Would it be possible to add a level between 5 and 30 for a PDF of the player's guide? I can understand why you prefer print players guides, of course.
Can anyone think of a good reward for pledging $20? A few guys in my group might help out, but 5 is low and 30 high.A poster, maybe? A PDF of the cover scaled to A2 that they can get printed at the copy shop? Anything!

I am just loving everything I am seeing for this project. The fact that I'll be able to take this to CT and running it for my fellow furs if this funds, and I pray that it does, possibly in tandem with Skull and Shackles in its own world.
Oh yes. This + Skull and Shackles equals nautical adventure OVERLOAD! They should gel nicely.
As a side note: While there are pirates in Razor Coast, its important to point out that there is A LOT more as well. Pirates are cool and they are in there, but really this campaign setting is a morass of freakery and horror and adventure far beyond a mere pirate expo. You shall not be dissatisfied. :-)
Hope you all enjoy it! I have a good feeling about this puppy funding and the mighty curse that has plagued the Razor for going on 5 years finally being broken!

Reaper had a link to the KS on their front page a few days ago....yup, still there (I had to check)

Oh, you mean like asking them to add a mention to their next update?
Yes I asked days and days ago and haven't heard back. Fingers crossed though.

I have bought about a dozen FGG products and I am a patron of Kobold's Dark Deeds in Freeport (meaning I like Frog God and I'm okay with pirate stuff).
I've resisted signing up for this one because, with Freeport and Skull and Shackles out there, I didn't see any need for another pirate-ish campaign/setting. In fact, I still don't get it.
But I'm a Necromancer fan and I know that if Frog God is behind something, it's high quality and at the least, a great read. So,even though I doubt I'll ever run or play this, I signed on for $50 today.
As for a bigger donation, I have far too many books in my house and with rare exceptions (like the upcoming FGG campaign world!), only buy PDFs. Pot sweeteners for me would be the additional adventures, etc as pdfs. Giving more moneyto get print copies isn't something that works for me.
Best of luck making the target!

Same here. I only get PDFs, I can't have things shipped to my current residence, and PDFs are simply more convenient altogether for me. +1 to more options that are PDF-only.

So who would be a higher CR, wife, girlfriend, or dare I say to those gamers who are studmuffins out there (not I rest assured), lovers?
On a serious note, great job with the efforts at spreading the word folks. I for one appreciate everybody's efforts on the Paizo MBs regarding this project to get the word out. I was able to plant 3 fliers in the 3 local gaming stores in the area. I hope they generate some buzz and at the very least, people take a gander at the Kickstarter page.

I stopped at our FLGS and talked to the manager about FGG and the Razor Coast Kickstarter. He is going to call his distributor in Austin. He has previously carried Necromancer Games stuff and was unaware of what has been going on but did hear about the RA kickstarter. I have had a previous business relationship there in the past so perhaps something may come of it.

You should see if you can get Jon Brazer Enterprises to contribute Book of Magic: Pirate Spells to the PDF treasure trove - it would be a nice fit.

Nice! Doesn't hurt as the ol' cliche says.

Maybe some one could start a new thread or use the ones I started on ENW and RPG.net to show off the preview pages. I don't feel that I should post replies to my own posts on them, looks weird!
EDIT: and it has been posted on ENW. May I make a suggestion? Why make the previews backers only? Don't you want more people to see the quality and encourage them to pledge. Backers have already pledged and we don't need encouragement! I doubt many people would pledge just to see a preview.

I posted on the other sites. Also, the other previews have spoiler alerts and are more in depth. We will have other sneak peeks open to all but the next few "Inside Looks" will be for the backers :)

Great, and the sneak peaks are awesome, can't wait for more.
Quite looking forward to the PDFs too, I don't get many 3PP PDFs so it will be interesting to see what they are like. Maybe I'll get more, if they are of a quality of FGG, Kobold Press or like The Way of the Wicked then I certainly will!My thanks to those publishers who tossed their goods into the booty!

Now that I've pledged, I'll just start throwing my opinion around left and right...
If it's cost effective, lowering the threshold for a .pdf of Dead Man's Chest (which is $16.79 at Drive Thru RPG) might help. Or better yet, a "pdf pack add on" option.
There's nothing between $50 and $110. I get that the cost of a hardback is included in that difference. But that's a pretty big gap: especially if somebody doesn't want a print copy.
Mir |
I also wondered about options for people to just pledge 5$ then and add on just to get the ships or other things. There may be people who are into minis and would pick up the ships or something else who don't actually want to pick up Razor Coast. Options to add money to get a stretch goal item might be nice as well. I would be interested in a softcover version Heart of the Razor and while I'm not going to pledge enough to get that I might throw some extra cash to get it as an add in option. I don't know what the cost breakdowns are but the more options the better I would assume.

