Cao Phan brought up the Hunter's Sight in his Rock throwing thread. It's basically a monocle that reduces ranged penalties. What are your thoughts of changing Bumi's flavor to that of a dapper gentleman with a top-hat and monocle?

I think I would sooner change the flavor of the monocle to the character.

Character concepts should dictate gear, not the other way around! :)

EDIT: I've added the hunter's sight and a bag of holding to Bumi's character sheet. Lost the adamantine property of his pick though.

While I agree, the idea of a well dressed gentleman in a top hat, monocle and a pocket watch, fighting monsters by throwing rocks at them with astonishing speed and destructive force is just too funny to not at least consider.

I was wondering, how much did it actually cost to make Beiro (Angol's Golem)? I'm planning on building my own construct builder, and Beiro seemed to be a pretty good construct.

Here's the breakdown:

21,500.00 - Clay Golem Base Cost
15,000.00 - Additional HD Cost (+6)
25,000.00 - Size Increase
15,000.00 - Advanced Simple Template Cost
00,500.00 - Golem Creation Laboratory
20,000.00 - Shield Guardian Amulet Base Cost
02,750.00 - Amulet Intelligence Additional Costs
-----------------------------------------------------------
99,750.00 - FINAL COST

How did you come up with the Advanced Template's cost and size increases? I'm not sure where I'd find that.

Pretty sure it's right there in the Core Bestiary's golem entry. If not, check Ultimate Magic's construct section.

Yep, it seems to be in Bestiary 1. Lovely!

Ravingdork, have you considered the insanity that is Garr at 9th level when she could have Cleave, Lunge and Great Cleave?

Or... even crazier... Garr as she is, multiclassed into a Ranger that worships Saranrae, taking her Ranger Combat Style, which gives Whirlwind Attack at 6th for a Ranger (10th level for Garr). With her bloodline, Longarm, Enlarge, and Lunge her reach will be 25 ft. and if she uses a reach weapon, it's 50 ft. Combine that with a weapon like spiked gauntlets (so she still threatens within 25 ft.) and she can make a Whirlwind Attack and hit everything within 50 ft. of her.

What happens if the above multiclass!Garr and Kang Makhai have a child?

I have changed Thelyn Cabor from a conjurer, into an exploiter wizard. He can now do pretty much everything he could before, but better.

He lost his Arcane Bond (ring), but gained Forge Ring.
He lost Dimensional Steps, but gained Dimensional Slide.
He lost Fast Study, but gained Quick Study.
He lost Summoner's Charm, but gained Spell Tinkerer.

He also gained the ability to add +2 to his spell DCs or caster level.

Syrania (and her mythic counterpart) now have new, improved servants.

I'm quite curious how you plan to rock the Skald? How much axe will be involved with that?

Haven't even read it yet. Only a matter of time though. I intend to have all the classes represented at some point.

I saw your link in another post so i decided to check it out. your website though seems to be down at this time, i'll check again later

Didn't read to the bottom did you?

I believe there is this little section with an update message at the very end of the opening post:

Update wrote:
For those of you new to the gallery, you should know that many of the links in this post and in the next few hundred posts are no longer supported since my web hosting service subscription expired. For access to the new and improved character gallery, please use the new "master link," which contains all of the gallery's characters old and new, as well as several additional useful roleplaying tools and artwork, all in one easy to find location. I suggest you bookmark the master link and check back to this thread frequently for new characters and updates. Thank you so much for visiting the Emporium! Please feel free to leave your thoughts and comments, point out potential errors in the character sheets, or share your own character concepts and ideas.

Check out the master link, where all the character sheets and various other tools have long since been moved to.

And after all the trouble I went through trying to get support to add that update message too! Young people! Never sticking around long enough to learn anything! ;P

"after all the trouble I went through trying to get support to add that update message too"

couldn't you have just deleted the old links at the same time?

I agree that I should have read the post all the way through however, my bad

I wanted to keep the general list of names and descriptions. Makes the gallery much more appealing to newcomers.

You may not be aware, but Paizo has a 1 hour limit for edits. Once the hour is up, the post can't be changed anymore without a Moderator. Ravingdork had to make a thread elsewhere to ask for a Mod to come edit his post with the link to the updated Emporium.

I am aware of this, what I was saying was in relation to what he said: that he went through all the trouble to add a link. What I was saying is at that time he could have asked to unlink the chars that clearly don't work anymore, I don't think this is unreasonable I am just saying that it would cause less confusion. I do however admit that I should have read all the way through the post instead of skimming.

That thought had not occurred to me. I wasn't certain that they were going to edit my post at all, so I kept the change as simple as possible, basically instructing them to copy and paste the text that I provided them to the end of the post.

In hindsight, I suppose I could have rewritten the entire post, and forwarded that to them instead, but it's a bit late for that.

I may entreat them again, since the whole point in the first place was to avoid the confusion you yourself encountered.

Sedna is a debuffer and tech support character. She can repair and recharge items, and allows the other team members to use tech effectively.

Sedna is a child of prophecy, said to be a reincarnation of a mystical force of creation and destruction. She adventures seeking to understand the world and herself. She wields arcane magic and some spells normally reserved for divine spellcasters as a witch, and after travelling to Numeria began her studies of the strange magics (technology) found in that strange land.

