@Everyone asking about pledge levels and HotR -- gonna let the full-time Frogs answer that. I'm sure they'll be along shortly.

Scarab Sages

You've got me at $150 level - there's so much goodness in there, gotta get it in print!

FGG is one of the publishers that I don't have a problem supporting with pledges. I have Rappan Athuk Pathfinder, Tome of Horrors Complete, and Slumbering Tsar. So adding Razor coast isn't a problem. The problem comes in when it appears I have limited funds and cannot pledge at the level I would like to.

I can relate to that and have all three myself. Been out of work for the last six months or we would be pledging more here also. I am having to reply on another of our group to get it this time.

You know what...

Let me just say something here.

I started Necromancer and quickly got Bill involved and that was such an amazing team. We had such a blast with Necro. Things progressed in my life such that I couldnt really focus on Necro anymore and I am so proud to let Bill run with it.

What I want to say is this: Projects like this, finding a way to bring RC to life, is exactly what third party publishers should be all about. This is totally who Bill Webb is--a super-great guy who I am proud to call a dear friend.

Bill, I love that you and the FGG team could make this happen.

This right here is the true spirit of what open gaming is supposed to be all about. Then you add the amazing community here at Paizo and the various boards and you add in the brilliance of kickstarter and you have exactly this project.

This is just 100% pure gamer awesomeness. I am so proud of you guys that you got this going forward.

I've been proud of a lot of things I was able to accomplish with Bill--bringing back Gygax's Necropolis, Kuntz' Maze series, Judges Guild and the CSIO and Wilderlands, Grimtooth. We were able to do so many great things that I was so proud of. But this is really an amazing achievement.

To Bill and the team at FGG and everyone involved in this, you guys were my friends before but my hat is off to all of you. Incredible.

I hope everyone really gets behind this. This is truly, truly an industry "moment." This is the stuff people remember years and years from now. This is the stuff people will talk about, the stuff of legend. Bill and I have had those moments before with Necro, and this is one for the most recent era of open gaming.

Amazing. I am speechless. And, for those who know me, that never happens.

Bravo!

Well Bill has put his own style on it, but it retains its roots in the work that was done by all the people at Necromancer over the last 10 years or so. Glad Bill can continue to build on that. I was starting to get somewhat jaded until the last few months when FGG brought out the Rappan Athuk Kickstarter. I was a backer then and will continue to back good projects to the best of my ability. Heck, maybe even some day I might even get writing again!

I believe I confirmed my pre-order from an older aol email address I no longer use with any frequency. So where I sit, it's going to be glorious. Set sail for the Razor Coast!

Inspiring that Clark chimed in!

However, I still would like to know whether I'm eligible for the Heart of Razor-book with a pledge of $225+$30 shipping for a total of $255 or not.

But that's not all!

When we hit our first bonus goal (NOW AT $80,000) we will create and publish FOUR new adventures exclusively for Razor Coast, for levels high and low, written by some of your favorite authors. The PDF of these adventures will be added to all the pledge levels at or above $150 and softcover print books will be added to all the pledge levels at or above $250.

As you did not pledge at or above 250$ I wouldn't think so.

Damn - somehow I will have to scrounge together the remaining bucks. Thanks for the post, bigkilla! :D

Just in case here's the link for the Kicktraq tracking for Razor Coast. I know there is a way to embed this but I haven't figured it out..

http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/froggodgames/razor-coast/#

Right now they estimate 127,000$, know idea how accurate it is.

edit: should have been "I have no idea how accurate it is." Looks like it's time for bed! :)

Their projection tends to be more accurate than their trend. The trend simply looks at the current rate of pledges and continues that trend. With a large initial burst, the trend will look huge.

The projection - which factors in fluctuations in the pledging and the general burst / lull / burst of Kickstarters - has them from 77k to 121k.

That seems more likely to me. :)

Yeah, scraping through but if we have a burst with a week to go then people could pile in because it is guaranteed and the extras look good.

I think lying is bad. I think we should help anyone who is a liar not be a liar. I think we owe it to kicktraq to spread the word, and share the kickstarter to at _least_ -- so their projection becomes true. I think we owe it to kicktraq to protect them from lies. We need to band together and help them be truthful. *sniff* we owe them sooo much *sniff* It's the least we can do.

:)

PS Mir and Tom - thanks for the link!

But but the 225 level is the the 250 level sans minis. Pretty please include the Heart of the Razor there. It makes sense and I don't need no mini or increased tax.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Seconded Thanael. I don't use minis and they only gather dust at my place.

