Just recently we had three Pax members stumble upon this upcoming MMO and ask to be added to our roster. Welcome Aidies, Civil, and Corvid. That moves our tentative roster up to 24 members.

I am going through the recruitment process right now. I hope to join your TOR chapter to start playing with Pax until PFO is up and running.

Goblin Squad Member

After much discussion, Bjorn has been promoted to rector. A rector is Pax Gamings recruitment coordinators. Congrats Bjorn, you are definitely an asset to any division you join :)

I just caught that thread. thanks for stopping in. I left ya a question in your application thread :)

Good luck in your application period, and with TOR. Our divisions there are pretty stellar group of people.

Hey nice to meet you! I also posted a couple of questions on your application. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the process!

A new post has been made on our FORUMS going into a little more detail on our events , festivals, and titles. For those who might not have access here is the summations:

In the recruitment section of our Pathfinder Online forums, we pointed out a large aspect of what we hope to accomplish in the world of Golarion. We promised kingdom run events, festivals, as well as individualized titles. While that sounds good, what does it really mean?

For one, we will be observing certain Golarion Holidays by decorating and hosting the celebration in our own settlements and kingdom. Some of these festivals will be purely social, but others will also involve tourneys, gladiatorial matches, the showing of wares, and more. This will largely involve pairing the right festival with the right activities, but we look forward to the opportunity.

In one of our Pathfinder RPG events we used the Sunwrought Festival as a point in which we supported knight like activities of jousting, melee's, and more tied into the celebration. This date will see a resurgence when PfO enters launch phases. I can imagine no more fun than arranging an event in the sun goddess's honor, even perhaps coordinating the reenactment of the fight between the Dawnflower and Rough Beast.

At the end of every Sunwrought Festival, once a year (Post Launch ) we will bestow on one Freemen the title of a Knight of Aegisir, This title is given in honor of a member's time, prowess, or commitment to the kingdom over the course of the year. It will be coordinated from member submitted suggestions (Through Pm's to our leadership) and then voted on by the Wardens and Thanes. Only one member will recieve this honor for the year, and it will be presented at the end of the festival in front of his or her peers by the High Thane, Thanes, and Wardens. From that moment onward that member will be known by the title of Sir, or of the Order Aegisir, or both.

Membership activity in this conversation is encouraged and welcomed :)

Goblin Squad Member

Also some additional updates of note:

The Motto of the Kingdom (And theme of our backstory):

"No Peace is Won, Where the Will Falters"

Our guild heraldry and colors:

Red and Gold and a white field. The imagery that we are working with is a battle standard, T style with swords fanning out from a centered bastard sword. The top of the standard is ornamented with a bear in tribute to Hrilga Shield-Maiden, a werebear servant of Torag. The bear also signifies dignity and protection.

The actual image is being worked on by our artists in the Pax Design Corps. Since the game is so far out the art is backlogged so that current divisions can get their image requests done, but we are excited with the preliminary drawings!

- Pax Aetermum -
Roleplay and Lore Guide

Pax Aeternum fully supports role-playing (RP), as do all Pax Gaming divisions. While we will not force members to RP during daily play, we do ask that if you choose not to role-play to please respect those who do. It’s also the responsibility of those who do role-play to not be overbearing or force RP situation upon other players.

As a member of Pax, your in-game reputation and actions will reflect upon not just Pax Aeternum in Pathfinder Online (PfO), but also the entirety of the Pax Gaming Community. The importance of honor and integrity among us will be paramount for providing a stable and rich environment for all our members. To this end we reiterate a point from the Pax Gaming Charter: Roleplaying may not be used as an excuse to disrespect or harass another player. If you roleplay with an abrasive attitude, then the guild will roleplay that your attitude is poor and thus you should be banished.

