Aw damn. Didn't realize how old this thread was. Well, you get an internet cookie.

Acrobatics. Melee bard needs all the help he can get moving around and doesn't have the feats to burn on dodge/mobility. Also was great last session as a lvl one, ran into room, hopped up on tipped over table edge, balanced, then attacked guy behind it. Rolled poor on balance, dm got a smile until I added my bonus to it. Has yet to be attacked by AoO or fall off anything.

I took Skill Focus (Diplomacy) and several other Diplomacy enhancers on my Heavens Oracle character intended to be the friendliest guy ever (I think I had a +14 or so at 1st level...which isn't maxed, but not too shabby either) that I made for a Jade Regent game that never quite materialized.

I think mine had a +13 starting out. Now sitting at 22 at 9th level.

Again, Diplomacy here on my Skull & Shackles Bard/Ranger who ended up as Captain, he also took it for Bluff so that he can convince people to join him one way or another but they damn well will join him! (The first mate has intimidate covered or I might have grabbed that as well!)

I've grabbed it a few times for Sense Motive with characters who use Snake Style as well.

Stealth - to get hellcats stealth and dampen presence....both I consider nearly mandatory for a sneak character.

Any skill for eldritch bloodline chain. Usually knowledge though for Arcane Bloodline.

Perception - because...its perception!

NOrmally I will only use it for Eldritch Heritage and then for either the Arcane or Orc bloodlines. Ive used it once for intimidate.

Mounted Combat for riders -- especially those who also intend to take the Indomitable Mount feat.

Note that when substituting a Mounted Combat +X roll for a saving throw (via Indomitable), it becomes possible for your ride to make its save even if you roll a "1" because you're actually making a skill-check.

Perception is a decent choice for everyone.
Sense Motive for Snake Style characters.
X for Arcane Heritage.
Perform for bards.

These are all good mechanical choices. Then there are the RP reasons. I have a slightly psychotic Gnome who has SF Profession (chef). Cooking is his life and the reason he adventures is to find interesting ingredients for his meals.