Although I am currently at the same 225 level (awaiting money calculations to see if I can go higher). I get what Thanael and EndZ are talking about but there has to be a cut off somewhere for an entire new book and Frogs have chosen 250. If I am unable to go to the levels I want I will still pop it up to the 250, even tho I also don't really want the mini. An extra 35 (with international shipping) for a new book is still good value. If taxes are a problem send a message for them not to put the mini in!

I also guess/hope that there will be an add on for that book if we make the 80K before the end.

Well the Frogs managed to melt more of my plastic with all the add ons and I went in for $250 even though our group is already pledged. I can keep it as a collectors item if nothing else. Yeah, really didn't need another copy of the mini but I wanted the add ons so I sprung for it.

Just thought I would throw my oar in the waters and say that anyone doubting should back this thing. It NEEDS to be out there.
Way back when Lou first got involved (2010 I believe) I volunteered to help proofread it (I freelance translate & proofread) and had a chance to read the whole thing. It was great! It had a tremendous...coherency about it - everything fitted together. The Razor Coast was alive and real; in a way it felt like an adult version of the Sword Coast - if you first got excited about that in the boxed set 2e edition days. There were encounters and set-pieces that have never left me since, moments I desperately wanted to use in other games as DM, but wanted to save for an RC campaign. I spent a good 40 or 50 hours reading, chasing down wayward commas and

And then it didn't happen. Now we're a few years further and Lou has been in touch. Would I consider coming back to the RC project and giving it another once-over? "Happy to help!" I said, hoping my new job and daughter would leave me some time to actually do it.

And it turns out that folks have been tweaking and teasing at this bad boy for quite a while. Back in 2010, it was fantastic. Now it is world-class stupendous. Goose-pimples, gasp-out-loud, giggle-and-yell-and do-little-dances stupendous. There are scenes and NPCs that will give people memories that stay with them for years. Gaming moments to share at cons and on forums like this - oh, man... if you join in and get this published, you will not regret it. It's worth more than $40 for a plain textfile.

I'm not going to give away spoilers, but I am allowed to talk about some stuff. What Lou has added to let a GM REALLY create an entire Razor Coast experience that pushes the buttons of his/ her players - it's masterful. For all Nick Logue fans, this is some of his best work. This IS, in my opinion, his best work. There are bad guys even better than the uncut Grauls he shared on the sinister website (the ones too gross for Hook Mountain Massacre). The vignettes, the drama, the gore... everything just... Works. So. Well. There are throwaway scenes everywhere that can become major campaign experiences in their own right, never mind the overarching plot. And tips for doing just that.

What did the Frog say? "Feel free to discuss things you particularly liked or particularly thrilled you. Avoid spoilers where possible but feel free to talk about it."

Alrighty then. I'll avoid the entire major plot arc and skirt around the edges first. What I particularly liked - the little things that open up the world to the GM, for one.

There's a kind of Fight Club thing going on at one bar, and the participants are just bursting with character. Just reading their history had me writing down scenario ideas and wanting to port the whole place wholesale into my current campaign. And that's one pub in one district.

There are random encounter tables that could end up being run over many sessions if the players like the hooks and run with them. I absolutely love that.

Then there are the sewers. Oh my good lords and ladies - do NOT go down there!

And, of course, the undead cannibal pygmies. Or should I not have mentioned them?

Folks, I know it's a lot of money, but there is a lot - a LOT - in the package. I'm nervous that if too many people wait to buy it later it might not fund at all, and that would be a terrible shame. Not just for all the folks needing paid for all their work (not me, I'm just a volunteer semicolon-tracker) - artists and writers and printers and cartographers and what have you. It'd be a shame because if you help now, you will be able to read the whole masterpiece and will thank your past self for its wisdom every single day thereafter!

Oh man, I just so want this to make it!

You have no idea how little I care about pirate RPG material. And yet. The siren call is luring me in.

Yup - signed by his High Logueliness and a couple of the rest of us.

Oh, and would it help to say it's not merely a "pirate" setting, rather its murder, dark mystery, and twisted horror, in an age of colonization, exploration and sail set in a fantastical Hawaii that never was?

Think Master and Commander meets Pathfinder/S&W with a dash of REH (say Queen of the Black Coast) and dose of horror.

Heart of Darkness with tentacles.

Tiki powered Terrors.

Ok, now I'm just having fun.
