Yeah, we'll have enough death magic since there's 3 sort of necromancer-types in the group.

I've asked Jeremy (AKA the guy that's running the evil campaign) to run the ogre that's been mentioned in the game.

Hmmm.

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

Don't take my comment about the death magic overlap as a suggestion that people switch their characters around. Heck, nearly all of us chose SK (I know Russ was close to going that way, and I wouldn't be hard to convince) because it is an incredibly sexy class, and I love the idea of people playing what interests them.

All that changes is the tactics and having two casting tanks that can heal themselves is never a bad thing!

Fredrik wrote:

Worry not, Jeremy will be running an ogre shaman, so you hasted/buffed front liners will have slowed mobs to fight and healing for your honey boo boos.

Then again...it's an evil campaign so we might all be screwed : )

Lol Maybe.... Or perhaps I might be using party members as my clubs

Iksar Shadow Knight

All the more reason to play a character that can fend for himself. :p Now I just have to try and get metaphorically inside the head of a literal reptile.

Throwing the goodly campaign in park for a bit to let:

  • everyone recover from their holiday gorging.
  • the Torture Chamber game synopsis get up to date.
  • the Torture Chamber cast of characters get up to date.
  • the Diablerie group to organize their character concepts.
  • everyone finish their characters.
  • everyone get their characters checked over for accuracy.
  • everyone link their MythWeavers URL into their race slot.
  • me steal some time to get the Diablerie group going.
  • the party decide upon their next move, feel free to post as much as you wish in-character, I just will not be moving things forward until we catch up.

Thanks, I need a few days to get Revery ready, and to complete Piter de Colmar.

Here he is so far. Such a nice looking young man...

(still a WIP)

Kwen (Half Elf Rogue)

I'm not Mike, but I've checked and re-checked it; and it looks to me like he's only spent 25 ability points, which leaves 2 left to spend.

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

Seek out ideas on how to insert Kwen (half-elf rogue) into the group.

I have a few, but mine tend to be dark and involve much in the way of players screaming and bleeding, so I figured I'd seek out less brutal ideas.

Fixed and no you can't have them

Barbarian Shaman (Luminary Gwendalyn Shaughnessy the Giant Slayer)

I'm wiped out tonight -- fell asleep early and I'm headed right back to bed -- but I have Thursday off, and I foresee some writing. :)

i completely passed out after I got out of work today, will work on finishing up Cakkarak and a post for the Torture Chamber Game. Man, I'm glad the holidays are over with.

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

Q: So, the 25gp for a 1st level spell is a non-magical scroll? Or is it a magical scroll?

By the way, Revery is finally done, I think!

Barbarian Shaman (Luminary Gwendalyn Shaughnessy the Giant Slayer)

AFAIK it's magical, and you could just cast the spell from it, instead of adding it to your spellbook.

Also, I believe that we should try taking 10 next time. Especially you -- I'll still have to roll for the 2nd-level spells, even at max ranks for 3rd. :p

Spoiler:
They've also expressed a preference for the character sheet to be linked under your name. Just hit reply to get the code, and then copy the following (without the /spoiler tag) into the Race field in your profile: Erudite Enchanter - in somnis veritas

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

I didn't know we could take ten on it. From the description, it looked like we have to roll...

Barbarian Shaman (Luminary Gwendalyn Shaughnessy the Giant Slayer)

Well, that's why I said "try" taking 10. I've learned to let the GM say no, instead of saying no to myself. ;) And it doesn't actually *say* we have to roll...

Piter de Colmar (Human Shadow Knight) The hour has arrived to abandon theories and go directly to what is practical.

Fredrik, how do you link to a specific post?

Revery wrote:
Q: So, the 25gp for a 1st level spell is a non-magical scroll? Or is it a magical scroll?

It is a single-use magical scroll that you can use to cast a spell without need for material or mana components, though you still need to read (verbal) and do the hand gestures (somatic). Before using it to cast a spell you must decipher the writing (Spellcraft DC 20 + spell level). This should be done beforehand, since if you cannot read the spell, or even know if it is castable by your class.

