I'm building a rail-gun in my garage. This is what I have:

Four 10,000v capacitors
Steal pipe, 1cm
18 guage wire.
Iron ball, .9 cm

SCHEMATIC of my Rail-Gun:

.

(back of gun) . . . . . . . (front of gun)
---------------------------------
* -> ||||||-||||||-||||||-||||||---
C1....^ C2...^ C3...^ C4..^
---------------------------------

.

PARTS:
1. |||||| = 500 windings of my 18guage wire to make an elector-magnet
2. * = Iron ball
3. C1, C2, C3, C4 = my capacitors
4. .....^ = wire hook-up of my capacitor to coil

5. I have a switch that sequences the discharge time of each cap to about 0.1s, one after the other.

----------

Test 1: no worky.

Not a rail gun.

A rail gun has two parallel rails of conductive material and a conuctive armature sits between them.

You put a HUGE potential to them and the armature goes from one end to other.

You have a mass accelerator or a coil gun.

While we're on the subject of future-weapons...

I don't think the "weaponized platform" version of the suit is still in production, but apparently the "loading/bearing" version is still being worked up.

I may be wrong on the former (i hope so...)
