CommonCon - The gaming convention for the everyday, common gamer!
(Sponsored by The Common Room of Bloomington, Indiana)

CommonCon 2013 - January 5-6, 2013

For the first year, CommonCon is going to be on the small side, and will focus on Pathfinder Society, but we're currently working on a 3-year plan to expand to encompass Magic: the Gathering, Live-Action Roleplaying groups such as "The Camarilla", and other games as well.

As of October 2012, we are planning 5 time slots with 3-4 Pathfinder Society tables per time slot. A full list of scenarios will be announced and posted before November 2012.

Featured - "The Dinner Table" - Join Venture Lieutenant Mike Bramnik at a special "Oasis" table for dinner and the Season 3 Exclusive Scenario, "The Cyphermage Dilema" Friday night of CommonCon (a small additional admission fee may be required for this table).

Admission will be $6 for each day, or $10 for both days. Pre-registration information will be announced and posted during or before November 2012.

Please contact Mike Bramnik if you would like any information that isn't posted here!

Mike key me know if you like me to gm our help.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Hey Mike, also let us know if you want to do any special events, like a GM101 or Kids Track! I'd be happy to run one of those. Or anything really!

Silver Crusade 5/5

This, I might actually go to. I have family in Bloomington I can stay with and visit. I'll chat with my wife.

Shadow Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ****

Tracy and Chris - I should know in the next few days how our local GM situation looks, but I think we'll definitely have a spot for a GM101 session, so I'll sign ya up for that for Saturday, Tracy :)

We're also suddenly in a tiny bit of limbo about our convention space, but thankfully I set up a Plan B as a fallback since this limbo was a possibility from the start, which might limit our space, but that should be sorted out before November too.

I'll letcha know!

Daniel - we'd love to have people in from out of town too!

Hoping to head down from Chicago for this, just to increase the Mike proportion at the con. ;-)

Unfortunately I can't make this one.

Though I suppose me not attending will increase the Mike percentage too.

I can't wait, it's going to be a lot of fun.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Hmm...with me going to Winter Fantasy. This will be a hard sell on the wife. Gonna take a lot of extra love* to pull this off.

*This would also be known as slave labor and completing a large list of honey do tasks.

Congrats to Mike Bramnik on a huge success at CommonCon this past weekend! Mike worked very hard to put on a good show, and his efforts definitely paid off. Great work, Mike!

Grand Lodge 5/5

Even though I was only able to make it one day, I had a great time and was impressed by what Mike had done. Hearty congratulations Mike. Hope to get up there for a Mon. night game soon. Also really glad to get the chance to meet Tracy and Chris. I had the express pleasure of having games GM'd by Mike and Tracy. Thanks again. Now if we can just get something going down here in Southern Indiana.

1/5

Had a great time at the con! I enjoyed meeting a bunch of great players and DMs, including Tracy (whom I'd known here on the boards for some time, but had not met face-to-face until now). I hope to be able to come back down there again soon.

5/5

Good job Mike (tall one)

Good job Greg Hurst running the special.

At the end
I had 1 hp and 3 con.
A druid in our party eneded with 3 str recovering from 1 str.

Good GM'ing in that special. Hats off to you sir.

Scarab Sages 5/5

Had a lot of fun! My favorite part was when the wizard and you teleported away to a bar in Kaer Maga to leave the rogue with 7 STR and the druid to flee the assassin on their own. :)

5/5

It's great Drakonus picked that bar out. There is no better place in all of Golaran when you are in ultimate peril than the Canary House in Kaer Maga.

Amsheagar and rogue were fine a combined str of 10 ... What would you expect from a pair of Qadiran's or my Qadiran Ninja/Pirate of Besmara. I will drink to their fortune all night.

Grats, Mike Tuholski on your first star. Hope to see all these GM's and players at WYC in March.

CommonCon 2013 is over, and was a smashing success.

Our final official tally: 93 people came to CommonCon 2013!

Did you know that the very first GenCon had 100 people at their first con? Seems like we did a good enough job for our first, and so...

CommonCon *will* return! Thank you everyone for making it a great weekend of gaming for "the everyday, common gamer!"

Numbers Breakdown:

  • Pathfinder Society Organized Play - 48 (with PFS#s ranging from the 1200s to the 72,000s!)
  • Board/Tabletop Gaming - 30
  • Magic: The Gathering - 13
  • "Just Watching/Observing" - 2

Also, a special thank you to Mike Mistele and Chris Dodge, who drove all the way out from Chicago and DeKalb IL to join us!
