Little People (Race)

Homebrew and House Rules

Boring as all get-out, but someone had to do it.

Midget
Humanoid (human)

Midgets are humans who are also small-sized (less than 3'9").

Midget Racial Traits

+2 to One Ability Score: Midget characters get a +2 bonus to one ability score of their choice at creation to represent their varied nature.

Small: Midgets are Small creatures and gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty to their Combat Maneuver Bonus and Combat Maneuver Defense, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.

Slow Speed: Midgets have a base speed of 20 feet.

Bonus Feat: Midgets select one extra feat at 1st level.

Skilled: Midgets gain an additional skill rank at first level and one additional rank whenever they gain a level.

Languages: Midgets begin play speaking Common. Midgets with high Intelligence scores can choose any languages they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic).

Best race ever.

Forgot about this minor bit: 8 RP

Good, now do the Widget, from that episode of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

This is bigoted because it denies the existence of 3'10" midgets, I demand you have a random height roll that involves rolling a minimum of twenty-three dice. If you do not do this then you are literally advocating eugenics.

Is there a reason small humans are stronger than medium humans?

When your face is about equal to most folks groins or bellies, you gotta compensate in some way.

You might not be aware of this, but 'midget' is a derogatory term. To use the Golarion analogy, it would be like calling a Halfling a 'slip'.

I realize 'dwarf' is already taken in the context of a fantasy game, so you may want to stick with 'little person'. I've edited the thread title.

I removed a post. That is the kind of thing we don't need here.

Would 'pygmy' work any better? I know it's also fairly charged, but it also was used in ancient Greek mythology too... 'Little People' is usually what fey tend to be called.

"Vertically-challenged human"

"Small-sized human" is the term I used and felt it was pretty accurate. I still fail to understand why they are proportionally physically stronger than medium sized humans and also get a +2 bonus to an ability score of their choice. Seems to me that they should get a strength penalty as is customary for smaller creatures (such as gnomes, halflings, goblins, and so forth). Consistency is kind of important to me (I'm a bit of a simulationist).

They should get a penalty to str

Or... you could call them Nelwyn.

Actually, Midget is the Technical term for any Humanoid under 4 feet...

Dwarf is the term for any humanoid between 4'1" and 4'7".

Strange, No?

Regardless of technical terms I want to play a character like this. I've been trying to figure a way to do it too.

I want to play one as well.

Am I the only one that tilts his head and goes 'They're still human. Not an entirely new race' ??

To imply other wise is pretty insulting. It's like saying "White people are a different race from Asians or Hispanics" ect.

We are talking about a fantasy game, no need to get insulted, PJ.

I think this is similar to wood elves vs high elves vs drow etc. They are still human but should have different statistics