The Way We Roll: When Pax Gaming generates a division for a MMO we like to go big. We have a unique strength in our ability to bring players from all walks (PvP, PvE, RP, etc.) in a meaningful and mutually empowering way. One of the main tools we use to accomplish this is our RP and Lore. When a division for Pax is brought to life one of the first things the divisional leadership has the privilege of creating is the initial Lore of the division. This normally entails such things as a basic backstory structure for players to tie in their personal character story arcs, the leadership creating bio’s on the forums for their in-game character(s) for members to tie into, a timeline of the key RP events regarding backstory, characters and official lore of the game the division is for, and setting the Theme for the division as a whole. Pax Aeternum is fortunate to have quite a bit of time before Pathfinder Online is released, providing our members the chance to delve deep into Golarion Lore to bring Pax Aeternum in line with the cannon. We are looking forward to growing with PfO, and the rich world of Golarion.

Lore: The Lore of Pathfinder Online will be built upon the rich world of Golarion, specifically the River Kingdoms. We have taken care to create the lore of Pax Aeternum in-line with the official timeline and events already established in Golarion lore, creating our own Timeline including both Pax Aeternum and world events. The timeline is an organic thing, and will be updated as player stories emerge. While the Lore of Pax Aeternum will primarily be created by our members as our division grows, there will be oversight through our RP Warden as well as the Thanes and High Thane for all new entries into the timeline to make sure it fits. Our Origin Story is also available for more information on the beginnings of Pax Aeternum.

Characters: We welcome characters from all playable races and roles, but alignments will be limited. The Kingdom of Aeternum will be a force for good and honor and as such our members need to uphold these values. As your alignment will shift according to in-game actions (everyone will start Neutral), Evil aligned characters will not be allowed into our membership. When creating a Character Bio on our forums, please make sure to take this into account. You are not required to have a biography, but they are highly encouraged. You are not required to use part or all of the template if you choose to create a Bio, it’s simply there as a tool to use if you wish. If you have any questions on Bio’s, just make a post in the Talking Head Tavern, our RP forum, and we’ll help you out.

Events: Holidays and Festivals are a huge source of entertainment for all involved, just as are other organized events. We will have a variety of in-game events each month including such things as; Gathering and Market Events, PvP events against menaces encroaching on our territory as well as war against any enemies we have and avid use of the Bounty System, PvE events taking out hard or rare content, and more. We will also have a healthy dose of RP events including Holidays and Festivals both specific to Pax Aeternum and Golarion. While some of our events will be for Pax Aeternum members only, we plan on having the majority of our events be open to the Pathfinder Online community to come enjoy and even participate in should they wish. Information on such events will go through our ambassador channels with our ally's as well as being posted on the official PfO forums.

Titles: We will be using Titles to denote rank as well as herald significant accomplishments of members. The Pax Aeternum Roster will be kept up-to-date on these titles as members achieve them. Titles associated with rank are as follows:

  • High Thane (Guild Leader): The High Thane is the head of the High Council, the body of Thanes that run Pax Aeternum. While the council of the Thanes is highly valued, the High Thane is the absolute authority of Pax Aeternum, and as such the final word on any dispute or idea taking place. The High Thane is responsible for making sure the Kingdom of Aeternum maintains it’s ideals and honor as well as handling the placement of officers and Thanes needed to keep our Kingdom strong.

  • Thane (Council): Thanes are the council of the High Thane, and execute his will when he is not present. Thanes work with officers to maintain day-to-day operations for Pax Aeternum.

  • Warden (Officer): The workhorse of Pax Aeternum, the Wardens are Officers set in charge of specific guild functions such as our Ambassador, RP Officer, Crafting Officer, Raiding Officer, etc. They handle the meat-and-potatoes of the guild under the direction of the High Thane and his Council of Thanes.

  • Rector (Member Processing): Rectors work under the Recruitment Officer and are responsible for processing new member applications as well as making sure new members know who their officers are and how to contact them.

  • Freemen (Members): This houses the bulk of our membership. Pax Aeternum Freemen are the members who build and gather, kill and defend, and most importantly populate our Kingdom. It is for they that the leadership endeavors to maintain our Kingdom, and it is through them that Pax Aeternum will be a forceful presence of stability in Pathfinder Online.

