Who would win in a fight between Darkseid v. Thanos?

Who would win in a fight between Darkseid v. Thanos and why? Please justify your answers. Based on looking at both characters abilities and past, I would have to go with Thanos on this one. I have my reasons, but I also want to see what others think.

Also, this is Thanos without the Infinity Gauntlet. That would be unfair.

They actually did fight once during the Amalgam crossover, but I can't remember who won.

I think the fight was called on account of the sky turning into blood.

Qadira

Seems more likely they'd go a few rounds before discovering it was pointless, find they had a lot in common, and band together to destroy their enemies once and for all.

Truly? Whoever the writer wanted to win.

I want to find out who would really win. Just looking at the numbers, Darkseid would win. His Omega Beams wipe out anything they hit from existance, or in the case of Batman send that person back in time. I never understood that. Thanos would be "dead", but since he pi$$ed off Death herself, he isn't allowed to die. He would come back.

Another way of looking at it is that Thanos could probably figure out a way to reverse the Omega Sanction, and have Darkseid wiped out of existance by his own hand. Thanos is the man, which is why he was in the Avenger's movie. For that reason alone, he wins.

No Lord High Papal in your "big bald guys from comics" imaginary fight?

That doubles up the Starlin contribution, though, so unless you can come up with another Kirby contender to throw in we'll have to disallow that entry.

They wouldn't be so base as to engage in a vulgar physical battle. They would match wits in a cosmic game of manipulation using lackeys, heroes, villains, and cosmic entities as pawns in thier struggle for galactic power.

Each move calculated, covered by feints, bluffs, and outright cheating that they are never truly able to completely conceal or predict from one another. As the game progresses, plans, countermoves, and a few surprises as they become more reckless in their efforts to defeat one another and win the cosmic prize they are striving for.

Finally, the board is overturned by the rebellion of the pawns. Neither gains the sought for prize as the playing pieces defy them. They shrug, complement each other on a well-played game and agree to meet again for a rematch.

I would say Darkseid. Im not an expert but isnt Darkseid stronger, has better army, technology? Whos the stronger one on one matchup vs the avengers? vs the hulk? I lean towards the marvel side but based on the animated movies i would go with Darkseid.

Actually I think the OP missed the point.

Thanos would win in Earth 616. He has Death on his side, and his enemies (Adam Warlock especially) wouldn't want Darkseid. And if you add in the Infinity Gauntlet, yes, Darkseid becomes Darksmear.

Darkseid would win in Earth-7642, since he has all his powers and allies, and 616-Thanos' gauntlet would not work there. Nor would Death be on his side.

So it really depends on where and why.

Lobo would kick both their asses.

But what if Darkseid has the Anti-Life Equation?

Every time he's actually gotten hold of it, things kind of went horribly wrong.

Maybe that's one thing the bad guys have in common? Thanos and Doom both have been called out on subconsciously sabotaging themselves, maybe Darkseid does too?
