The way myself and SeekerofShadowlight used to disagree I can count him as a former rival I guess, but eventually we stopped disagreeing. I think we ran out of things to disagree about, but when we agreed we were always right. :)
I think the problem is that seeker clearly just doesn't view the universe the same way most people do. he's a weird fella.

I just saw this, and I feel defamed.
CoDzilla was my rival. He was defeated and left to become some other sock puppet somewhere else. Now Captain Hammer is my rival.
Ashiel is not my rival. Ashiel is some dude who posts really long posts on a fairly regular basis. Sometimes the posts are interesting, sometimes informative, and sometimes they are attention seeking, self indulgent derails into munchkin-land that interrupt threads I had previously been enjoying.
I only reply to the last batch.
By the same token, others reply when I go off the rails. Toz and Gorb have called me out on occasion. Wraithstrike and I have had fights as long and detailed. Same with Dabbler and MA. I'm having one with Dabbler now, respectfully but with lines clearly draw.
And I wouldn't call them "rival" or "enemies".
I would call them old hands on the forum who are trying to enjoy themselves.
It ain't personal. If it becomes personal, I need to leave the internet.

For 5 bucks, I will be your rival. Here is what your money will get you: I will personally post no less than 20 posts on no less than 4 politroll threads calling you out for being wrong, no matter what your position is. I will also personally post no less than 10 posts defaming you in no less than 10 random threads.
For an extra 5 bucks, I will double your order and expand the threads to include the rules and advice sections of the forums, where I will tell you how wrong you are, even if you quote relevant sections of rulebooks. I will then attempt to cover for my defamation by saying that "It used to be that way in 3.5" in an attempt to keep the ruse going. Supplies are limited, so order now.

That's nothing! I used to have OVER EIGHT HUNDRED Rivals. Then I beat 'em all in a simultaneous pop quiz-game show-duel to the death-climb up Mount Everest and they all dropped dead. So I encased their bodies in stone, carved their faces in the rock with the power of my will and my bare, bloodied hands, and shipped the lot of 'em off to Easter Island.

Oh the Politics threads...if people think I am aggressive toward Ashiel they should have read the threads with the holocaust denier a while back...
And this I think is why I think the whole rivalry thing is silly.
I don't have an issue with anyone on here. I do often have issues with the things they are advocating.
If you are advocating cutting funding to things like FEMA and NASA while also calling for tax cuts for the wealthy, I strongly disagree with you.
If you are advocating genie binding your way to +5 ability bonuses is RAW and intended by the Devs, I strongly disagree with you.
And I voice these strong disagreements, particularly when others try to defend them. Specifically BECAUSE people try to defend them.
This is a forum, not a publishing company. If you want your views to be expressed in a setting where they can't be questioned, you came to the wrong place.
