It's weird, I keep looking at the donor number and amount raised and it fluctuated for a minute. We're still at 83% of goal with 11 days to go. I fully admit to being nervous. Nick, I seriously suggest that if you are indeed living in Hawaii, find a shrine to Pele and make nice with the goddess, if you made her mad at you do what you can to undo that. She can be VERY temperamental. You gave her a nice prominent position in this, convince her you did it to honor her and maybe she'll use her divine powers to really crank up the funding heat.
Yeah, I'm a full on Pagan gamer so I do think Pele is very real and hoping she is amused by this sort of devotion. And if not amused at the very least not angry with us. A volcano goddess like her is not a deity you want annoyed with you. Plenty of tourists have invoked her wrath before and I do think that if she is pleased by having her in this book she do something positive for the project.

To boot: shoot for the stars and hit the moon! So let's go for the stretch goals. Besides, I've seen some of what they're planning to do for Angry Waters by Rich Pett, Jungle Fever by Owen Stephens, Black Spot by Gary McBride and Sinful Whispers by Tom Knauss.
EDIT: *whips head around for Blonde Frog*
I think its ok that I said all that.
Oh Lou... I hope you like whips and chains cause you have a punishment coming so perverse... just kidding. That one was okay. It's Skeeter I usually have to watch. That boy will sing given the chance.

Gotcha. Well then, you'll probably be excited (or at least interested) that we've converted Craig Shackleton's popular Art of the Duel to Pathfinder and included it in the main book.
AND
You'll probably like that if your PCs survive to high enough lievels, you'd be able to have a fight a bit like the 20k Leagues under Squid battle or, alternately, have a duel with the Kraken on a cliff top. For real.
I squid you not.
*ducks*
*quack, quack, quack*
Ducks!!
Awesome pun, Lou! Don't let them get you down, punning is the highest form of humor!
I found it interesting that just after I posted my response, I got an email about the beastie to which you allude. I thought to myself, "Self, that must be what Lou Agresta had in mind as he posted his question. Now, drink more coffee!"
I've not heard of Art of the Duel by Craig Shackleton, I'll be interested to check that out!
Re: funding there's still a lot of time, and not that far to go. I'm not worried about this funding, I'm just hoping that we can nail some of the stretch goals. I would like to read those four bonus adventures. If Pathfinder Online doesn't fund, that would free me up to increase my pledge here by a bit...

One of the backers has worked long and hard at convincing me to pledge. Which I will do as soon as I have an answer to the following question :
The update #6 implies that this dastardly devious dweller on dark seas can get some benefits from converting me to the Cause (his exact words).
Can someone please tell me what I (or he) need to do so that he can reap the rich rewards of recruiting another backer.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good works. I will try to attract other potential backers.

The Cause? That's either...encouraging or disturbing. Or both. I like both. Here here for disturbing causes that cause disturbance!
I wish there were some specific benefit to be gained by bringing in another backer, beyond what's already been articulated. While I hate to disappoint, update #6 was aimed at "If every backer convinces 1 more backer, we'll double our backer numbers, fund beyond funding and get WELL into stretch goal land."
I can't imagine more was meant than that. Suffice it to say, stretch goals were planned far beyond what any reasonable human could hope to hit in the hopes of delivering unreasonable value. So there are more goals beyond what the Frogs already revealed.
As it is we've attracted tremendous community and industry support and found ways to bring more value to the core product. So to summarize, if we fund, in Pathfinder the

What we haven't announced is that Greg Vaughan, who participated in the conversion of Freeport to Pathfinder will be including a piece to the core Razor Coast book that explores integrating Freeport and Razor Coast.
Nor have I mentioned that some of what I wrote in Brace of Pistols was originally written to be part of Razor Coast; so, I'm extra excited that SGG is owned by incredibly creative and generous people.
I'm also very excited by our stretch goals (in no particular order below), which (if I have to guess), might be the benefit to which your friend alluded? Please don't discount them. There's new content in
1. Fire As She Bears
A Ship to Ship combat system written by myself and John Ling that I think solves the problems that plague many attempts at this. For one, everyone has something fun and important to do every single turn, and the cinematic power of Master and Commander style sea battles blends with historical, Age of Sail realities, melds with the RPG system. Not to mention tons of new magical items, spells, feats, and the ability to roll up an Age of Sail frigate (or other ship) from the keel out -- just like you'd design a new character.
2. Heart of the Razor
Four new Razor Coast adventures from the mad minds and amazing talents of Richard Pett, Owen KC Stephens, Gary McBride, and Tom Knauss
3. d20 Pro and Hero Labs conversions
4. Upping the Player's Guide to Hardcover
5. Heart of the Razor in Hardcover
and more that they aren't letting me talk about for fear of a Blond Frog retributive strike.
Hope that answers your question. If it doesn't, consider joining us tonight at Refresh and Reload at 10:30pm EST and nail me down.

Thanks, Itchy!
FYI Art of the Duel is here on Paizo in 3.5; it's been converted to Pathfinder for Razor Coast, but it should give you the idea.

I can do it, I will make him scream till he is hoarse, cry till his eyes bleed, his body will ache and his muscles will feel like they are pulling free from his bones, from muscle spasms. He will bargain, cry, scream, offer to worship anything and anyone, plead, and in the end he will beg for more.

Vaughan isn't the only person on this project who had a hand in converting Freeport/ ;)

I'll piggy back on this a little bit. My wife was kind enough to "play test" the build rules for us. She's a gamer, but she's not a "number cruncher." She was able to take the rules and build a fully functional warship within a half-hour. Best of all (to me at least) was that she reported that she started on page one and went straight through until the end. She didn't have to flip from section to section - just straight through, from one section to the next building out the ship.
After you build out your ship, as Lou mentioned the book then gives you a combat system that makes every player at the table important and meaningful. A lot of other systems out there give the captain a whole bunch of things to do, and everybody else sits around and makes towers out of their dice. While dice towers can be cool and all, we figured it was more fun to engage the entire table in the naval combat.
And then beyond that we give your PC a whole bunch of new options - spells, feats, magic items, new skill uses, and so on. Whether they're used by the PCs or the GM uses them to spice up the NPCs, they add a bunch of flavorful options to the game.
It's almost certainly the hardest project I've ever worked on. I called Lou a lot of names - sometimes in the emails we were exchanging, other times under my breath. But I really do think this is a killer system. I'm really proud of this book, and I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that we hit the stretch goal that allows it to get published.
And hopefully saying all this doesn't put me on Blondie's kill list...

Thanks, I just assumed the pdf level would be cheaper than the pdf & print level, but I hadn't taken into account the cheap print + pdf doesn't actually give the actual book, just the player's guide.