Sedna is inspired by the Sedna from Inuit (eskimo) mythology. I'm a PhD student in American Indian Studies, when I teach undergraduates I usually start with the pointy witch hat story to introduce myself:

The Yupik creation story that I am familiar with is that my people were created by Sedna the Evil Sea Witch. Evil Sea Witch is probably a European translation. In the stories Sedna could be generous towards her people when she was inclined to be, but could be scary and dangerous at other times. When translated from a European perspective, a woman with mystical powers who can be scary and dangerous becomes an evil witch. This is a Western European definition of witch, but is the most likely origin of the translation. The most traditional telling of the story I am familiar with tells of how Sedna spurned the men of her village and married a dog spirit. The men of her village tried to kill Sedna by pushing her off a cliff into the ocean. She was holding onto the ledge, so they cut her fingers off and she fell into the ocean. She went on to rule an undersea kingdom bordering the afterlife. Meanwhile her fingers became the seals, fish, whales, and land animals the Yupik use to survive.

Because she has no fingers, the sins of the world collect in Sedna’s hair. Sins of the world is probably a European translation, for the sake of this paper the sins of the world represent transgressions by the Yupik causing disharmony with the environment or with the spirit world. When Sedna’s hair becomes too tangled, she becomes upset and withdraws the animals the Yupik need to survive. When this happens, a shaman, medicine man, or whoever drew the short straw is sent to placate Sedna. This brave soul brings gifts to Sedna, tells her how beautiful she is, and brushes out her hair. When Sedna is placated, she returns the animals.

In a fun coincidence, Alaska Natives in southern parts of Alaska which receive a lot of rain traditionally wore woven, wide-brimmed hats because of the rain. These hats resemble European pointy witch hats. The fact that Yupik were created by an evil sea witch and some Yupik traditionally wore pointy witch hats is something I find amusing. The thing is, if you say you have a witch story the more adjectives you place in front of witch story the more interesting of a story people expect. So if you say you have an evil sea witch story or a pointy witch hat story people expect a very interesting story. But if you say you have an evil sea witch pointy witch hat story that is the whole story.

I'm not really a fan of the jinx mechanics, but I will have another look at them if I have the time.

isnt there a way to sort by class?
also, very few clerics there right?

Cyndel Ghydel, formerly a Fighter 9/Rogue 2 now has a variant character sheet, where she is simply a Slayer 11.

Which do you prefer and why?

I prefer the Slayer, because it's just a mechanically better sheet.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Really? I thought they were pretty evenly matched.

The slayer, despite its higher base attack bonus, has a lower overasll attack bonus, CMB, and damage rolls; it also has lower Will saves and can't benefit from evasion (seeing as she needs her medium armor to keep up).

On the other hand, she does have better Reflex saves, slightly more HP, more skills, and a little more versatility in her (much more interesting) class abilities.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the Slayer still gets Studied Target which adds +3 to attack and damage; as an 'all day' ability (infinite uses) the Slayer can easily be assumed to be using it all the time, especially since it's now a swift action for her to use as of 7th level and she can use it on up to 3 targets at a time.

BAB 11 + 4 Str + 1 enhancement + 1 Weapon Focus = +17 (-2 TWF for +15). Add Studied Target and you have an attack routine of +20/+15/+10 or +18/+13/+8 and +18/+13/+8 with Greater TWF. Granted, yes, this relies on her using Studied Target, but it's not like she has limited uses like Smite or Rage or even Favored Enemy.

On top of all that, Studied Target helps with a good selection of skill checks too, so the Slayer can even use it out of combat.

As for Evasion, neither character gets it because both characters use the Rogue version of Evasion which restricts it to light or not armor; something which armor training doesn't help with. However, if either were to don mithril armor, they'd both regain usage of their Evasion ability.

Hah! I hadn't noticed that the fighter can't benefit from it. I might just move some of her gear around...

(I did remember the Studied Target shortly after posting, though I didn't realize she could use it against three targets.)

Yup, at each interval (5, 10, 15, 20) she can use it on another target. Although this seems to imply that you have to activate the ability for each target in succession. Still, you typically only need it for one target at a time anyway.

Keep up this great work, RD! Character generation is a favorite thing of mine. I always have like five or six prepared completely before any game we start. Granted, I like crazy flavorful concepts that are way off the beaten path, which ends up making some of them stink in the long run.

You do need more kobolds!

Neelon should probably change to light armour, because right now he's trying to use TWF with a 20 foot movement speed. I'm sure you also know that Dodge is mechanically much better than Two-Weapon Defence, because TWD is only active on a full attack.

If he has the swords out and he is able to make attacks of opportunity, then he is considered wielding them. No need to make a full attack.

Dodge may still be better though as it would apply even while he is unarmed. I'll have another look at the character.

I'm Jonesing for more builds Ravingdork! Have you taken a break, or are you looking for ideas? Any playtest builds?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I've been having trouble wrapping my head around some of the new playtest mechanics, so it may be a while before you see one of those.

I've been real busy with work lately and haven't had much time to put much to paper (and the things I am able to put to paper generally have to do with ongoing games).

I'll try to get a few ideas up soon.

Why adamantine chain mail when you can wear an elven chain and continue benefiting from evasion. Evasion is simply too good to let it go that way...

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Aeric Blackberry: Because she is more afraid of things with teeth and claws then the occasional blaster I guess. Originally, the character was wearing chain mail of invulnerability. When she was redesigned into a slayer, it was actually upgraded to adamantine chain mail, which offered more frequent protection.

NEW CHARACTER!

Heathcliff, the blood knight (12th-level human cavalier), a cold and calculating military leader.

Though not as powerful as some sword and board or one-hander builds probably could be, I think this version utilizes a number of cool class abilities that represent the concept very well, from him being able to bull rush effectively to parrying and countering to being able to sidestep otherwise certain attacks. He is also capable of holding a monster's attention while his soldiers flank for monumental damage. He also has the face skills to be a real leader among men.

What do you think?