Afterwards you activate the spell:
- If you are of sufficient level to cast the spell there is no check. You simply cast the deciphered spell from the scroll.
- If you are not of sufficient level then you must do a caster level check (DC = scroll's caster level +1). Failure leads to DC 5 WIS checks or the scroll might blow up quite literally in your face.

***Important*** As long as the spell is on your class list the spell level does not factor in (as long as you can decipher/activate it). So this means that a level 1 Shadowknight or Beastlord can cast spells from a scroll.

Translation/deciphering of scrolls happens automatically in the case of spells purchased from a vendor (assistance with the translation is included in the price). If you have failed at deciphering a spell then worry not, you didn't (even though it was fun to singe the erudite's eyebrow off).

Gwendalyn wrote:
Also, I believe that we should try taking 10 next time.

You may take 10 on the Spellcraft roll to decipher a spell, as long as you do it in a calm place with tonnes of time, but not take 20 since it carries a consequence for failing it.

Yes, please forget about equipment. Same start as before, with a twist.

Normally I am insanely anal about people posting beyond the edge of the unknown.

Here I have given you all leave to shape this scene and create/manipulate the NPCs as you see fit. That includes Nogglegrop (sheet LINK for opposed rolls), so paint your scene. If you're doing skill checks (pick locks, listen, move silently) then include them as well. As you are stalking your prey, the friends of the prey might be stalking thee though :)

Speaking to the list above:
- Character concepts are done.
- I imagine that everyone has recovered from their holiday gorging.
- Adding in Kwen changes the dynamic in terms of our next move, so I expect to answer that question on the fly after we get going.

Update:
- Loki and Nogglegrop are ready for a fine-toothed combing from Mike.
- Diablerie is locked and loaded for when we're ready to go.
- Loki has posted to the Diablerie gameplay thread and has his MythWeavers link in his race slot.
- I have recovered from my holiday gorging.

Revery (Erudite Enchanter) in somnis veritas // Kspress (Iksar Monk) Your pain is the breaking of your shell.

Okay,

- Holiday gorging over (though I'm still on holidays, and suddenly we have people coming over tonight. And tomorrow. And Sunday.)
- Revery is done.
- Piter is mostly done. If there's no equipment, I guess he's ready for review.
- URLs linked!

Still need to post for Revery's revelry.
Still need to check over Loki and Nogs.

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

Hold off on checking the evil character sheets for a day cause I am about to blow your minds...

- Ogres are a powerful race, which walk around with a 20% experience penalty.
- Iksar are crazy impressive as well, with a 15% experience penalty.

To balance things out I am awarding attribute bonuses to the "lesser" of the classes. These points can be allocated anywhere you wish and bring any stat up to an 18 (1 point brings up a stat by 1 point). More impressively these points can be used to counter negatives, so a class that has a -2 to their attribute can still see an 18).

I ask that everyone apply their points to their attributes as they stand now, rather than switching things around to optimize the extra points. Anyone that considers changing their race/class at this point dies in char gen until they reincarnate back into what they decided before :)

Attribute Award:
- Kur'plugh: +0 to attribute - seriously you're powerful enough as it is
- Zaruksis: +5 to attribute(s) - fast recovery, AC bonus, et cetera, et cetra and now this...sheesh
- Cakkarak: +5 to attribute(s) - like you emo lizards need more points, for serious
- Loki: +20 to attribute(s) - tougher, but still enters combat in a grad dress
- Piter: +20 to attribute(s) - you might be hard now, but you're still a sssofftssskinsss

All will now progress at the same experience rate through the levels.

+20 more points to attributes?????

As in, add +2 STR, +2 INT, +2 CHA, +6 DEX, +6 CON, +2 WIS ???

Yes : )

It looks insane until one compares it to an innate AC bonus, infravision, massive stat bonuses, fast recovery, resistances, and the slew of crazy powerful bonuses the powerful classes get.

You are the elite as a human, which brings you perhaps toe-to-toe with an average ogre.

for listen:

1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14

for Hide (in crowd)

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

for spot:

1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6

and for later that night:

Hide: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
for sneak: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
for open lock: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22

Oh, neat, thanks :)

Test

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

If we are done for Monday morning here is an extra +2 to the attribute of each member of the group.

