Eidolon Base Forms, so annoying...

Advice

I have a eidolon that's lv4 at the moment and at lv5 I want to change it. Right now I have a serpentine but I want it to be something like a dragon(not like these dragons we fight in Pathfinder but looks similar to one). I want it to stand on 2 legs and it's arms to be it's wings. I would use Biped form but it has claws as it's free evolution. I wanted bite so I could use Quad. form, but then it would have to walk on all fours, right? Would it be possible to use Quad., and still walk on two legs? I know I could just use 1 point to buy the bite evo but I already have max attacks with my idea. Any ideas?

Unless you're using the Evolutionist archetype, you can't change your Eidolon's base form when you level up. (And if you are using the Evolutionist archetype, you still can't because that feature doesn't come online until eighth level.)

But honestly, doesn't Serpentine fit the "dragon" image much better than Biped?

Er. Don't dragons (European/Tolkien-esque dragons) walk on four legs? Give 'em wings and a bite and we're good to go.

First, unless you have certain Summoner archetype the base form is fixed and cannot be changed by RAW (which is important for PFS if you play one). Of course if you don't play PFS you might ask your GM to allow for base form change. Personally I would probably allow it for a costly ritual.

There is nothing in the rules that forces biped eidolon to move on two legs or quadruped to move on all fours. The form determines ability scores, free evolutions and access to evolutions. There is nothing that prevents you from making a serpentine dragon - you just adds a pair of legs and winged flight to it. You'll have a two-legged, long and sinuous winged beast.

A.k.a. a Chinese dragon?

I've changed it before, when I started it was a aquatic form. And as for the dragon walking on two legs what I'm trying to get at is I watched my a kid's show when I was babysitting, How to Train Your Dragon(mostly not the best but there were dragons that walked on two legs, look up Deadly Nadder). The reason I'm not using serpentine still is that I don't like tail slap, I have multi attack but it's still bad(that's the reason I don't like the claws). Plus another reason I'm favoring quad. form is pounce. At lv6 I'm going to have 4 nat attacks(the max) so I will be able to use all of them.

I'm not real keen on how they did some of the stuff.

I like the Serpentine Base form, but I also value movement speed.

To increase my eidolon's base speed I have to pollute its pristine serpentine form with legs.

Just not what I wanted. I would have preferred that increased base speed were its own evolution independent of legs. Legs would still increase base speed I guess, but I'd like a cheaper move rate increaser since I have absolutely no interest in hooves or the like.

Mechanically I guess it makes no difference, and you can always say that the appearance of your eidolon has no legs.

I just think a long sinous snake with one pair of legs somewhere is a silly image though.

I don't like my eidolon's base speed, 20. I have 30 so I try not to leave it behind because I get shielded from enemies with it 10ft away. I get bonuses to ac and saving throws. Now with quad. I'll be trying to catch it. That's why I like biped though, so many decisions, like I said, kinda annoying...

Well, at level 5 you could always pump an extra point into flight to get you speed +20.

Well, have you tried different kinds of dragons? I mean, it is not solely a east/west distinction here. Take the wyvern. It only has two legs, and I'd imagine it would work well with the basic synthesist design for serpentine base form. Looking at the picture for it, I could imagine you could use arms for legs. The only real difference is that the tail would probably be more pronounced (since it will be your main form of land movement). There are a lot of different, but vaguely related creatures in folklore, and games like this tend to just include them at random as different creatures. Use the bestiary and find something you like that you can work with.

That's not a kid's show. How to Train Your Dragon RULED.

Whenever the summoner gains a level, the number in this pool increases and the summoner can spend these points to change the abilities of the eidolon. These choices are not set. The summoner can change them whenever he gains a level (and through the transmogrify spell).

You just need to get a transmogrify scroll and cross you fingers.

Also I would go with quadruped form and go for pounce. Yes you technically have four legs, but you can make it look like you have only 2 for aesthetic purposes, the two you have are just really powerful, as the rules also say the following.
