Material that is allowed: Pathfinder Core Rulebook, Advanced Players Guide, Ultimate Combat, and Ultimate Magic. May allow Psionics from Dreamscarred Press. Haven't read the books but have the material. Characters start at 1st level. 20 Point Attribute Build.
I don't need a rich background for characters. Essentially you are going to Rappan Athuk to rid the evil of this horrendous place or loot the place for power. This thread is for players discussion between session. You can spread out loot here, talk about the game, talk about whatever you like.
Since the campaign setting uses the generic world of Necromancer Game which is loosely connected through various model. The Gods are bit different from the ones found in the Pathfinder Core Rulebook. I'm posting the Good/Neutral Gods of the Campaign. So if you play a divine character you associate with one of them. Mitra, God of Law,
Thyr, God of Law and Justice
Muir, Goddess of
Freya, Goddess of
Arden, God of the Sun
Telophus, Lord of
Telophus, Lord of
Kel, Goddess of Self-Sacrifice,
Vanitthu, God of
Know evil gods: Orcus: Demon Lord of the Undead, Tsathogga: Demon Fog God, Hecate: Goddess of Evil Magic, Set: God of Evil & Night, Kal'Ay-Mah: The Black One, The Black Mother, Hel: Goddess of Death, Lady of Pestilence.
As far as background go I mentioned you don't need anything special. The group is going to start off knowing each other. You are from Bard's Gate, which is large city in the world. Through taverns rumor and research you learned that their alternative entrance to Rappan Athuk outside of the Trading Post of Zelkors Ferry. The main entrance of the mausoleum is extremely deadly(IE meant for higher level characters) and the surrounding area has the same level of deadliness. So the group at the start of the first session will be arriving at Zelkor Ferry at the start of the first session. Getting settle in and ready to explore. The main motivation of the group should be the destroying the foul evil place once and for all or the rumor of the vast amount of wealth, knowledge, and magic that lie within the complex. Some Key Points: -The Rappan Athuk is not some secret area of the world. Rumors have spread throughout the region of this deadly complex. Hundreds of Adventurer parties have ventured to the region over the decade to explore and plunder. Not many if any have ever returned. -The Campaign is setup as a sandbox. So depending on where you go and the actions you take you can potential find something very trivial or something well beyond your mean. This is a very large campaign with numerous area to explore. -The majority of this campaign is a dungeon crawl.
Hey wolf I have one slot left. We are using Roll20 for the tabletop and a mic is required. Right now the group looks like a paladin, barbarian, alchemist, rogue and someone might be playing another paladin, ranger, or cleric. He hasn't decided yet.
wolfheart wrote: Sorry, I don't have access to the tech you listed above, I will keep an eye on the journal though to see how the others fair. Thanks for the consideration. Hey Wolf, In case you reconsider Roll20.net is a free virtual table top so it isn't something that you are required to pay or even download. To the others in the campaign I'll be playing the rogue in the campaign. Don't worry about your pockets just stay out of my crossbow's line of sight!
I think we are full now. We have six players now. Well its an online campaign and it's probably only 4 lol. Well I'm hoping everyone is committed to the game. I've already prep a good portion of Roll20 with maps & minis. We can use this thread to describe and introduce your characters so we can skip that part when we begin.
Sup guys, I'm playing a dwarf barb who enters rappan athuk for personal glory and untold riches. He doesnt care for the plight of the people that live around rappan athuk as far as he concerned is their fault for living near such a forsaken place but I'm sure if you take the time to know him hes not as bad as he seems.
I like that dwarf barb you got there Goblin Muncher. A little about my character, Torald is a dwarven rogue who has come to Rappan Athuk to search for the whereabouts of some of his clansmen. In particular he is looking for the leader of his clan Prince Obbrey Dargojodeth who journeyed into Rappan Athuk almost 2 years ago. Sworn to discover the whereabouts of Prince Obbrey's Torald hopes that to uncover that something did befall Obbrey and return home before Rappan Athuk claims him as its next victim.
