The gnolls have posted their actions, with the throws, as the end of round 2?
How far away are they now?
Is it the start of round 3?
Xenh |
As an aside: you can normally take 20 on search checks, but not for traps, since failing that search carries a penalty for failure in the form of a triggered trap.
Evil JB |
At the two that threw it was the end of round one, massive penalties for the Gnolls at 60 ft away, end of round two they will be within melee range of the party. This two that threw the javelins were dumb enough to waste some of their ranged weapons, since they only say Piter as a target for standing up. The two were in the lead, now they are lagging behind, at round 1 these two gnolls were 70 ft away at the end of round 2 three gnolls will be in melee striking range (double move) where as the two that three the javelins will be arriving until the end of Round 3
Evil JB |
To Tentacled One: For Cakkarak you have a + 3 to your Strength, instead of the 16 you normally have, for the next 40 minutes, you should have a 19 STR. Unless your Strength was a 13 before hand. I don't want to rob you of your to hit and damage, on the gnolls, also you are flanking with Kur'Plugh:
Kur'Plugh says a few words then the Gnoll on Cakkarak bursts into flames, Kur'Plugh also takes a swing on the same Gnoll that Cakkarak hit. Cakkarak is now flanking with Kur'Plugh,
Cakkarak: Strengthen + 3 bonus to STR for 40 Min
Piter de Colmar |
EJB, did my Harm Touch hit? I need to know so I can do it again, if it didn't.
Xenh |
I have to admit that this is the funniest thing I have seen in awhile...
Player: "Okay we beat Swenj so now we loot"
DM: <There are other more pressing things>
Player: "Yeah got that, but we're looting right?"
DM: <There are other more pressing things>
Player: "Hmm but I can probably just grab a few things..."
DM: <There are other more pressing things>
(repeat x half the posts of the last week lol)
It apparently touches players in the no no place when one breaks the social convention/contract of D&D where you fight then loot your foes in every scenario.

What game was that in?
Xenh |
What game was that in?
Impossible to know : )
If only there were hints!
Piter de Colmar |
I was a bit surprised to see Cakkarak has only 30 hp, max. You didn't level him!? He should be 4th.
Piter de Colmar |
Ah, I assumed this was enough: "After a few hours of rest everyone is at full mana and HP, everyone make spot and listen checks against DC 21."
EJB?
Xenh |
Not that I am jumping up and down to point this out, but the gnoll had a potential crit on Loki:
"Move action to get into range of the poor necromancer
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
damage 2d4 + 8 ⇒ (1, 2) + 8 = 11"
<crosses fingers and hopes the fear spell works>
*fends off character gen with a spork of proccing more sporks*
Evil JB |
Yes Everyone should be level 4 and rested enough to gain the effects of being level 4.
For the crit, every now and then, I will not roll to confirm a crit, either I missed the deadline, or I was in a hurry. Think of it as the DM wanting your pain to linger on, rather then letting you get slaughtered too quickly :)

I apologize for my spotty posting, sometimes a lot, sometimes nothing. I'm flying back home across the country on Saturday, and should hopefully be more consistent after that.
But hey, I'm an uncle! My sister's baby is healthy, calm, and strong. Can't hope for much better than that. :)
Congrats uncle Gwendalyn!
Gwendalyn |
You wouldn't believe how long that short post took me. I'm going back to bed.
Revery |
I had already rolled for duration of Revery's Fear spell (in the post with the spell), as I had done before.
Xenh |

Oh, I did not see that. Thanks for rolling it.
Know that this is always an unknown duration to the players.
Feel free to roll for invisibility as well.
Loki My'thrandr |
We seem to have jumped from the sight of the last battle to mid-ritual. How much time has passed?
What did Loki find on the gnoll bodies?
Evil JB |
LOKI: you will find a masterwork great sword
two rusty long sword -1 to hit
cracked large wooden shield -1 to ac
3 sets of rusty chainmail armor -1 to AC,
4 gems worth 300 GP each
10 days of questionable meat for trail rations
4 water skins (full)
2 gems worth 100 gp each
1 Water skin filled with whiskey (A.Tolerance DC 18)
12 javelins
A note written in goblin, seeming to detail a romantic liaison between two gnolls.
A map of where the cave that you just left, it seems to be a hunting map of some kind of the surrounding area.

I'll work out the division of the proceeds from selling Zaruksis's stuff (minus claimed items) later today.
Piter de Colmar |
Piter is clanged!
Gwendalyn |
I'm assuming that the outpost doesn't give peridots as change, so I only split the 19 that Zaru had. However, I'm sure that they could do more of the smaller denominations, if you'd rather break some plat. (I'm also assuming that we ate his trail rations, and threw away the sling made out of a sentient goblin's skin.)
157.5 gp - longsword (masterwork)
4 gp - light flail
125 gp - chain shirt (masterwork)
82.5 gp - buckler (masterwork)
4 gp - winter clothing
5 gp - tent
0.25 gp - blanket
0.5 gp - belt pouch
0.5 gp - flint & steel
6 gp - bull's-eye lantern
5 gp - 50' silk rope
consumed - 2 days trail rations
0.01 gp - 2 torches
0.01 gp - whetstone
worthless/obscene - goblinskin sling
total: 552.77 gp
26 pp, 21 gp, 21 sp, 21 cp = 283.31 gp
19 peridots (worth 100 gp each) = 1900 gp
total = 2736 gp + 8 cp
/5 = 547.2 gp each (and 2 cp each for everyone but Gwendalyn)
Gwendalyn:
547.20 gp
- 162.5 gp spiked chain
- 0.5 gp belt pouch
= 384.2 gp
= 3 peridots, 8 pp, 4 gp, 2 sp
Kwen:
547.22 gp
- 125 gp chain shirt (masterwork)
= 422.22 gp
= 4 peridots, 2 pp, 2 gp, 2 sp, 2 cp
Nogglegrop:
547.22 gp
= 4 peridots, 14 pp, 7 gp, 2 sp, 2 cp
Revery:
547.22 gp
= 4 peridots, 14 pp, 7 gp, 2 sp, 2 cp
Sajeek:
547.22 gp
- 6 gp bull's-eye lantern
= 541.22 gp
= 4 peridots, 14 pp, 1 gp, 2 sp, 2 cp

@Xenh: What recipes does Gwendalyn know for Alchemy and Tailoring? Or did you toss out that part of it? I forget.
Edit: Never mind, found the post.
Revery |
Thanks for all the division of spoils!

