Male Drow Noble Accountant 12/Monk 10

With two players out for the weekend, and myself having at best limited access, I won't move the plot forward until Sunday. That will give those left a couple of days to RP on both threads. Elen, go ahead and pm me with your Good Dreams feat so I can update that this afternoon. I'll answer questions throughout today as they come up. I should be back home Sunday afternoon, so we can head out for Tsar then.

We could also work on our cover story for the trip. :)

Our characters can also get to know each other a bit more.

The ladies can all go shopping together for girly stuff.

Asking Lavinia to duel would just end badly for her. She is fairly hopeless with weapons. Though that might be amusing for the rest of you.

These things have DR 10/Evil. Not a lot of health but hard to stop.

One summon Monster IV is not likely to challenge the entire team. I would have to get 4 or 5 out to do that, and I don;t quite have that any spells of that level yet.

Crunched some quick math, and it looks horrible, I wouldn't even scratch them

Waste of arrows D:

Since they are in point blank shot range...

Ranged (Deadly Aim + Rapid Strike)
+1 Seeking Darkwood Composite longbow (Str +3) +11/+11/+6 (1d8+9/x3)
(Masterwork Arrows add +1 to hit on all of the above )

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

If they would hit:

1d8 + 9 - 10 ⇒ (4) + 9 - 10 = 3
1d8 + 9 - 10 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 10 = 1
1d8 + 9 - 10 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 10 = 1

Seems like a total of 4 points of damage on one of them... pretty lame.
Could be increased with Gravity Bow but still... bah...

Yea. My ranger may take it some day, but rangers are not like fighters with the feats they get. Never enough. Aligning the weapon is a good idea. Slumber would be excellent as they have +0 will saves. Hexes are great for ignoring SR. Alchemist bombs too.

But keep in mind that the summoner would be up to other things as you dealt with his creatures.

Ok, thanks to this one, I may have found a use for my prestige points if LM still allows it :D

Potion/Oil of Align Weapon - will pop in for 300gp a dose - kinda expensive but should work on 50 projectiles - so if that is an option, I would like to either buy them with the pp OR with some of the money we received from the Society (and if the group agrees of course) - Evil and Good and that's done ;)

What say you guys?

I vote for using the party funds. A wand might actually be worth it -- the cost is 4500a but that's only 90 per charge. Or, Lavinia and Azaraunt could collaborate on a wondrous item that functions the same as the wand, following the magic item pricing guidelines at the srd, making a 50-charge spell trigger activated wondrous item costs the same, and with a lower cost due to crafting. If LM allows it, that is. Lavinia could use ot and since she is neutral, could use it to align weapons to whatever is needed.

@Wand questioning - Yes, I've already cleared the crating rules for everyone. In this case, someone will have to work on it on the boat during the trip to Gundrun. It will take up two of the three days, assuming that the costs to make = 1/2 x market cost.

Female Elf Witch (Winter Witch) 3 / Cleric VMC | HP 21/21 | AC:14, T:13, F:11 | CMD:13, CMB:0 | Save (F+2, R+4, W+4) | Init:+3 | Perc: +8 (-2 without familiar)

Total cargo capacity won't matter for the barge trip, but looking at carrying capacity and what our magical packs can hold, I'm going to suggest we handwave for simplicity and assume the following:

All characters except Ruul have a light horse. Ruul has a heavy horse.

If we pack the horses to a reasonable capacity and ride them, and fill our backpacks with what we can, each person and each horse can carry an average of 100 lbs, with the horse at medium load, giving us 1600 lbs of cargo capacity total on the trip to the camp. It's a 50 mile trip, so there will be at least one night, unless we use forced march rules. A medium load horse can do 28 miles in an 8-hour day, and forced marches rapidly reach diminishing returns as horses get fatigued and start taking nonlethal damage.

I think one overnight camp, followed by reaching the camp in the latter half of the 2nd day, is acceptable.

Bless Weapon > Align Weapon (except for ammunition]
except Bless Weapon costs 750 gp. I think we should designate a caster for Align Weapon. 50 projectiles should do an entire combat for us.

Don't really know how that will work if the Align Weapon needs to be split between 2 characters. Would it be 25 arrows or missiles each? Regarding memorizing a spell it would certainly be useful but it depends on how the wand works-do you need one for each alignment?

Regarding the "oil" version, is this a one time use? Or can I jus dip the arrows as I go? One today, three tomorrow, etc? If so, using these would be better I think, since it frees spell slots and actions that may be needed by our casters.

I recommend to the party that the designate caster of Align Weapon 2 bundles (large quivers) of 50 longbow arrows. They can be in their haversack. One bundle has been treated with silver weapon blanche, and the other is not. When the designate caster determines if the creature needs an alignment OR an alignment + silver, they take the appropriate bundle out of their Haversack (move) and cast Align Weapon (standard). Therefore, it would be better if the designate caster had the appropriate knowledge skills, too. Then, the archers could move to the caster to pick up arrows as necessary. After combat, the archers can replenish the caster's bundles to 50 from their own stores. Total Cost = 115 gp

(100) arrows = 15 gp
(10) silver weapon blanche = 100 gp
being prepared for evil + silver DR = priceless

cheers

I think Lavinia was being designated to align weapons since she is Neutral and can pick whatever alignment is needed and has plenty of knowledge to figure out what is needed.

Male Fetchling Ninja

I was thinking of weight and thinking all arrows get the silver blanche, so those arrows, blancke, and package costs are 5, 50, and 55 gp, respectively. The Align Weapon takes care of hitting incorporeal, I think.

Thanks Lavinia, your archers appreciate your actions.

Hi all. Back from the great outdoors. Had a very nice time. Great weather this weekend where I was.

For the price, I recommend archers always shoot cold iron arrows as their default arrow. That will help with demons and fey. And weapon blanches are great as they can do 10 pieces of ammo and their drawback of only being good for one hit pretty much goes away with ammo. It takes a little while to apply the blanches, but that can be done well in advance as it does not wear off. Cheap Adamantine arrows for everyone.

Maybe a third 50 arrow bundle of cold iron weapon blanche is 2.5 gp for the arrows and 250 gp for the blanche. = 252.5 gp.

@Calendir Yes, me too. The point is to give the caster a pool of arrows for us to replenish.

Male Drow Noble Accountant 12/Monk 10

The wedding I went to was my sister-in-law. It rained during the ceremony, but it was a private ceremony in their (I wish I could afford one of those) townhouse. The reception was nice, but it was at one of those 'high-falutin' places where the portions are either real small, or covered in stuff that you have to have explained to you. Needless to say, I took the missus to Outback afterwards for some real food. LOL

By the by, I just wanted to say how awesome this has been going so far.. I caught some of the posts that went on in my absence, and I have to say that I am just gobsmacked by everything the party has done to get ready for Tsar. In my rl group, it would have taken a full month (in real time) just to get to the boat. It has been quite awhile since I've had the fortune to play with 'real' gamers, and I am truly looking forward to leading all of you on an adventure. I just wanted to tell you guys that, it has been a few years since I could have said that to anyone.

I'll try to post a setup for 3/17 tonight, but it will likely happen in the morning. Next stop: Gundrun!! (maybe...)