The Cast of Characters. Have most of the sheets in. Just waiting on two, but here is the group. Brenden - Magus
If you didn't select a campaign traits from the Advanced Players Guide you can. You get two per the book. The group will be just arriving in Zelkor's Ferry when the adventurer began. You already know each through the Explorers Society out of Bard's Gate. The Society is a loose group of adventurers that share information on the whereabouts of lost secrets, treasures, dungeons, etc. You heard that there was alternative entrances to Rappan Athuk outside of Zelkor's Ferry called the Mouth of Doom. The Main Entrance has been rumored to be extremely deadly. If you have a token you want me to use for your miniature or a picture that I can turn into a token shoot me it through e-mail. Otherwise I have a few random tokens setup.
Some houserules..... Rule 1: Have Fun
I ran a couple of sessions with Roll20 but I'm not an expert. So I'm sure we'll be getting used to the program together. I'll send out a link to the room tomorrow night or monday. Okay, so Rappan Athuk is a big freakin dungeon with something like 50plus levels and multiple side-levels. The Dungeon has the reputation for being very brutal but also very rewarding. The area the group will going through is the Mouth of Doom which actually not too bad compared to the rest of the complex. The campaign is almost 100% Dungeon Crawl. So it's primarily going to be about exploring, killing, traps, treasure, puzzles, etc. It's a challenging dungeon once you get in deeper. So expect characters to die. Have a backup ready. I also have some pregens if someone dies and needs someone to take his place.

I like that background. I'm going to try to work that into the campaign. Very cool. We have another dwarf in the group. Maybe both of you can be from the same clan and are both looking for Obbrey.
Hey there. This would be Vennel/Brenden. I'm not really all that good with introductions and the like, but here's mine, at least for my character: My human Magus, Garry Swordmagic is the sort of Magus who hunts for objects of arcane importance either for studious purposes or purposes in which he gains an edge. So when he heard about Rappan Athuk, and that there might be a powerful sort of sword called a Black Blade (running a bladebound Magus) inside, he was all over that. Short and sweet. Not much to it I guess. I'm not really much of one to create backgrounds out of the blue (if that wasn't already obvious). This character is an adaptation of one I have, but the material for this campaign makes him unplayable (he uses a few books that we're not using). Anyways, I look forward to playing with you guys soon. PS. I have my character set as an atheist for this campaign. But as a sort of joke, on my mythweaver, the diety is listed as Carl Sagan. Just wanted to mention that, in case you took that seriously at all.
Along an old and mistreated road, that ran through a backwater village, the lone wagon of a trader lost one of it's most prized items. A half- elven boy. Harl had snuck out of the wagon to play. He had wandered off to far. When he had returned his family was gone. He walked long into the night. A traveling cleric named Terfin Hew found him asleep under a tree. Terfin promised that he would help find his family. Over the years they searched many city and trade routes. The year's had passed and Terfin taught Harl about the god Thyr and the cleric ways. After Terfin had passed away from old age He continued to travel looking for any news about his parents. A year ago Harl had several months which he simply cannot account for. He has no idea where he was during that time or what he did. His desire to learn these things is tempered by his fear of what he may discover. Karl has come to Rappan Athuk for riches to help him continue his search.
Ravus hails from the far north, and still favors fur-lined clothing. He carries a walking stick that is topped with a round white stone. He is quick with a booming laugh and a powerful slap on the back. Large for a mage, standing over 6 feet tall and more than 200 lbs. Ravus reasons for dungeon delving can best be called "field research." Fed up with sorcerers and wizards, both of whom insist their particular path to power is 'right', he seeks to bring their disciplines closer together by coupling book study with true field experience. ...and also he also likes gold and magic items. But mostly for the research... really! For a picture of Ravus, you can check here:
Good game last night gents. Figure this thread can also help with a little out-of-combat talk. When the group turns in for the night, Ravus tromps over to the Magus and gives him a slap on the back. "I see you enjoy color spray as well, an all-around useful spell I find! I'd be interested to know what others you've brought with you, the better for us to coordinate our efforts. You may have noticed that I don't use a spellbook. I prefer the memorize my spells permanently. Unfortunately I've only committed a small number to memory so far, though I am working on others." "At the moment I am prepared with spells of mage armor and color spray. I also know an array of minor spells, one to read magic, one to detect it. One that evokes a ray of cold, one that can daze an opponent, and of course one that creates small lights for me to see by. I can also create a bolt of arcane energy, but the effort leaves me drained."