Using the order from the Anti-Hero Roster on the Campaign Info Tab:

Don't Open Before X-Mas:
Zaruksis: 1d6 ⇒ 5 (Wisdom)
Loki: 1d6 ⇒ 6 (Charisma)
Piter: 1d6 ⇒ 2 (Dexterity)
Cakkarak: 1d6 ⇒ 6 (Charisma)
Kur'plugh: 1d6 ⇒ 4 (Intelligence)

All hands on deck, you all have access to the Google Document, and can all help with the write-up, cast of characters, checking over sheets for errors, et cetera...

We're all in this together, either we're all getting the bonus, or none do :)

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

I was asked privately whether I would consider this as an option for the goodly campaign, rather than having given more training points.

How many of you would be interested in the +5 attribute points instead of the extra training points?

Chime in, and if enough are interested we'll suck out those training points, and throw in attribute points instead.

___

Update:

  • the Torture Chamber game synopsis get up to date.
  • the Torture Chamber cast of characters get up to date.
  • everyone get their characters checked over for accuracy.
  • everyone link their MythWeavers URL into their race slot.

The biggest hope out of this will be that the cast of characters and game synopsis are up-to-date BTW. These are tools that help me out, and the longer they wait, the harder/more daunting they will be to undertake.

- Loki is done with his new points added.
- Nogglegrop is updated imagining that everyone will take +5 attribute points over the training points.

I was actually referring to the Spellcraft roll to learn a deciphered or store-bought spell, for adding to a spellbook. I would imagine that the answer is the same, since there's a consequence for failure (having to wait to try again).

Well, I used the training points to gain an attribute, so I would go for more attributes. I think in the end I had a natural 17 Int, +6 for race, and +1 for training, then got +2 bonus from the GM; so replacing that with the same INT 17, +6 for race, +1 for the new bonus, and +2 for the old bonus I should end up with the same INT, plus 4 more points elsewhere.

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

The first Diablerie In-Game post is out. Let's get everything else squared away so we can get playing.

Here's your chance to visualize your character in that scene (very similar to the goodly opening, but if you look closer you will notice a number of differences) and start working on your first post.

Feel free to post your first post whenever it suits your fancy. I will be doing follow-up posts once we are back in gear.

p.s. The evil campaign is likely looking like the new shiny penny, which is dark and alluring, especially since the attempt was made to balance everyone against the most powerful race in the game, not to mention that evil will likely not take a year off (read: will likely be a higher level in a year's time...though maybe not), but there is one massive difference: evil will not be set on the epic quest, at least by me. So you might be behind the 8-ball for a bit, but once you wield those weapons all bets are off.

Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress

Gave a bit of movement for you all to play with in The Torture Chamber (the sound of tumbleweeds was deafening in there).

Currently working on Loki's introduction post.

I needed a break from my job application, so I think that my character sheet is done. Tell me now if you want more for the fluff, and I'll get it done by Monday.

Fluff-wise it looks fine. I will leave it to Mike to fine-toothed comb him into oblivion though. That sort of scrutiny is not my forte.

p.s. Speaking of more fluff, how goes the game synopsis?

Barbarian Shaman (Luminary Gwendalyn Shaughnessy the Giant Slayer)

I really need to work more on my job application. If someone else could take over the synopsis, or if we could treat it as a group effort, that would be great.

Also, sorry about the in-game insult. It was inappropriate. I don't normally act like that, and it won't happen again.

Baddies sheet review:

Zaruksis looks good, just the CC skills ought to contain decimals, I.e. 1.0. This is the convention we agreed to with the other group. It makes no difference to the numbers, though.

Loki has equipment?

Cakkarak: Still in progress - lots of stuff to update.

Kur'Plugh: Alignment, deity?
- needs a pic
- might want to enter unarmed strike stats
- spell save DCs?
- list proficiencies
- list training points
- do you not get 4 spells at the start?
- add a little background/history if the GM would like it...

Piter is perfect, of course.
