I was just e-mailed about an online convention boon I won... The organizer says they must include a character's name/ID#/faction#/etc and chronicle number.

The problem is that I have no characters that can use the boon (Mounted Tradition). Filling out that information "uses" the boon, right?

If I gave the organizer information about an unmade character (like name of "Trade Boon" and #99) and put it as chronicle 1 , along with a copy of the original e-mail, would that allow me to trade it?

Not sure why an online boon would be any different from a regular convention boon and that information is not filled out at a regular convention.

Is the coordinator emailing the boon to you? If so that would be the only reason I can think of that they would require all that information to be filled out.

If you have to give him the information, just make the character number the next one in line for your number of characters and plan to make a character that can use it next.

If you are wanting to trade the boon; I would have issues as yes, that technically uses the boon and would prevent you from trading it for something else that you'd want.

Funny, I have both of those to give away. Trying to come up with the best way to help people with the goblin boon. Like a charity auction, raffle and/or some way to draw attendance.

Any thoughts?

I want to say raffle. The problem may be too many people would want in.

Or maybe first person to find you at a convention, while carrying the boon.

If it´s not a joke (what i believe it to be),

give it to the person that can show it has the most character deaths and racial boon character deaths in scenarios either GMed by you or written by you. :D

This makes me wonder just how far people would be willing to travel if they thought there was a chance of scoring a goblin...

Edit: Some sort of charity raffle sounds like a decent idea.

The coordinator said that was the agreement they made last year with Paizo for e-boons. I have some boons from other online Cons, but they didn't need that info (They just have my PFS # on it).

Unfortunately for me, Mounted Tradition also requires a race boon to go with it, which I don't have; all of them are older and I'm unlikely to get one. Only usable option for me on it is a Tengu with an axe beak - and I already have an unassigned character that has that from DM credits and a certain quest chain.

I am looking for opinions since I don't want to get it, trade it, then screw the person that wanted it.

I'm not up on the on-line gaming rules and regs .. that to be honest is more a question for the online VOs than the boon trading thread as you'll get a better, more accurate answer

Simply because that would mean you possessed two Goblin boons, one for Garble and one extra, and he knows that Goblin boons were extremely limited.

I know that I'd love to get a chance at a goblin boon, though I couldn't participate in anything that required me to go very far to try to get it.

Maybe you could do some sort of contest where people detail the character that they would build with the boon, and the concept you like most gets the boon.

My vote would be for a charity auction, to be honest. It would help raise money for a good cause (not that your beer money isn't a good cause...) and will build up excitement to see who gets it even among non-bidders (especially GMs for whoever gets it heh).

Just my 2 coppers.

Agreed. Wonder if it's possible to auction in exchange for community service... /tangent

Honestly, one of my favorite races to play are goblins, they're just zany and fun, no matter how you play them. Something about them is odd and unique, making them good adventurers.

Previously, I never considered playing a Dhampir before joining PFS. I had a few concepts that fell flat, so I settled with a build I wasn't sure of.

I'm very new to PFS but not to Pathfinder or RPGs in general.. and have a few friends that DO play PFS and may have a boon laying around they don't want.

Out of curiosity, what would someone want for a Dhampir, or Goblin boon that they were willing to trade or give up?

I suggest no-holds-barred flamethrower fight, winner take all. That would be in the spirit of Goblins, after all.

Btw how exactly does the trading work? Ie are people just scanning the boon in question and then sending it to the other person and marking their copy with a big black marker saying TRADED.?

Mike has said that scans are acceptable. Its not as if exchanging originals actually accomplishes anything if the intent is to cheat.

Could you provide a link to where it is said scans are a legal option for boon trading?

Sczarni 5/5 5/55/5 ***

Scans aren't legal. You have to mail them. Or trade originals in person.

Otherwise the boons themselves would all be photocopies. Having a signed signature is the only way to verify the boon as authentic.

Ummm... You can definitely send electronic copies.

Boons handed out at previous GenCons have actually been photocopies.

A lot of online games send out electronic chronicles.

All of the boons for the most recent PbP Games Day were sent out as electronic copies.

Also, Mike Brock has said the following:

Michael Brock wrote:

If you have a "standard" boon, then they can be scanned and emailed.

If you have a "special" boon (and they are all signed by me personally), with a raised seal and signed in metallic ink by me, then they have to be mailed via postal service, fedex, whatever. These are very few, including the goblin boons, auction boons, etc...

(I can't link the thread as it is on the VO boards, but Mike has said that it is fine to quote him from that thread onto the public boards.)

Tbf a good photocopy these days is pretty hard to tell from a print. It's as easy to forge one you mail as one you scan.

It does a lot to assuage the fear of being jilted too; because on the internet that feeling is real. Someone doing something legit for fun is the whole point of this boon thread, isn't it?

Well, what I have is the following:

Custom Order
Xenophobia
Student of Runes
Varisian Caravaner
Treasure Map
Expedition Manager
Mendevian Weapon Training

I'm not sure what I would be willing to give up for anything besides Extra Hours (need it for my Fangwood Keep guy so he can earn prestige on GM credit) but I'll look at what those do and see.

Edit: Lingering Resonance sounds pretty impractical, and I can't find Allied Spellcasting.

Have: Expedition Manager

Expedition Manager:
In addition to your more dangerous duties as a Pathfinder, ou also have undertaken an arcaeological excavation at a minor site. Your venture-captain expects you to fund the expedition yourself, but so longa s you report on your findings, you may keep any physical goods uncovered for yourself. When rolling your Day Job check at the end of a scenario, you may spend between 2 and 6 Prestige Points to pay for supplies, expenses, and personnel. The next time you roll a Day Job check, the expedition returns with research and relics depending on how many Prestige Points you spent.

You can acquire any single item of the listed price or less at no cost. An item acquired in this way is worth 0 gp and cannot be sold. In addition, your arcaeological findings may contain clues about historical events, arcane enigmas, or other mysteries. As a free action, you gain a bonus on a Knowledge (arcana, history, planes, or religion) check equal to the number of Prestige Points that you spent. When you use the skill bonus, cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet.

2 PP: The item acquired costs 1,000 gp or less
4 PP: The item acquired costs 2,000 gp or less
6 PP: The item acquired costs 3,500 gp or less
