UC Pre-Gens

If I want to play in a scenario that I don't have a character high enough level to play in I get to play a pregen. Of the pregens that I am aware of, there are 4 CRB: Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, and Wizard. Too easy. There are also 3 UC pregens: Gunslinger, Ninja, and Samurai. If I want to play one of the UC pregens do I need to carry a copy of UC with me.

Sorry if this was answered a year ago.

If you want to be sure they work, and are fully legal, yes.

Overall, however, I think the pregens include enough information that there should be no need for the UC presence.

I don't think you need UC, I hope you don't because we've been running things wrong otherwise.

It seems like it would kinda defeat the purpose of pregens. I find that generally we use pregens for new players who haven't had the chance to create a character yet play. To say to some one "No you can't play a Ninja/Samurai/Gunslinger because you don't own this here $50-60 book"(they're the prices around here) seems a bit counter productive in getting a new player to stay to play. We advise them that they will need to purchase UC if they want to continue playing the character or if they want to make a Ninja/Samurai/Gunslinger but we won't stop them from actually playing it.

As long as you have a copy of every version of the UC Pregens (Levels 1, 4 and 7) you will have all the relevant text.

A slight derail, I have always wondered why the advanced player iconic s were removed from the play list.

I believe they were only 15 point builds. Though in many occasions during their brief existance they out performed the regular Pre gens!

Seems to me that they could have been updated to 20 points and kept. :D

I would imagine that it is a question of best use of limited resources. Also having two versions of the same Pre gen floating around is more likely to lead to confusion than just banning it.

I am sure that the future will hold more and better pregens.

I believe there is the possibility of more PFS legal pregens coming soon due to the release of the NPC codex, including APG classes.

There are no APG classes in the NPC codex, it is core only.

I realize it only mentions the core classes, but "Multiple versions of each Pathfinder iconic character, perfect for pregenerated player characters" would make me think that the UM, UC, and APG iconics would be included as they are pathfinder iconic characters.

Not in the NPC codex...

Core classes only, so only the core class Iconics

I'm willing to believe Dragnmoon, because i'm pretty sure he's cuddling the book right now, and digesting all the information through osmosis.

IE: Subscribers have it already.

I have a question though, does it expand rules for hirelings at all?

Thanks, all.

With the "give us APG iconics pregens!" sentiment, I'd also like to see Seltyiel and the Core iconics that aren't already 1-4-7 pregens. I think it would be pretty cool to play as Lem or Harsk. Oh, well.

I don't have the book yet, but Paizo has said the same over and over again.