  • RP Titles: These are titles that will be earned by the membership of Pax Aeternum through in-game deeds. These will be rare, given out only under specific circumstances. An example of such a title is the Knight of Aegisir which is only bestowed upon one member each year, at the end of the Sunwrought Festival.

I am on a borderline hypertension based diet (high heart healthy fibers). Thus I might not be able to forgive you for the pie reference :P

To give a little more background, chocolate and chess pies are really the two only sweets that smother me in deliciousness.

Consider me duly chastened. I'll be sure not to mention how good the Blueberry, Pumpkin, and Cherry Cream pies were too...

A little insight as to how this worked out in my brain..

"Blueberry...(meh)..Pumpkin(You Bastard!) ...Cherry cream (Meh)"

You never mentioned sweet potato pie though. Guess ya ain't southern but that would be my absolutely sinful delight.

Texan. Pecan Pie would be more likely :)

I figured that would come up. I grew up with soft teeth, so pecan pie was never a favorite. Chess is basically pecan without the nuts, which is why it was always a favorite.

In Tennessee sweet potato pie, topped with marsh mellows, its a down home treat.

Goblin Squad Member

Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, Pecan, or Lemon Moraine. Nuff said.

Goblin Squad Member

Areks wrote:

and well said too.

So with the increasing number of new sandbox games being announced, how do you all feel about the future of the genre? I personally think the competition could be good for the genre. Are any of these new games announcing or showing anything that impresses ya?

For myself, as a fan of tudor housing, Greedmonger's video and screenshots of player made towns is pretty visually impressive, at least.

Goblin Squad Member

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm excited to see EQNext. I grew up on EQ so I'm kind of biased. World of Darkness has my eye as well being as I loved OWoD. The Repopulation looks interesting, but somehow bland.

I'd love to see a Fallout / DayZ hybrid sandbox.

I think that there will be further refinement of the definition of "sandbox" based on varying levels of control through terrain manipulation, governance, item creation and innovation, as well as other player sweet spots.

It'll be interesting to see what ends up being the industry standard and how long before it becomes recognized as such.

Goblin Squad Member

I think we are going to see a lot of sandboxes coming out for the next couple years probably. But I think the games that will be the best ones will have a little bit more of a moderation to it between Sandbox and Themepark.

We will see though.

Goblin Squad Member

I'm just glad Dev's are realizing just more wow-clones aren't what people craft. We'll play it cause there's nothing else, but I think a lot of people want more meat with their graphics. I think your right tho Bjorn, the games I'll probably like the most are sandbox games with little injections of themepark content.

Goblin Squad Member

Well, were were able to get the word back to Paxgaming.com on the newest Pathfinder Online Kickstarter project. It looks we were able to point some members that are not yet Goblinsquad to a second opportunity to participate in the process. As a gaming community these projects are exciting to see unfold. I am already seeing those numbers climb quickly in just a few short hours.

I didn't get to pledge the first time so excited for this round!

Definitely glad they opened a new kickstarter, I was really bummed I missed the last one.

Silver Crusade

Guess I had better pop on here and say hi. I am Elina from Pax (would have set that as my avatar name, but it was taken, as was my Pathfinder Society character's name, lol). I haven't been playing Pathfinder all that long, but I have been really enjoying it. I guess the biggest thing I am looking forward to is seeing what they come up with for the online game.

I am really looking forward to playing this with members of the Pax community. They are an awesome group of people to game with. I participate, to some degree or another in four of the divisions. I still haven't had a bad experience gaming with any of them.

Goblin Squad Member

Look at all the faces dropping in here!

Thanks for stopping by Elina, Aides. What is everyone excited most about as far as the PfO features go?

Dak Thunderkeg wrote:

Most definitely settlement and kingdom building. Having the opportunity to be a part of something like that in a sandbox game with pax again just sounds amazing.