Ding Loki & Nogglegrop~

Danke for doing the work of splitting it.

Quick Tradeskill Play:
- Each attempt costs half the market cost.- May increase a tradeskill's ranks up to level +10
- May not take 10 or 20 on a tradeskill roll
- If you have the ranks in a tradeskill, then you know the recipes for it
- A failed attempt losses all components
Gwendalyn |
I think that Gwendalyn is done for dinging. I couldn't pick a feat, so I guess I'll just save the training points for now.
Sold:
4 gp - heavy pick
Bought:
2 gp - crowbar
1 gp - trail rations (2 days)
15 gp - compass
250 gp - materials for failed crafting attempt (raw silk armor)

I see the cost for the failed attempt, but not the deduction of 250gp for the successful attempt.
Revery |
And Revery too!
Revery |
Where is Justis now, or where is she going? Where is her home?
Gwendalyn |
I see the cost for the failed attempt, but not the deduction of 250gp for the successful attempt.
I didn't realize it would take so long to make, and assumed that she'd be able to sell to the store at the guard station if Revery decided he didn't want it.
I find it funnny/sad that I spent enough skill points to only fail on a 1, and then rolled so low and so high that it didn't make a difference. I don't think I really have enough skill points per level (or enough money) to keep up two trade skills. Once I make a bearskin potion bag, that's it for the tailoring.
Xenh |

Justis is a Feir'dal (wood elf) and they live in the lofty treetop city of Kelethin on the continent of Faydwer.
You know enough to know how to find her in that city, though it will be months and months before she returns to that place. She and her mother were among those that went West on that first caravan.
I didn't realize it would take so long to make, and assumed that she'd be able to sell to the store at the guard station if Revery decided he didn't want it.
Page 201 of the Game Master's Guide has the "Production Time per DC" chart, which breaks down how long it takes to make an item via each of the tradeskills.
Tinkering - 1 day
Alchemy - Hours
Tailoring - 30 minutes for basic and half days for other goods like armour
Blacksmithing Armour - Days...eeek!
I don't think I really have enough skill points per level (or enough money) to keep up two trade skills. Once I make a bearskin potion bag, that's it for the tailoring.
I have always been of the mindset that the person requesting the item should pay for it, and assume the risk of a failure, as they gain the benefit from the more likely success. Unless the dice hate them, they are likely to just end up with (at worst) something for cheaper or market value.
Up to you though, as Loki just failed on a spellcraft roll for something he could only fail on a 1, those 5% of the time only pop up every once in awhile.
Gwendalyn |
Since Sajeek had a bull's-eye lantern, does that mean that now it shines in a longer cone? (I'd guess something like 75' long and 25' wide at the end.) Or did he need to trade for a hooded lantern?
Bought:
250 gp - more crafting materials
Sold:
500 gp (4 peridots and 10 pp) - raw silk armor
3 gp - caravan guarding services
Final: 1188.16 gp

The lantern illuminates a 40' diameter area whether bull's-eye or hooded. There's no advantage to using one lantern over the other, since it's a magical device at the end of it.
Final: 1188.16 gp
How much have you spent on spells in total to this point in the game?
Xenh |
Mike,
Buy Revery Tashan already. It's one of the most iconic spells that enchanters can cast.
Revery |
Sure, when I get some money and find a place that sells it...

Gwendalyn wrote:Final: 1188.16 gpHow much have you spent on spells in total to this point in the game?
When I saw how expensive they were, I started saving up. (I'd also like full plate, but not when I have so few spells.) Started with four 1st-levels and got two 3rd-level spells as a GM bonus when we hit 5th, so I've just bought one 1st-level and two 2nd-level.
1 * (25 gp + 100 gp) + 2 * (100 gp + 200 gp) = 125 gp + 2 * 300 gp = 725 gp spent on spells so far.
A 3rd-level spell would cost (9 * 25 gp) + 300 gp = 225 gp + 300 gp = 525 gp. A 4th-level spell would cost (16 * 25 gp) + 400 gp = 400 gp + 400 gp = 800 gp. So I have enough for one 4th-level spell and one 2nd-level spell, or else two 3rd-level spells and one 1st-level spell (not accounting for price gouging). I'm thinking of just getting Turtle Skin and then continuing to save up, since I really want to get the Insidious Fever/Affliction combo in a couple of levels, and that'll be (25 * 25 gp) + 500 gp = 625 gp + 500 gp = 1125 gp each (2250 gp total).
Kwen |
Kwen has dinged for level 7... or at least I've finished a little while ago.
Very nice choice I think for the spells
Gwendalyn |
A fast (so to speak) reminder: If your base attack bonus minus weapon delay is one or more, such as a +5 BAB with a Quick (4) weapon, then check pg. 150 to see what iterative attacks you could make as a full-round action.
Piter de Colmar |
EJB: Which tome was opened up to reveal the new writing? The original one found in the cave? I though Loki held onto that one?
Piter de Colmar |
Did the evil group heal up before/after spending the night?
Revery |
Is that a yes or a no?
