I keep having an internal berate with myself on whether or not I want an print copy of the Pathfinder version or if I'll just pick up the PF Pdf after release.
I suppose I really shouldn't be encouraging people to spend more money on another 3pp's Kickstarter (though my involvement in this one has finally been revealed)...
BUT
One of the reasons I got involved with this was my believe the print book is going to be worth having. Yes, it's pricey. That's a big reason you don't see many 3pp tackling full-color interiors and high-quality stitched spine hardbacks. But that very cost means this is one is going to be something special. It's already one for the rpg history books, and I suspect years from now people who have this will sit it next to Ptolus and similar pricey, high-end books as jewels of their rpg collections.
It's flavorful. It's something most publishers wouldn't touch. It's well-done. And without the Kickstarter funding, there won't be any "after release" to pick up.
So yeah, even though I probably shouldn't, I'd encourage you to spring for the print book.

Glad to see the update! Please throw something on the main page about it! You can only see this on the update page as far as I can tell. It would be easy for people new to the Kickstarter to miss it.
This will probably put me up the 110$ (150 as a preorder) at some point in time. I'd love to see more info on the adventures(length, subject etc). My only minor quibble is I wouldn't be getting the character sheet pdf at this level and if I'm honest with myself I'll probably end up using other character sheets anyway (those grapes are definitely sour).
Keep the updates coming!

I'm DEFINATELY getting a print copy of the S&W version (I was actually the very first backer), it's only the Pathfinder print vs PDF that I'm on the fence about.

Slight annoyance with the KS page, perhaps it is just me...
If I scroll up and down the page with arrow keys, when I get to the top of the page the video automatically play in full screen.
It is really annoying and it took me about three annoying experiences to realise that I had to press the down arrow (not an intuitive response) to close full screen video: the escape key wouldn't do it and the back arrow on my browser took me away from the kickstarter site to the thing I was last reading.
Also, it means I can't use the keyboard arrows to see my kickstarter toolbar at the top, I have to click on the arrow at the top of the scrollbar, like it's still the 20th century...
I don't know why you would want to discourage people from exploring the page? I think it is a Kickstarter innovation but it is a terrible one and they're testing it on Razor Coast.
I think it's meant to trick you into exploring other kickstarter videos, like they want you to start looking at Razor Coasr but then navigate away and end up funding a food magazine in Chicago... lame.

I agree with GeraintElberion, this is rather annoying. I hadn't noticed it before as I usually use the scroll button on my mouse but it sucks for those who use the arrow keys.
There's not a lot Frog God Games can do about it, though, unless they have the option of disabling the feature in a control panel or some such.

Between this, the Goblinworks Kickstarter and Grande Temple of Jing, my bookshelf might collapse!
Oooooh...do tell - linky?
I pre-ordered the Pathfinder book way back when, but now I find I play less 3.0+ D&D and more AD&D, so I'm definitely going to pledge for the S&W book...just not sure how much to dive in for! That way, I'll have both versions. Heh.

Hell of an update. I feel like less of a jerk for my criticism about the pricing now lol. In at $150, hopefully there's an option to add on the included adventures as a printed book as well ;p
Looking forward to this, truth is I've yet to even use my Frog God books but I certainly like to help support the industry. Tons of great memories of 1st and 2nd ed D&D so love helping keep some of that flavor around for these young pups =)

On the other hand, they're at 54% of funds raised with 20 days to go. For comparison, the Pathfinder MMO is at the same funding marker percentage-wise with only 12 days left.
I am sad to say, though, that I had to scale back from Carpenter to First Mate. Did the number crunching for this month's budget and just can't commit to any more than that right now.
GeraintElberion |
I don't think the PFMMO kickstarter will fund, despite the masses of extras being thrown out before meeting the basic funding goal.
They've got 12 days to raise half a million dollars...
So, not a great comparison.
I could just as easily point out that things like reaper and kingdom death met the target in a week and then had stretch-goals-a-go-go.
Stretch goal parties are for projects which fund early, not things which look like they'll scrape through. [/fingers crossed]

As far as Nic, Richard, Adam, Lou, and Greg.....I'd arrange a "friendly" drinking match at PaizoCon or Gencon, but Im afraid the Frog higher-ups would put a quick squash on that. And, I know at least Greg doesn't soil himself with such activities.
I'll back the Logue and the Agresta in a drink or two (or many more). I think that's the least I can offer to help assure they comes back to the Cons.

Nic and Pett are not the only one to corner crazy...
Hmmm... The incentive to go to PaizoCon just went up, at least assuming I'm invited to this little drinking contest.

Well let's spread the word even more, then they'll be no scraping just fast sailing and stretch goal parties! I like parties. Just sayin'.

I started threads over at ENWorld and RPG.net; so if any of you have accounts over at those sites join in the threads and help keep the discussion on the front pages :D

If I was going to sum-up Razor Coast for those sights I'd call it Pirate Ptolus.
"Pirate Ptolus
A Sandboxy world with numerous interwoven plots that all combine into a mega-adventure that can play out a heap of different ways. Plus excellent rules for duelling and shi-to-ship combat which combine smoothly with the core rules.
Plus a major (64 page) players guide, super-cool character sheets and top-quality art."
FGG might consider dropping samples from the Indulgences to tempt people, they are all good and I don't think anyone who bought them 5 years ago would begrudge seeing art of the duel or blood waters available for free.
That would be worthy of attention-grabbing posts and e-mails too: "Frog God Games release FREE pirate rules as teaser for amazing Razor Coast Kickstarter!"

Also you mentioned on Google+ about the art in the S+W version (on the awesome pic of Pele); can you give more details of that? I cannot comment on the pic for whatever reason. Thanks.
Thanks mach1.9pants!
Hope this puppy funds - it really is breakthrough as a product. A completely non-linear build-it-anyway-you-like-it adventure path and a Mammy Graul-sized campaign setting to boot. Throw in the indulgences and its PACKED. New rules, tons of side adventures, a whole path, campaign setting, you name it.
From some of the sweatiest fever dreamers working in the industry as well. I still have high hopes this dark and awful monstrosity will fund! Rock and roll!

ummm, she'll be nude in S&W? Is that what you want to know? Here's the sneak peek about it: Pele

Are there other major differences between the art (or the content, for that matter) in the two iterations of the book? Does the S&W version push more boundaries since you don't have to conform to Paizo's standards for the Pathfinder compatibility license?
This is important. (And not just because of Pele's smoldering nipples.)

But not in the PF? :(
Unfortunately, there is an "ethical" or "code of conduct" standard that we abide by for PF releases. Completely fairly; this is a family game. Although I would never subject my family to Logue or Pett's feverish concepts...
It also affected Black Monastery a while back, and I got to coin the term "Demon Junk".
All in all, a good day.

There is one other art piece for sure in the main book of some Native woman that needed to be covered more. The bare chested men are the same in both versions though. I am sure we can make those art pages available after the fact to those who get the PF version.
As far as Heart of the Razor we haven't got the art for this yet. As we approach the funding number we will be able to get this and share some. So no promises on nudity or not in that one :)
Also, Machpants I didn't mean to insinuate anything, I just wasn't sure what you meant. And besides, I am always jonesin' for some nudity, who isn't?
