Heading to Mwangi

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Well my PCs are heading to the Mwangi expanse in my open sandbox game. This game is purely PC driven, with me throwing out hooks and leads based on what they do.

The PCs are:

Aasimar Inquisitor - Giving the command to Lead from his god
Tiefling Barbarian - Just along for the ride
Tiefling Sorcerer - Sage sending him to Mwangi help him understand his bloodline (Serpentine)

They are nearly lvl 2 on the slow chart and to get them into Mwangi I have a few ideas, but always looking for more.

Currently they're caravning into Magnimar where they've made some contacts previously.

Option A: if they hit the priest contact they made would be to added to a colonization push into the region, placing the Inquisitor PC in charge of operations, due to religious affiliations.

Option B: Merchant contact to be guards for his operations heading that direction.

Option C: is trying their luck as sailors, but with no experience at it may be hard to get berths on most ships.

I'm trying to not handcuff them, but I understand for low levels with little to no experience in the jungle it'll be a quick and painful death. Hopefully they go the colony route and I can ease them into the dangers of jungle life.

Any suggestions welcomed

Let's not forget the Aspis consortium has interests in the area, pays extremely well and as a faction is like an onion, the more layers you peel back the more you find and the stronger the stench!

Thanks Conundrum,

I forget about the other factions from time to time, I'll do my homework and figure out where they can fit in.

There was an old 3.5 module River into Darkness for level 4 you may able to scale. Basically heart of darkness the adventure good intro to the setting and deals with the Aspis Consortium. I know your going sandboxy but the module might give you some stuff to cook with.

I'll definitly take a look at it and see where I can drop some breadcrumbs for them to follow.

Thanks Conundrum, pulled out my faction guide, and now the dubious Merchant contact they've had minimal interaction with other than to know he'd like some information about where they come from is now a member of the Aspis Consortium.

nice :) love it when stuff falls together like that, used to happen in my forgotten realms games occasionally.

Also may get and adapt the Society scenario that was on the home page today sending the PCs to Riddleport first to "earn" their trip to Mwangi if they go that route.

Pathfinder's Heart of the Jungle book has some great stuff on adventuring in the jungle, meeting the Mwangi natives, and exploring some example ruins.

They could always hire a guide, or have the sage the tiefling sorcerer knows hook them up with one. This also gives you the option of complicating the situation if/when the guide gets killed/sick/kidnapped etc.

@Odraude - I've been flipping through Heart of the Jungle, and that's where the colony idea came from, I'll be drawing huge inspiration from it and the info provided in the Serpent's Skull AP extra stuffs, though I may draw from the adventure path itself for some motivation too.

@Dreaming Psion - could work.
