Can you touch yourself?

so for spells and spell like abilities where you "touch a willing creature" to give them some sort of bonus, i'm assuming that a player can touch himself, but i just wanted to double check since it seems that it would be so easy to insert the two words of "yourself or" after "touch" and it would leave it completely unambiguous - which made me wonder if you can't effect yourself for those abilities/spells.

any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

You are a "willing creature", aren't you?

Worst possible thread name.

But the answer is yes, you can use touch spells on yourself. Just as the rules say you are your own ally, you are a willing target of any effect you cast yourself. The paladin's Lay on Hands ability actually specifies that it's a move action to use on another creature and a swift action to use on yourself.

You still need a free hand to use the ability though.

I'm always willing when it comes to touching myself.

Fixed.

OT: Also, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.

thanks. that's what i figured. just wanted to double check given the choice not to make it completely unambiguous.

Oh I don't want, anybody else, when I think about you I cast touch spells.

That would work too, yes. You can touch yourself anywhere.

This is the best thread ever!

I had to post in it before it gets closed.

Gaekub, I quite literally gut-laughed out loud when I read your post. Good show sir! (or maam).

You should be aware that touching yourself in certain municipalities is a crime so take keep in mind where you are touching yourself.

You can, but Iomedae cries when you do.

It's better to get someone else to touch you.

In terms of action economy, of course!

Just make sure they have your permission to touch you. No means No.

Silent Saturn, it is a standard action to use Lay on Hands on someone else.

Can.

Have.

Will again.

My Paladin at least feels guilty for doing it... you know, when teammates might need it more. Nothing more appropriate than a Paladin feeling conflicted about touching himself, wouldn't you say?

Now, if you were to be dominated... could you be made to touch yourself, unwillingly?

Silver Crusade

I think that you don't need a free hand to touch yourself. You are in constant contact with yourself by definition.

Why, oh why, doesn't the succubus in a grapple have a touch ability to use on herself?

I guess she could always use vampiric touch, but it might send the wrong signals... somehow.

I'll be in my bunk.

I was told this could cause the Ebon Eyes Spellblight. I think that is just a myth though.

I always knew that touching myself was magical in some way.

The real question here is: Can you touch yourself while grappling a succubus? *BOOM*

I use a light shield so I can touch myself, even in battle. Our cleric doesn't touch me very often... We bought her a toy to use tho, and all of us like that ;]

If you're at least 3rd level you can also have your familiar touch you. Because sometimes all you really need is a familiar touch.

Yes...unless I'm really really drunk, and then sometimes I miss.

So, what happens if you go to touch yourself but roll a nat 1?

I'm pretty sure you can.

The better question would be: why on earth would you WANT to?

What's the point of touching yourself if you're an elf and it isn't Pon Farr?

Oh that's Vulcans, sorry I always get those pointy eared folks mixed up.

But what if I am really drunk and I say yes thinking they had an 18 charisma, and when I wake up they have a 5 charisma.

Did I really give them permission? Or did that dwarven hussy take advantage of me.

In that case you were willing. Your poor life choices are your own fault.

Oh, wow. In Pathfinder, unconscious characters are automatically considered willing.

Liberty's Edge

Throughout the campaign, the cleric was always touching the rogue. He just touched himself for the first time last night. It was made worse by the fact that he had inhaled yellow mold and was doing a wonderful job of failing his saves.

Pokes head in....backs away slowly...

Grand Lodge

No one is asking the real questions here:
What kind of action is it to touch yourself?

Say I cast Bull's Strength and hold the charge for a few rounds. What sort of action would it be to, um, discharge it on myself?

If it's a standard action, does that mean Paladins are the best class for touching themselves (as a swift action!)

I'd say discharging a held touch spell to yourself is a free action.

Scarab Sages

Been wondering, if I use Beguiling Gift to hand off my familiar to an opponent, does it auto succeed with any touch spells I cast? If they are holding my caster, like a grapple, am I considered touching them...?