For sure. While it won't be Dark City, I think it will be a legacy our community can be proud of.

Hello all!

I am so excited by the second kickstarter and am crossing all my fingers and toes that halflings win!

That being said, I can't wait to start building our own Paxian area. I never got to be part of SWG and see Dark City in all of its glory, but I am sure we can make something to be proud of here. I can't wait to log in for the first time, and yeah I know I have a bunch of time to wait but still, excited!

We have a lot of build fans in Pax, and while there is more danger involved in PfO than say Greedmonger, our end result will be satisfying.

If time and effort are put into just the decoration of a space, how much more precious would that space be for those that have toiled on it? I have always said that I would appreciate pvp again when the consequences were more lasting and the reward more apparent. Its nice to see Goblinworks took on the challenge.

Goblin Squad Member

You ain't the only one, a year + is a long time to wait... but that'll just make it that much more awesome when it finally hits. :)

I couldn't have said it better myself! I can't wait to see all the stuff you can build... It would be awesome if I could build myself a Elven Treehouse! Or for you Dwarfs, a nice mead hall!

Checking in! I've been stalking these forums for months now, and what better way to make a first post than within your own Kingdom's thread.

Also, Kudos to Dak and Bjorn on the massive amount of information and work they've put into Pax Aetermum - the possiblities to be literally any kind of player you want exist comfortably within the confines of the Callambea Community.

To be fair we will not be allowing criminal actions in our kingdom and from our CC's, like assassination, theft, and banditry.

Also Kard has put a heck of a lot of work into this division, in story editions. Forencith still remains to be my best sounding board for ideas. That cat is like a red hot forge, always fighting for what he thinks is the best course for our kingdom.

All in all I am lucky to have everyone on my leadership team, as well as the great members we have.

Why thank you Ezekial! But as Dak said, Kard and Forencith have also done a lot to help as well!

Recruits: 1
Rafkin

Our recruitment has been slow and steady, but we are happy with how things have went thus far. While we might not be able to accept every recruit, we feel we grow and improve our recruitment with our two week application process. Thus far the members we have gained from this forum community have been a great addition to our own gaming community.

We are planning our first meet and greet currently, and hope to have the timing and details down for early to mid December. While this is a great time for us to dig into the game, our roleplay, as well as other internal issues it is also a prime time to open up to the PfO community as a whole. Expect more on this topic very soon :)

Goblin Squad Member

So what you're saying is that I'm currently the BEST recruit you have!

Awsome!

Of all the recruitio's, you are the recruitiest!

On a serious note, you have done stellar in your application period. We have had around seven recruitment applications roughly since we opened up recruitment for PfO. Not everyone ended up a good fit for our community, unfortunately.

While I can't give you specifics, I will hint that your applications process thus far has been very well recieved :)

I can't recommend Pax Aeternum enough. The sheer amount of love they're pouring into this is awe inspiring.

I thought every building was a mead hall, except those elven tree forts.

Goblin Squad Member

Are you saying something about my tree fort? Because it is AWESOME!! :D

You never know I might have some mead in there...

Goblin Squad Member

Well you'll have to hoist me up with some waggly finger magics or somethin' then, cause there's no way I'm gonna be climbin' into a tree fort! What if someone sees?!

Allow me to rectify my comments, High Thane. As to the criminal actions, my mind was encompassing only the (generally) neutral to good aligned professions: huntsman, farmer, merchant, adventurer, soldier, militia, bounty hunter, etc. My apologies to (what I consider) the less savory professions available (thief, assassin, highwayman); that scope of PfO was not meant to be within my original wording ;)

Secondly, let me extend my thanks and appreciation to Kard and Forencith as well; Pax Aeternum is rich with story, lore, and structure 1.5 years from a PfO beta, and it's because of people like yourself that we're that much more ahead of the curve.

With that said, time to get back to scraping together as much cash as I can for the PfO Kickstarter ;)
