Into the maw - replacement for Azael (minor spoilers)

Savage Tide Adventure Path

One of my PCs is collecting favors. So she saved the life of Skald in HTBM in return for a favor (no, she does not have an alignment ending in 'good'). She also saved Irgzid and even helped him save the other troglodytes in TLD.
I want these NPCs to return the favors. I have already done this with Skald in SOS, but not yet with Irgzid. Now I want Irgzid to make some kind of huge sacrifice to Laogzed, so that he finally will be somewhat interested in the fact that Demogorgon usurped the troglodytes in TLD (just enough to send one of its creatures to 'help').
So I want to replace Azael in the encounter "an unlikely guide" in ITM with an avatar sent by Laogzed. Needless to say this should be something loathsome, but still a potential ally for the PCs (and the creature will of course not eat them for the time being). Since this is on the Abyss, this should probably be some kind of outsider. Now I can of course simply make a half-fiend troglodyte, but I have the feeling that this creature should be much more loathsome.

Any suggestions?

A Fiendish Froghemoth?
A Charnel Hound filled with green slime?

Hmmmmm, I'll have to think about it :-)

I was thinking about a froghemoth myself. Problem is that the monster should at least have some intelligence. Enough to say things like. "What did you say!? Oh, that! I thought I would have to eat you."
I also like it when it keeps obnoxiously leaning over the other group members when they are discussing their plans, preferably dripping slime on them.
I read somewhere that avatars of Laogzed are a cross between a troglodyte and a toad. So I was also thinking of slaadi.
I will have some time, though. They have just started with Serpents of Scuttlecove.

My first thought was a Slaad, only as I've just PF'ed the Blue Slaad from SWW (that's where my group is).

Maybe a Slaad with a 'blessed' of Laogzed style template...? Something that causes him to ooze poison (or green slime)

Fiendish Slaad, with the appropriate fluff.

Basically what TBA suggested is enough for this one.

I'd love to throw in a shemhazian demon but it doesnt really fit here. Possibly an advanced Greater Ooze demon?

Plus - slaadi are great, there can never be enough, and SOS should get them nice and riled up towards slaadi :-)

Thanks for the reactions. I think I will go with the oozing slaad. I definitely want this monster to drip something. Green slime is nice.

After all the conversion I did for the Blue Slaad, my group went and avoided it (by casting Remove Disease on the 'father'), and then waited for whatever it was to pass through the system

They're now trying to work out what the little blue thing in the broken egg is. :)

Makes me want to replace other creatures with Slaad now... I agree with Carborundum, Slaad are great

I would use a half fiendish froghemoth with a boosted Intelligence score. Slaad are cool too though.

Must come up with a reason to use them both now! :-)

The ooze slaad works well as one of Belshamoth's servitors, or possibly even a partner/lover.

I have gone for the half-fiend ooze slaad. Laozged was just chewing on a half-fiend slaad when his cleric Irzgid (after sacrificing many troglodytes) asked him to send help to the PCs against Demogorgon. So Laozged spit out the half-eaten half-fiend slaad (which gave it the ooze template) and sent it to the group. Then he started eating all the troglodydes, including Irzgid of course. The ooze slaad has a note from Irzgid (packaged in something immune to acid) where he tells what he has done and that he is honored because he will now finally be eaten by Laozged.
The rest of the encounter will remain the same, except that the blood fiends will be having a bit of demonic fun at the expense of the ooze slaad, and will be bullying and torturing this "creature of a loser god" which they cannot take seriously at all.
I will keep the froghemoth in mind, though. Perhaps Laozgeds interference will not stop there and he will be a minor help in EOME.
