Need help with cleric - especially gear

Advice

My game is limited to official pathfinder material, with the exception of my character's race which slipped in by mistake.
I am playing a LN half giant figher 1 / cleric 7. My stats (without gear) are:
Str 16
Dex 10
Con 14
Int 10
Wis 19
Cha 13

domains: travel, trickery

feats:
spell focus, necromancy
spell focus, enchantment
extra channels
exotic prof, bastard sword
leadership (elf bard cohort)

gear:
+1 keen bastard sword
headband +2 charisma
tunic of giant kind (permanent enlarge person)
efficient quiver
composite longbow
full plate
large shield
wand of cure light wounds
belt of incredible dexterity + 2
bloody skeleton (bullette)
bloody skeleton (cyclops)

I was saving up for a metamagic rod of quicken but I am starting to think I should buy up some smaller items. My feat path plan is to get versatile channel and then command undead. Our fighter is about to retire so I may have to take over primary tank position.

Any advice (especially gear) would be appreciated.

Who's your god?

I'm looking at favored weapons and domain options here.

The whole Norse pantheon.

Carry an extra holy symbol, in case your holy symbol is disarmed, sundered, stolen, etc.

If you have money to spend, a Cloak of Resistance is useful.

A few scrolls of useful but rarely used scrolls would be good when the situation arises. Things like Remove Paralysis, Remove Blindness, etc.

Hrm. Okay. Sooooo what's their favored weapon?

Clerics who revere the entire Asgardian pantheon may choose
any of the following domains: Air, Animal, Chaos, Charm, Community,
Death, Destruction, Good, Earth, Evil, Fire, Healing,
Knowledge, Law, Luck, Magic, Plant, Protection, Strength, Sun,
Travel, Trickery, War, Water, or Weather.

Clerics of the pantheon may be of any alignment. They must
choose one of the following as a favored weapon: composite longbow,
dagger, greatclub, greatsword, longsword, quarterstaff, short
sword, spear, unarmed strike, or warhammer.

I think my dm would be flexible on the weapons letting me choose bastard sword if I wanted to. It is the weapon of Odur, though my character doesn't really fit his alignment.

@demontroll - I'ver really been wondering if I should take scribe scroll for that very reason. Commanding undead seems like a whole lot more fun than scribbling on parchment though. Darn these difficult feat choices!!!

If I were to just buy some scrolls, what do you think would be the best to keep on hand?

Are you making this character from scratch?

Travel, trickery and necromancy/forbidden knowledge

Hmmm

Choose a martial weapon (you already get simple, maybe greatsword or longsword). Bastard sword is on average +1 damage ove rthe longsword and you can use the longsword 2 handed if need be.

Keep the martial weapons as a backup.

Spiked Gauntlet + longspear as your primary weapons, use the undead as a barrier to anyone getting near you. Depends on your opponent, but maybe a +1 Bane Longspear.

If you can use traits, get Birthmark as one of them (acts as Holy Symbol).

For the bard Cohort, enhancing the theme, can he be a dirge bard?

Why Spell Focus Enchantment? I would suggest Heavy Armour Proficiency (esp for tanking). I see you have full plate but no proficiency.

I also suggest: Drop the exotic proficieny, take command undead.

However, realize that will saves are high among the undead (A dirge bard could really help here...)

Rdit: Just realized as well, scribe scroll is useful (blood biography, cure [status], obscuring mist, silence, spiritual weapon)

@dark warrior, this is a character I have been playing for a while. I have one level of fighter which I took to get the heavy armor and all martial weapons. The bastard sword is nice because of its damage changes as it steps up in size. Note that half giant gets me powerful build stepping my weapon up to a size large. Then the enlarge person steps it up to huge. So as a base weapon it does 3d8 where as a longsword would be doing 3d6 so each hit does about 3 more points of damage. If I could go back to 2nd level I would have chosen power attack for my fighter feat, but I'm not totally disappointed in my choice.

Command undead is on my list, but notice I need to take the speed bump feat so that I can channel negative energy first.

1st: Ant Haul, Comprehend Languages, Remove Sickness

2nd: Remove Paralysis, Resist Energy, Lesser Restoration

3rd: Daylight, Invisibility Purge, Locate Object, Remove Blindness, Remove Curse, Remove Disease, Water Breathing

The idea is to have scrolls of spells that are situationally very useful, but you otherwise would not take on a daily basis. You might always take a Lesser Restoration spell, but sometimes an extra one can be handy.

Don't pay for these scrolls yourself, get the whole group to pitch in to pay for them as they are for helping the group. Likewise don't take scribe scroll, unless you are unable to find a scroll vendor.

If you and your god are non-good in alignment, have a wand of Infernal Healing instead of Cure Light Wounds as it heals more per charge (10 vs 1d8+1). Again, get the group to pay for the cure wand, as it gets cast on who needs it.

Yarp, I've even proposed that our group divy up cash as if there were one more person in the party than there really is. That extra share would be spent on curative magic devices, or anything that everyone in the party is likely to want access to.

But back to my primary question, what are the common must have items for a cleric? In everyone's opinion, what tends to be better for the cleric; stat boosters, spell slot increases (like a pearl of power), metamagic rods, or protection items (AC, saves, blur, etc)

Oops, forgot about that 1 level of fighter. Disregard some of what I said.

Giant size:
That is true... until someone hits you with a dispel magic...
yeah, 3D8 vs 3D6 is significant... and you get reach.

Well, if you're going to create/command undead:
Darkskull

Instead of a shield (nonmagical?), get a ring of shield and swing your bastard sword 2 handed...

Incense of Meditation

And I'm sure there's a bunch of Ioun Stones you can place in orbit around yourself.

Darkskull is really cool and just the sort of item I figured someone would know about, but I did not. I am really considering it, but the one drawback is that our CG mage summons a lot of celestial creatures and it might interfere. I have time to think about it as that is well out of my price range right now.

We played last night and I leveled up and got some good loot. So I am now wearing +1 plate and have at least 33,338 gold to spend when I can.

I am considering:
+1 animated sheild
headband of mental prowess (+2 wis and cha)
malleable symbol
rods of quicken, enlarge, and bouncing

I can't get them all, but I am thinking a lesser rod of extend and a rod of bouncing, and no quicken for a while. The extend should let me throw more buffs before combat meaning I won't miss quicken as much. It would be really sweet to pump out a free action cure on someone who might die though. On the other hand, I think I have only cast cure's in combat on two occassions.
