Hi everyone. I was thinking if gettig one of these. I was wondering if anyone used either of these and if you could buy Paizo PDFs directly from the device. I tried to buy one from my iPhone yesterday and it couldn't download it. Thanks!

I haven't tried to download them directly, but I've been pleased with those Paizo .pdfs I've viewed on my Nook Color.

I wouldn't focus on Paizo's PDFs to decide which tablet to get. Go to a Best Buy or similar store and actually look how PDFs are displayed. Also, different apps display PDFs differently.

I purchase a lot of gaming PDFs besides Paizo's. I originally had a Kindle but I couldn't display/read the Core Rulebook nor a few other ones. But instead of returning it and going for a better Kindle, I went with an iPad 2. I started with iBooks to display but moved to GoodReader. So I would get the tablet you are comfortable with and then find the right app to display PDFs.

Yep, apps are key. On Android, try ezPDF--it's my #1 choice for a reader. Both the Nexus 7 and Kindle can run ezPDF. The big limit with both devices is the 7" screen (same for the smaller iPad) as you'll have either really small text or have to scroll around for reading. Some folks are okay with that, others not (I prefer the 10" tablets for PDFs). However, even in this a good PDF reader will "flow" the reading by columns to help in reading.

I'd be really torn between the Nexus 7, Kindle, and Nook, but the Nexus would be my top choice for PDFs due to the quad core processor and lack of vendor-added "skin" over the standard Android UI.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I ended up ordering a Nexus 7. I agree the 7" screen isn't ideal for PDFs, but it'll be better than my 4S and that $199 price tag is a lot more doable.

Main issue you are going to have is that Paizo PDFs are downloaded as zip files. So you will need both something to unzip the file and something to read them with. I have not looked for an unzipper for either device yet, but would guess youare more likely to find one on the nexus as it runs a purer Android than the Kindle.

I've used 4 different Android devices (3 phones and a Kindle Fire) and never had a problem with the zip files of Paizo PDFs. In fact I just downloaded one about 15 minutes ago.

Just following up a bit. I've generally found the Pathfinder Rules PDFs to be very slow to page through for reading on any tablet or phone.

I *just* grabbed Perfect Viewer for Android and I'm finding it to be much faster than any of the other readers (PDF, eBook, etc.) so far. Their website claims that you'll want a device with extra RAM to get that speed advantage though.

What are everyone else's experiences?

Last week I woulda said neither; I mean I woulda said, "Neither."

See, I had just watched me some awesomesauce Milla Jovovich kickin dat infected zombie ass outta her sexy way, and when her suppo team shimmied they way to 'help' her (if, you know, 'help' means get in the way and almost get her sweetness and a cute tagalong clone killed at ever friggin turn), they used a totally rockin Sony S!

I went and bought one and loaded some kickass Resident Evil junk on it and decided to COSPLAY at the local abandoned missile base (I live la vida loca in central Alaska)...immediate error message: "temperature range exceeded", and didn't that biahtch shut down and never turn on again! I don't understand-- they used the same exact Sony S to crack into an abandoned Soviet base in the arctic--maybe American arctic bases are colder.

Anyway, don't buy a Sony S if you want to outdoors COSPLAY ResEvil in Central Alaska in the winter.
