Lesser trial playtest PbP?

Mythic Adventures Playtest General Discussion

THIS IS NOT A RECRUITMENT THREAD

* I really like these rules.
* I am most concerned about the lesser trials, so I'd like to provide feedback on that.
* I know that the combat system etc is going to be tested pretty thoroughly, so not as worried about playtesting that
* I'm prepared to run a PbP, but I'd like to focus it on the value of the lesser trials.
* Given feedback closes early jan, and I'm getting married late dec, I see this whole thing is going to need to aim for a month-and-a-half (though if it's a good game, I guess I could keep it going after dec)

I'm interested in suggestions in how to best craft a PbP that actually showcases the lesser trials in order the get the best feedback.

I think not just running combats is important. Part of me thinks a sandbox might be the best way to do it, but that might be my favouritism towards showcases.

Start at a higher level, around 10, probably, with 2 or 3 mythic tiers already.

Interesting - can I ask the reasoning?

Andoran

I am kind of hoping they decide to leave defining the trials to the GM, rather than having a list of "do this and get this"

It seems ridiculous and metagame to have someone trying to do something to get a power up in the middle of a larger game.

Well, that's what the developers have requested. They're more interested in higher level play. Plus most people will probably play it at higher levels. Finally, they'll be more capable of pulling off the lesser trials, so t'll give you a better idea of how capable characters will actually behave.

@jackiscool thanks - good points.
@ciretose I tend to agree, but all I have is an opinion. I want some game logs to see how people playing a "realisitic" (not just pure combat) campaign actually behave.

So guessing 15 points, core.

Probably makes sense to do a published AP. Carrion Crown 6, maybe? That's high enough to allow for a fair bit of power without too much tuning.

Hmmm. Or maybe Ashes at Dawn, and upgrade the vamps to mythic vamps.