Hmm... I'm thinking about how to best use this setting in my homebrew.
I have a enormous mythic medieval India setting I'm dying to use and I'm feeling like maybe placing Port Shaw more or less in the location of Madagascar, given that the Indian Ocean was historically in the late 17th early 18th centuries the actual centre of piracy on Earth (kinda like it is now..., actually). Plus it's closer to Libertatia than any real place in our world...
Of course, that means reflavouring the natives as Malagasy and such. But it also means I finally get to do both & import in a bit of Sindbad as well.
Of course there are legendary islands of cannibals and such (possibly based on the Andamans) already in sailor's legend in the Indian Ocean.
The illustrations give me the sense that the general tech level of the guns and such is comparable to the 1650s-1720s. This is a more powder-friendly setting than Golarion in that regard. Is that right?

Wow, big thread - OK – QUESTION:
Back “in the day” I was literally one of the first folks to throw in for this. All my Eberron campaign players were scarred for life over Nic’s work in Dungeon Magazine and beyond and I was so looking forward to this book! When Nic and friends were doing refunds for other projects Sinister was doing, I got refunds for the other projects but asked him to keep my original Razor Coast funds because I had such faith it would someday be made. So you can only imagine my joy at this news.
I received an email with this from Frog God Games:
"On behalf of both Frog God Games and Lou Agresta, this is a special thank you to those of you who stuck in there, hoping and wishing that Razor Coast would make it to the gaming table one day. Fan like YOU are why it is even possible for us to launch the Razor Coast Kickstarter."
I’m assuming this means I am on the list of folks to receive the book? Don’t get me wrong, that’s great, but I want to up it with some of the extras and want to be sure this email confirms I’m already on that exalted list.
Thanks Frogs, thanks Nic, and HUZZAH to this being made for Pathfinder!

Dude! Blending this with Fantasy India given its Age of Sail Dark Fantasy edge sound bloody perfect! I wish I'd thought of that.
In answer to the powder question, the answer is yes, although we were careful to make sure anyone who wants can ditch powder and go with catapults and clockwork or magical crossbows.

Jeff, if you got that email, it means you should be on the list. If you want to double and triple check, you can plug in your original order email at the bottom of the page here. Also lets you update your shipping and email info.
Thanks for keeping the faith and for backing! If you jump in at the $110 level they bump you to the $150 which now includes a LOT of extras, including all the 3PP Pirate Pack of PDFs. Ah, alliteration, always acts with actinic activation and accelerates the altitude of my attitude. :)

After going over my notes, I'm definitely moving forward with this cross-over. It's got the Mogul Empire, Rocs, the Ganj-i-Sawai, Captain Kidd, the East Indian Company, the Islands of Spice, Malagasy extinct fauna like giant birds, Rakshasas, Man-eating trees, the Islands of Waq-waq, the Ocean of Darkness, and fantasy Australia. Frankly, the idea is pretty intoxicating.
So - how are the rest of you guys going to use Razor Coast?

So - how are the rest of you guys going to use Razor Coast?
Supplemental material for my Savage Tide/Serpent's Skull mashup I have planned for after I finish my current Kingmaker game (in a couple years, at the going rate), plus resources for future campaign materials and ideas =)
It is mere coincidence that my own homebrew setting - created back in 2007, well before I'd heard of this project - also has a region known as the Razor Coast, the western border of the frigid tundra known as the Ice Claw. So I imagine there's some implementation and crossover potential there =)

If my Shackled City game had completed, the next step was using the first two mods of Savage Tide to springboard into a sandbox campaign using Kobold Press' Journeys to the West. I imagine Razor Coast would have supplemented that nicely, adding to Sasserine quite well.

I'm going to bring material from the Skull & Shackles AP, Cerulean Seas, Sunken Empires, Free Port and info from the one book in the Carrion Crown AP that dealt with Lovecraft for a true Dark Fantasy set in the Age of Sail.
OOOOOOooooooh! Sounds positively devilish. In a delicious way!
