Bestiary box 2, please include on the pawn the knowledge check

Product Discussion

I thought the bestiary box was amazing, the truth is I value my minis a lot and will most likely only take the coolest ones with me for epic fights like against liches, maybe a giant or two and even though the fight wouldn't necessarily be epic, goblins. The only thing I think would've been an improvement to an already amazing product would be having the appropriate knowledge check also stuck at the top of the pawn (perhaps in small italic letters). It can be a little difficult remembering which types belong to knowledge planes, religion or even local (for instance I THINK fey fall under nature, but arcana(arcane?) also seems to fit).

Any chance you guys could please include the relevant knowledge check on your next pawns?

Unfortunately, that will give information away to the players.

Example: You are facing some unknown creature. The GM asks you to make a knowledge check and then asks you to hand him your character sheet. He grunts noncommitally, says ok, and then tells you nothing. Was it a planes check? Was it Arcana? You (the player) do not know.

Example 2: Same setup but on the mini you see a tiny little Kn: Pl. Ahha! It must be a planar creature. You ask yourself: Hmmm, what do I know about planar creatures? They usually have spell resistance. Better hit them with something that bypasses SR.

Summary: I would rather they not include the knowledges on the cardboard minis. As I have to reference the creatures statblock anyhow I will know what type the creature is. Now I can reference my handy dandy 3x5 notecard where I have knowledges for each creature type listed. Or I can reference my post it note on the statblock where I placed that information earlier.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Having seen the pawns and knowing the name of the monster is covered by the base, it's obvious to me that the same could be done with the knowledge check info.

DigMarx, good point. If the information was covered by the base it would not be a problem. However, the OP asked for the information to be at the top, where it would not be covered up.

Those are good points, I think Digmarx made a good suggestion on a fix for that.

I agree, he did.