Groose wrote: Jarum might suggest a tactical retreat. I feel like we may need to explore more and/or level up before taking on the bandit leader. I don't think we have much of a choice it's not like we can close the door and say oops sorry wrong room :) We have the advantage they need to come down the hallway and they outnumber us so they can't use that against us. We also have the half-orc with a big greatsword and lots of colour sprays. We take it to them before they take it to us.
True. What is the range on the cleric's channel healing anyways? Could the cleric just back out so that only we are in range, and just keep doing that to keep jarum in the front so he can cut down/shoot anyone coming at us? While Gary and Ravus use color spray on anyone getting closer? I think this fight could be pretty easy if we play it smart.
Guys next Monday we have a game. Then the following to Mondays are on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Don't think I'm doing anything on Christmas Eve and can probably run a game from 8pm to 11pm. If that doesn't work do people have alternative night those weeks?

Don't think I'm doing anything on Christmas Eve and can probably run a game from 8pm to 11pm. If that doesn't work do people have alternative night those weeks? I'm not the one who mentioned it, but I do have a friend who would be interested in joining the game. I don't want to snipe the position away from whoever jumped on it on Monday, but I'll have him e-mail you just in case. For those 2 weeks, that's unfortunate timing. I'll be with family both days. I would be available Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday either week (26, 27, 28 or 2, 3, 4)
as for the who put the two bits in about a buddy that was interested, that'd be me. But as for christmas eve I don't think I have anything going on yet, but that may change in the next few days. I'll be sure to let you guys know as soon as possible. And honestly the week of xmas eve I have no idea how busy it'll be. I work retail and I won't find out my schedule until sometime next week, due to the holidays making it impossible to request time off, and we are getting less than regular shifts in order to fill all shifts. But as for new years eve, that night itself I think I'm busy, but new years day, I'm free. I should also have some time available sprinkled throughout that week as well. Typically I work very early mornings (4:00 am PST until noon) so I should be available in the evenings all that week. I'll have my friend send you the email.
Hey guys, sorry I'm so last minute. Anyway. I'm Tyler, and will be playing your Barbarian, Susan, for this campaign. Susan was raised by a very high-class family from a somewhat-distant land, they tried teaching Susan many things, but Susan didn't like learning. Susan enjoyed playing with kitchenware, but not cooking. Susan didn't like how her family treated her and insisted she do things like learn, so she left home a few years back. Susan just wants to do things that are fun and exciting, so she decided to adventure. After recently arriving in town Susan heard about this place called Rappan Athuk and thought it sounded like a great start for her adventuring legacy.
Experience for Session 2 4 Bandits: 800
Players Susan, Torald, Ravus, Jarum, & Harlston
If you leveled up send me an updated character sheet.
Okay all, Happy New Year. The game is back on track starting this Monday. Is everyone good to go for the 7th? Looking forward to restarting the game. Also if you leveled up send me an updated character sheet if you haven't.
In an effort to get things prepared before game session, even though I have just sent the character off for approval, I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Willie, and I will be playing a Paladin named Adjo (pronounced Ah-Jo). As a child, Adjo was often scared of the dark until one night his fears seemed to manifest into a source of magical light. Believing this innate magic gift to be of divine origin, the elders of the village sent Adjo to the temple of Muir. Not one for the more delicate aspects of the clergy, Adjo focused in the martial roles and became a Paladin instead. As word of Rappan Athuk spread, Adjo felt compelled to bring the protection of Muir and make a name for himself in the process.
