seemed that

Spoiler:
after being chosen by the Lady of the Graves to be her unwilling servant, he should be an Oracle... it's just a perfect match, flavor-wise.

I would peg him at 8 or 10, Fighter/Inquisitor.

I just finished rereading the book today and I now recall that he also casts a second level spell. That means that his Inquisitor level is at least 4th level. So he's at the very least a Fighter 2/Inquisitor 4.

He is likely much much higher in Inquisitor than just level 4, given his age, but there's not a lot of information to gauge off of. I'm wondering if we will get to see him cast more spells in the next novel. Toward the end he notes that each time he uses Pharasma's power it gets easier and he sees how people could begin to enjoy it.

Christopher Rowe, if I were to stat him up, I would post him. It's not something that I'm in the habit of doing, though. I only go so far as looking for the information to guess at character/class level. I like that authors have the freedom to take characters wherever they would like without a statblock to limit them.

If anyone else decides to post up a Salim Ghadafar statblock, I would be interested in seeing it.

Now I need to find the time to get a long overdue review of this book written.

Considering he was a "hunter" I could see him having ranger levels instead of fighter levels. I could also see his first favored class being humanoid (human) and his second favored class being undead.

He does use a lot of investigative skills, and ranger/inquisitor would have given him better access to those options. Urban ranger, especially.

Ranger/Inquisitor/Champion I would think. He's most likely Mythic.

He definitely has a few levels in Very Awesome Character.

I would think a fighter/inquisitor. In the Redemption Engine he is casting at least 2nd level spells, detect thoughts. I am not that far into it though.

Silver Crusade

A Cavalier with The Order of tht First Law would also make some sense.

He probably has the rahadoumi disbeliever trait.

Now if he was a Pure Legion Enforcer is the big question. Maybe he was and retrained into inquisitor. He probably has the heretic archetype.

I'd guess fighter/inquisitor. He may actually have a decently high inquisitor level, but be held back by a refusal to use his class abilities.

Redemption Engine:
An astral deva represents the upper limit of his combat ability - stronger than he could beat through martial skill alone, but the deva, while winning, was having to put some real effort into it.

I'm going to guess something like fighter 5/inquisitor 7. Maybe less fighter levels, more inquisitor levels. I believe Salim's pretty powerful but has a serious self-imposed handicap.

He's also demonstrated a couple powers that inquisitors simply don't have, like

Death's Heretic:
breath of life.

Edit: I'm guessing fighter over other martial classes because Salim shows consistently good martial competence at all times, rather than being "bursty" and I can't picture a Rahadoumi actually going ranger - too much asking nicely of the nature spirits involved.

Silver Crusade

I think it's been said somewhere that while though wary of them that the Rahadoumi don't have a problem with Rangers and Druids since they use Nature magic, not Deity's.

There's also the skirmisher and trapper archetypes that get rid of spellcasting.

As much as I personally prefer the ranger, I imagine him having the Free Hand Fighter archetype and lots of inquistor levels.

I'm actually in need of replacing my PC and would start at lvl 8 (homebrew, CRB and APG only).
Could anybody share first hand experience with such a build (fighter5/inqui3)?
Thanks.
