flurries in my area of WNC, though points north and west (both with higher elevations) have been seeing snow most of the day. I've heard everything from a dusting to 10 inches for my area (I am expecting probably about an inch or so ... but I could be wrong).

Everyone in points N/NE/NW take care.

Sczarni

CT update.

Heavy wind.

Limbs down.

About 10-15% lost power so far.

No major incidents yet.

Eta major hit is somewhere around midnight.

Wonders what the dragon is going to do with a bunch of lint and a few dozen pennies...

io9's Upstream Servers are down. I guess they shut them down for the storm.

You know times are tough when a dragon's gotta hoard pennies ...

I'm happy as long as they don't replace the second n with an s between the i and the e.

According to all the weather reports I'm seeing, the center of circulation is currently......

The heartbeat-challenged know no fear. ;)

I wouldn't be overly concerned. I live right outside Baltimore and it's really just been rainy and windy all day - nothing too impressive.

Wind chill drops temps by 20 degrees Farenheit - feels like 37 outside, air temp says 57. Yummehs. ^____^

The fun part will be seeing the Potomac River flooding come the end of the week.

We're more or less okay in my part of Brooklyn. A tree lost a few branches that are now in the street, but we're good.

Saw that a building's face was ripped off in NYC somewhere. New England's getting hit worse than we are from the current news. We'll see more detail once morning rolls around.

That's good to hear.

HOLY SHIT!!!!

Silver Crusade

Cripes, I hadn't even thought of all that glass combined with all that wind.

We hear they just lost a Powerstation (It exploded) so two million folks are without Electricity - 49th Street to Battery Park is flooded - forcing the evacuation of the NY Fire department by boat. and the Storm is rolling north - In Toronto a Man was killed when a Sign fell on him.

updated: Transformer at CON-ED Power Station goes Boom!

I know they shut power down in a good chunk of the city. I haven't seen anything confirmed on the powerstation explosion. Transformers have blown, certainly, but I don't know of anything bigger.

The subways are flooded and so is a good part of the city. I believe this is on the lower East Side.
Storm surge over 14' at the Battery. This is ugly.

Meanwhile, up in the central part of CT, we've had rain and some wind, but nothing too serious. A few branches down. Seems to be dropping off now. The coastline and both the East and West parts of the state seem to have been hit pretty bad, judging by the power outages, but the river valley is in better shape.

In Toronto we had a woman killed by a blowing sign. A woman I know had the wind blow her front window right out of her house about an hour ago.

I'm here in northern Delaware. Right now we are getting a break with light rain and wind. In the next few hours the storm is going to hit with high winds. Got a generator ready for the fridge at least, if we lose power.

Lots of wind here on Long Island, but not a lot of rain. Two trees came down in front of my apartment, one within 6 inches of somebody's parked car. (I was smart enough to not leave my car next to a tree.)

LIPA estimates 650k customers without power on Long Island, but mine is still on (knocks on wood).

Heard a ConEd(Power plant?)in Brooklyn had an explosion. Confirm?

Sczarni

CT shoreline is wicked flooded.

Bridgeport, Milford, and up have lots of water damage.

Plenty of folks without power, no major catastrophes ad of now.

We'll see how high tide treats the shore. Eta is 0000.

stay safe, stay dry, and stay warm fellow northeasters. I think the worst has passed my neck of the woods.

Sczarni

Ditto.

Shoreline took a pounding.

One death that I know about (tree fell on someone), and a whole lotta folks in the dark.

Could have been worse.

I hope all my friends over at the US are okay.

I shall never doubt Turin again!

My neighborhood looks fine, but I didn't have to go to work!

Woo-hoo!

Spoiler:
Condolences to all of those up shiznit's creek.

Well, I thought Sandy was lame so she kicked BG&E in the face. Oh well. I'm at Bob Evans instead of work. Could be worse.

Hope all are safe and well. Hanging in here in B'more. Haven't lost power (*knock wood*). Went outside once yesterday and then remembered being cold and wet are not things I enjoy. The wind was pretty scary too.

Aw, DQ, you suck! I live in Jessup and my power is out. Only through the good graces of Bob Evans in Laurel do I have internet.

Scarab Sages

Two days in a row off from work! WOOHOO!!!

Central Massachusetts: We got lots of wind and rain. A branch fell in the back yard and my canoe blew over into the middle of our (tiny) backyard. I'll have to put it back this afternoon. We never lost power. I'm back to work (late start) today.

A bunch of folks are staying home since they lost power.

We're good so far here in Pittsburgh. No power outages, just lots of rain, the threat of snow, some trees down and Halloween moved to Saturday.

I'm obsessively checking this thread for how all the affected Paizo folks are doing.

I'm also sightly woried about my brother and his family. He's a Captitol police officer. Last we heard was him calling my folks in Somerset Pa last night on his way home from work and saying he hoped his pump in the basement was working.

If I had a storm like that incoming, I'd totally get the gaming group together.

I add my well wishes to all the Paizonians effected by this storm. If you are in the effected areas, make sure you make a concerted effort to stay hydrated, especially while you are cleaning up/working outside.

And if you think of it, please extend your thanks to the police, national guard, firemen, postal workers, and others who will be slogging through this mess while order is slowly restored. You'd be surprised how a simple verbal "thank you" (or offer of cold bottled water) can brighten someone's mood while being stuck out in the mess. As someone who rode out Hurricane Charley, and delivered mail and helped clean up afterward, I don't envy the long slow clean-up process ahead of all effected. And your future insurance rates are gonna suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. :(

Scarab Sages

Things look good in my area (Wheaton area, just outside DC). Power and internet never went down and I have a second day off from work.

Well of course you're okay. You're a time mistress!!!

best wishes to everyone in the area

good to see that a lot of You are save and ok

Sczarni

Good to hear folks are ok.

CT really stepped up their preparedness this time.

Now to start getting the power back on.

My brother and his family live in Pasadena, Md.

Sovereign Court

Had wind, some rain and a little snow where I'm at (not enough to cause any kind of headache in my area), though west and north of Asheville got more snow. No loss of power.

all in all I think we just got Igor rather than Frankenstorm ... thankfully ... still have a winter storm warning in effect until tomorrow morning, but I don't think it'll come to anything.

Good luck to those who are still dealing with it. Keep warm, keep dry and keep safe.

Power still on for me, even though over a million other Long Island residents are without.

A few more trees are down outside my apartment, but that's about it.

I think I am fortunate to live in the un-affluent part of Long Island. (Generally speaking, the coastal areas are costly, while the interior is low-rent.) The island's interior was the place to be.

Grand Lodge

Good Wishes from Brazil to the folks on Northern West Coast.
