When Can We Expect to See Forum Subsections?

I'm sure many of you have played other games where the forums are divided into sections such as:

General Discussion
--Suggestions
--FAQ

Community
--Guild Recruitment
--Roleplay

Off Topic

When can we expect to see something like this from PFO? I would really like to discuss off topic and roleplay subjects which right now seems inappropriate. I would like to see suggestions distinguished from general discussion of the game and I would REALLY like to see a guild section without a time limit on post editing. Plus I am guessing some of these smaller guilds would appreciate not having their topics buried.

I think they've said before that they plan to have all that when Goblinworks starts hosting the forums themselves, instead of piggy-backing on Paizo's forums.

As to when that's gonna be... *shrug*

I have to say, while it might not seem top priority having well laid out forums would help a bit. Forums are a great place to make a first impression. While I am still very much cautiously optimistic about PfO, their forums never made that great of an impression on me.

Well forums are really where the community starts. Having a roleplay and off topic sections gives people a reason to come here who may not want to discuss and debate game mechanics all day, and getting people hooked into guilds gives them more ties to the community. Something that having editable guild topics all in one place instead of scattered through pages of topics would surely help with.

Pretty much this, as far as I know. I'd like to see them too, but I guess that's just how it goes. Hopefully it won't take too long, but if it does I guess nothing we could do but wait.

Doesn't really answer my question. I figured we would get new forums in October with the goblin squad icons.

Kind of hoping on a dev response on this one. "Before 2014" or " We have no idea" would be acceptable answers. "In three to five months" or "February" would be even better ones.

My guess is we'll see one when GW gets the ball rolling on the release game and aren't swamped in planning.

To make things easy for GW, I want to see the forums/website open up when they are ready to create the account system that will eventually link to the game.

I'd like to see a vBulletin setup if they can bridge the accounts.

As others have said, I expect that stuff when GW moves the game to it's own site.

Now that the game is going to happen, I would wager that it is 'in the works', but since we are looking at 1.5-2 years until they even start letting people in for the beta, I can't imagine that it is a pressing issue.

Maybe 6 months? That would still leave at least a year before the first players will be creating permanent characters.

Yeah... I'd way rather just wait for a dev answer than make speculations. Like I said "We don't have an answer right now but we'll get back to you when we do." Is a fine answer to me. I just want to know where they currently stand on the matter. If it is something they are making plans for or not. So if they tell me they have no answer then I at least know they haven't set down a timeline themselves yet.

It would be nice to have proper forums that notifies you of replies, emotes and allowing you to upload an avatar.

I really enjoy the Alias functionality they have on these forums. I hope they can keep it available on the Goblinworks forums when they arrive.

Generally, we only create new subforums on paizo.com when it's clear that we have enough traffic to justify it, and we can come up with a reasonable list of subforums that each seem to have sustainable amounts of traffic.

I'd say we're pretty close to that point.

The Goblinworks forum on paizo.com is not going to get its own forums for roleplaying or off-topic forums; we don't have any desire to segregate PFO fans into their own subcommunity here. Just visit the appropriate paizo.com roleplaying and off-topic forums for that!

The lack of rolrplaying forums is disappointing. Given the length of time before we can get in game, starting a solid RP community is important - and having PFO RP threads in a subsection of the PFO forum area would be convenient, and easier for new people to find.

So far we have taken to RPing in our GL thread but, we got an RP section set up on our boards now. I am sure when the goblinworks forums go up there will be a section for that 2.

Agreed. And the other thing I would say is I don't have a great deal of interest in RPing with the entire Pathfinder community, or talking Off-Topic with them either. I'm much more interested in establishing relationships with people I will be seeing in-game. I want to see RP centered around the River Kingdoms and characters that will end up there.

The Pathfinder community is huge, not dedicated to establishing stories that work their characters into PFO, and has had a very mixed reaction to it.

I understand you want us to mix with the general Paizo community, but it's just too darn broad. Most of the regulars here barely go outside the PFO section anyway and I don't think denying us subsections will change that. I want to talk to this community here about something other than game mechanics. They are just slightly less tiring to discuss than religion and politics. Which is to say I love discussing them, but I need to mix it up a bit.
