[Legendary Games] Imperial Heroes on the march...

Product Discussion

Scarab Sages Contributor, RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4, Legendary Games

Not quite here yet but on approach is Neil Spicer's Imperial Heroes, the sort-of sequel to his deservedly legendary Gothic Heroes, one of our first products and a fan favorite. If you thought pregenerated characters were weak sauce, you really owe it to yourself to check out this product line, because Neil brings a level of creativity, detail, and depth of personality and playability that will knock your socks off, whether you use these as stock NPCs for your campaign (Adventure Path or homebrew) or as potential replacement PCs should the dice fall the wrong way. These characters are so evocative, richly flavorful, and just downright cool that you could use them for yourself. Every character has scaling notes indicating career advancement trajectory, with alternate stats for 15 or 20-point buy, including notes for ensuring they are PFS-legal, just in case you need an awesome character in a pinch for a scenario.

Just for fun, for previews on this product we are going to walk you through the development of some of the art for this product, starting with a girl named Jin. We'll be bringing Jin to life in several installments in both words and pictures, giving you just one example of the awesomeness that is Imperial Heroes!

For your viewing pleasure, a second and more colorful look at the illustration process is up on our website, with just a tease about the lovely lady therein illustrated.

Check it out, and follow us there or on Facebook to keep abreast of all our updates. We'll be revealing more about her soon... after I finish slaying the deadline dragon!

I assume that these characters are going to be best used with the Jade Throne AP, rather than Kingmaker? I'll be getting them either way; I really do prefer your 20-point buy for the characters as compared to the more 15. It lets me make characters that are more along the lines of what I want to play.

EDIT: And I looked at the color illustration. Man but that art is gorgeous.

The "... Heroes" product line assumes a baseline of 20-point buy but also includes adjustment notes for every character for 15-point buy AND notes for using them in PFS (no item creation feats, etc.). And yes, this product is for use with the "Far East Adventure Path," though the characters are at heart just delightfully detailed NPCs (or substitute PCs, if you need or want them to be), so you can use them anywhere!

To give you all who have not beheld the wondrous depth of imagination and creativity that Neil Spicer brings to these pregenerated characters (and, seriously, why aren't you already clicking on this link to go and buy yourself a copy of the fantastic Gothic Heroes?), we at Legendary Games proudly present the next preview for Imperial Heroes, getting inside the delightfully detailed character that is Jin Thiesson.

And this product contains EIGHT characters with this same lush vibrancy.

This is gonna be awesome.

Very much looking forward to this!

How far do I have to look forward to this?

Sooner rather than later, but unfortunately I can't specify a time exactly. We've had a hangup with the artist, who is far enough along that I'd rather not start over, but at the same time not actually *done* yet. Alas, and I know it's vexing, but sometimes these things happen.

In better news, I can happily report that even as we speak Conquering Heroes are also on the march, with Neil well along in the writing process and artwork already in progress by Hugo Solis, who did such a great job on Gothic Heroes!
