Heavy Repeating Crossbow + Rapid Reload does... what?

Advice

Considering an Inquisitor build that makes use of mounts + a Heavy Repeating Crossbow (HRC) but I'm not exactly sure what Rapid Reload does for the HRC. Does Rapid Reload reduce the reload time of a HRC to a move action?

Thanks a bunch...

Unfortunately, I don't think it does anything. Ask your GM about letting it do something anyways.

from what i get from raw it does nothing. the feat states Hand , light and reavy but does not say anything about reapeating

Rapid Reload (Combat)

Choose a type of crossbow (hand, light, heavy) or a single type of one-handed or two-handed firearm that you are proficient with. You can reload such a weapon quickly...

Silver Crusade

it would make it faster to reload the bolt case. Although not official it looks like it takes down the amount of time by one category. Changing the case is a full round action. So with Rapid reload you could do it as a move action. (a hvy cross bow is full round and goes to a move action, so i would treat it the same way.) It would be up to the GM but I wouldn't see it giving someone an extra shot with the repeater if that is what he is going for. If it is for an extra shot get rapid shot.

Rapid Reload with Muskets only reduces the Full Round Action to a Standard. Just giving more data.

That's what I'm seeing as well, RAW the feat does nothing for a Heavy Repeating xbow, but as a GM I'd probably allow the feat to be used to reduce the action necessary to a standard action, just like with the other full-round weapon, the musket.

It brings it to a standard Full Round - 1 step = Standard, still a good feat because you can reload and move out rather then stand there fumbling.

there's also Crossbow Mastery to avoid provoking and reduce reload times further.

Thanks, all! Just the info I was looking for.

It reduces it to a standard action, but if you get crossbow mastery it reduces it to a free action (in which case you might as well save a few gold and buy a regular heavy crossbow)

The Exchange

It's a pity abundant ammunition (Ultimate Combat page 222) isn't on the inquisitor spell list - that spell made repeating crossbows viable!
